Booted up Visions of Mana. I got high hopes for this being a return to form for the franchise. So far it's pretty good. Story and characters are standard jrpg tropes but the graphics are very impressive for a Mana game. Looks so beautiful. Crisp and vibrant colors makes for an atmospheric world and the exploration a delight.

I've been playing Yakuza 3 recently, just reached chapter 5. It's a bit odd thing to experience, especially when going from Y0 and YK1 to Yakuza Kiwami 2 and then to Yakuza 3. I'm at the relatively early parts of the game, but one thing I have to say is the game has some serious problems with pacing. Chapter 4 especially was awful on that front

Lost dimension

Been playing this as of late and its a really intriguing SRPG with an unique concept. I get the feeling this is going to grow into a very underappreciated cult hit with time.

Its put Lancarse/FuRyu on the map for me.

Started playing Wonderful 101 on the Switch. Maybe an hour in and I am really not sure what to make of it. The screen is just so busy so it's hard to have a clue what's going on most of the time. It feels like a game that was made for the Wii U and really needs that second screen. Now instead the second screen is just floating around on the main screen getting in the way.
Maybe I need to try it on the TV instead. I'm intrigued in some ways and I've heard the game's good but not giving a great first impression so far.

So I decided to give Genshin Impact a real shot these past few days, and I'll say that I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. The worldbuilding, art direction, and soundtrack are top tier for a gacha game.

Took me a good while, but I've done 80 - 90% of the exploration and quests available in the first zone, Mondstadt, and now I've moved on to the second region, Liyue, which appears to be even bigger than this one I've just completed.

Just started doing some exploration and some side-quests, but dude, this battle theme music for this new region that starts playing while fighting slimes and other random enemies is an instant banger that I had to immediately look up on YouTube and play it on repeat, lol.

I've a feeling this game is going to consume the rest of my holiday and beyond. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I REALLY want to see one day Drakengard 3 gets same treatment as Nier Replicant 1.22.
And the others as well, yeah.
I also wish someone would have uploaded individual images of those PSN avatars in avatar size. It kills that I did not have the money to properly support the developers in that way. Same goes for the theme. Makes me hate that I can no longer use the PSN themes for Nier Automata also now that I think about it since PS5 does not carry over PS4 themes. Danjin44 Danjin44

Suicide Squad on Series X.

Playing with the Offline mode patched in.

And it's ... kinda fun ?

Sad John Cena GIF

Completely unforgivable that this is the canon sequel to the Arkham games, but for what it is, I'm having a fun time with the mindless blasting. Playing as Deadshot and his style is like playing Anthem with the jetpack.

The juvenile humor is hit or miss, but it felt nice killing essentially Ezra Miller's Flash.

The hate was always extremely exaggerated. Its not a great game by any means, but its still totally functional and mindless casual fun. Reminds me of Crackdown. I wouldn't go below a 7.

How do you access offline mode? Didn't realize that got added. That's great news.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

it's under the settings, there's an option to create an Offline profile, which detaches from the regular way the game is played Online. From them you can start a new game in offline mode and play like a single player game.

Bonus that things like rest mode and quick resume work wonderfully in offline mode, no issue like connectivity or persistent online checks needed.

About 14 years ago, I platinumed the original Demon's Souls on the PS3, and I even did many challenge runs through that masterpiece. Now, today, on the PS5 Pro, I just platinumed the Demon's Souls Remake (~70 hours). Judging by the platinum rate, it's arguably the most difficult game produced by FromSoftware, and wholeheartedly I agree with that sentiment. The graphics of the remake on the PS5 Pro is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, the mechanics are innovative and genre-defining, and the gameplay laid the groundwork for the company's much-acclaimed future titles. I give the game a 10/10.

So, got my old Ps5 back for a week or so while my sister's family is on a trip.

First thing I loaded up was Astrobot so I can finally see what the whole fuss was about. It is probably the best Sony exclusive this gen and I'm enjoying it a lot mostly because the whole gameplay loop is perfectly designed but I'm also kind of zoning out already (only a few levels left) because I'm not a huge platformer guy and I need characters, writing and story like in Psychonauts 2 to stay engaged all the way through.

