I finished Valiant Hearts: Coming Home on Switch. While the sequel looks and feels very much like Valiant Hearts game, it has some flaws that I feel make it much inferior in comparison to The Great War
The positive thing is that it doesn't feel like a port of the mobile game. Not at a first glance, at least. I noticed some of popups for QTE reminiscing mobile games and a lots of loading screens between chapters and episodes, but beside them, I wouldn't even thought it was once a mobile game. This does indeed feel exactly what you expect from Valiant Hearts, still keeping its signature artstyle, mixing platforming and puzzles with narrative seamlessly bouncing between charming humor and moments that are outright grim and depressing
One of my main gripes was length. The game is about twice shorter than the first game. Completing it took me about 3,5 hours. Relatively short length also impacts the story as similarly as in the first game, this one also has multiple playable characters and episodes were constantly swapping between different leads, never using full potential of each of the protagonists and giving enough time to get to know them. It reminded me a bit of The Walking Dead: 400 Days DLC conundrum which had a similar issue
Overall, I liked it. I didn't had high expectations, but I wish it could have been longer as the game's length was rather unsatisfying
As for what I'm currently playing - still making progress on FFVII Rebirth, slowly as I feel a bit burned out of huge open world games after finishing Oblivion with expansions last month and started Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. I like it so far, feels like a step up from the first Dark Alliance game and improves a lot by adding larger maps, more opportunities for creating different builds and has more custom side content with unique locations encouraging to explore every corner.