Will try GoW: R after that and Helldivers 2.

1. Does the game take a picture automatically when you get a trophy or did you have to time it perfectly?
2. Is that your real setup and if so have you posted in the "Post your gaming setup" thread? https://www.neogaf.com/threads/show-us-your-gaming-setup-2024-edition.1665153/

Wolfenstein 2009. I finally got it fixed so I can play it on my 32:9 screen.
Fallout 4. I've never beaten the main quest. I've spent many, many hours modding the game and only about a 10th of that time actually playing. This time I'm not going to mod it and finish the main quest.

Tomb Raider remastered. Tomb of Qualopec. So far it's done very tastefully. It retains the old school feeling with a nice fresh coat of paint. It's not completely redone like Anniversary, it's a more subtle approach that respects the original vision. The modern controls works so much better than tank and the ability to save everywhere makes it more forgiving. For those of you who remember, OG Tomb Raider is a very difficult game. I'd say it's one of the more hardcore games on PS1. Death is looming constantly and with limited saves that means a lot of sections replayed. Now it feels more casual and it's something I welcome.

Omg rebirth is such a beast of a game. I took it from 96 to 112 hours over the last two weeks. :x

Which is why it's silly when people make ignorant comments that the "lazy devs" only made a third of the game esch entry.

Rebirth, alone, is much larger than FFVII. Whether or think it's as good is debatable, but they are definitely not the "same game".

Me and Wife were talking about it last night - how huge the game is and how it's actually a common complaint. In the spirit of trying to capture the grandiosity of the old game today, it kind of has to be huge. Part of what was amazing about that original game was that it was huge and there's tons of dumb crap to do.

This must be a nightmare for a completionist though. I'll give em that.

Killed the first boss in Visions of Mana. A classic enemy from the past entries. And Visions very much feels like a classic 16 bit Jrpg, with modern graphics and control. It carries the spirit of Mana with grace so far 🙏 Love it

Over the Christmas break, games started showing up in my Netflix suggestions bars on the TV so we tried it. You can now just click it, scan a QR code on your phone and play right there on the TV with a phone. Can't really get more convenient.

We tried out a co-op puzzle game where it's almost turn based and the lag isn't much of an impact. Can't remember what it was called, but it was enjoyable. Got my wife to actually play with me. The fact that it was on Netflix, and you just use your phone apparently removed all her usual excuses for not trying a game.

Mario v Donkey Kong (switch). Two sides to this game, play it without 100 percenting it and you can blitz your way through the levels with your eyes closed and its all quite charming. But trying to do a perfect run through some of them without taking a hit and collecting all the pick-ups can be infuriating. Some of the boss battles have had me spitting blood, especially the one with Bom-Omb's running about the place. I'm about 70% through a perfect run but have rage quit more times than I care to mention. I'll grind my way through but after that I'll never touch it again.

6/10 from me. Should have opted for Mario Wonder from my backlog instead.

Okay I have been really buying games on this Steam sale.

This is a FPS, roguelike, survivors clone boomer shooter. You read that right. You survive a time limit. You collect currency, complete challenges. Unlock more characters and skills. Permanently upgrade your characters.

And it works. Pretty addictive. 8 bucks

My major criticism is the game just needs more stuff (enemies namely). It's Early Access with a roadmap and brand new.

Bouncing back and forth between Diablo 2R and Fallout 4.

Diablo 2R I'm doing a (late to the party) ladder Lightning Fury Amazon. Just started Nightmare last night so still a bit to go. I'm mostly doing this because even though I'm really enjoying PoE2 I don't want to burn myself out while they're still balancing things and working on the rest of the game.

Fallout 4 I'm actually doing a modded playthrough using the 100GB+ 'Storywealth' mod collection. Hadn't played the game since 2015 (so long ago...) and apparently I had left a negative review due to the paid mods controversy back in 2017! It was like looking into a time capsule.

considering ruining my college semester to get into Tiny Glade...
So uh, I just picked this up on a whim and I am obsessed. This game (is it a game? Is it a medieval Lego set? Unclear) is a cozy game for people who hate cozy games. I have no idea why I don't hate it. I need a challenge, I need a story, I need objectives, this game has none of that. Why do I love it then?
