Dark souls 3. Picked up again yesterday and beat the two princes after 5 tries. Died a billion times about two years ago and just quit it then. Good feeling!

Got the dlc after and fucked up all bosses like shit, except Midir. It’s like I almost got gud..

Messed around w Gradius (port on SEGA Saturn) and got pretty far before dying. Once you die it's pretty much game over so that's a pain. Still, the game holds up as a singular experience despite its age. My upgrade route is Speed > Speed > Laser > Option > Shield > Option x3 and that seems to work well for me so far. I like the laser and this route helps keep rank (relatively) low.

I've recently (and unfortunately) dropped Bloodstained ROTN after 17 hrs cuz it was so boring that I just could not torture myself any longer. So now I'm getting ready to play Catherine this weekend.

Playing Red Dead online for PC. And wow I’m glad I double dipped. The online is sooooo much better for PC. The graphics and amount of animals and the frame rate are game changers. I’m really enjoying the new trades and bootlegger missions.

I’m also playing Plague Tale. I like it but it’s really dragging for me.

Also still playing Call of Duty.

However I’m in a bit of a gaming lull. And need something new pretty soon here. I’m blowing through all my streaming shows.

Really loving both The Show '19 and Spider-Man. Both are incredible.

Just finished Plague Tale Innocence and it's a very difficult game for me to score. I was having incredible time for 2/3 of the campaign, it was like The Last of Us from a different era and with an even bigger emphasis on stealth. I absolutely hated how the studio decided to
go full supernatural and introduce "rat whisperer" mechanic in the final chapters. It ruined a lot of the fun for me. What I loved about The Last of Us is that it stayed believable until the very end. You didn't gain any "superpowers" to deal with infected and you didn't encounter any crazy bosses. Don't get me wrong, I liked the rats being the main obstacle in the game, but in my opinion the studio went over the top with them. Maybe they were running out of ideas, maybe they wanted the final stages to become more challenging. No matter, I'm not a fan of this.
It's still a game I'm glad I played and a lot of the locations looked absolutely gorgeous even on my base PS4. :)
I kind of enjoyed the portion you mentioned in the spoiler - for me it made the journey all that more important because of it and I also think that without that it would have almost felt as if there was no real importance (okay keeping them alive is important but why them?) in the long run of saving the two of them. I mean in The Last of Us there wasn't anything "super power-like" however there was a very important reason to keep Ellie alive using Joel in the same way that it was to keep Hugo alive using Amicia.

I do agree that went way above my expectation level and was a fun game to play.

Man of Medan. It was... ok? The story isn't very strong and I worked out what what happening very early on. The ending was really sudden as well. Some times the characters looked plasticky. Still enjoyable at a discount though but no Until Dawn 6/10.

Prey: Mooncrash. The learning curve was tough after a good few years away from the base game. Once it clicked I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I prefer a set level with story but it was fun. 7/10.

True, I think they've backed themselves into a corner, because some people would probably dislike the story if it was about meaningless characters that don't have any impact on the world they're travelling through. I probably wouldn't mind if the story was written well enough....
like if rescuing mum and escaping with her ended up being their main goal

I'm half way through A Plague Tale Innocence.....it's a beautiful game with an interesting setting, the gameplay is very basic stealth(throw stone to distract enemy),but the rats are cool even though not really a threat. It plays like a puzzle game actually but I'm enjoying it,it's a nice change from all the open world games around these days.

Surprisingly nothing out of online games. But what I’m planning to play:

- Disco Elysium
- Escape from Tarkov
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Don’t know why it took me this much time since I’m a big fan)

Fyi stealth sections are gradually changing and expanding in the game because of new slingshot projectiles and new types of enemies. Just don't count on it getting extremely complex.

I've been playing a few games after the massive undertaking that was Shenmue 3.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic - I've beaten the final boss yesterday. Finally got him on the second try, arguably the hardest fight in the game even with maxed out characters. It was a fun experience. It's a small, quaint indie RPG that just plays like an obscure PS2 RPG. No voice overs and such, which I'm OK with since the story is easy enough to follow. I also like the whole harvesting and crafting ammunition and potions since those items are ubber expensive in the ingame stores. If you can this game cheap, you can overlook some it's minor flaws and it's ocassional difficulty spikes.

Sonic Mania Plus - Just finished the game recentely. It's surprisingly more fun than I was expecting though there are a few issues I've had with it. The good is that Mania is very colorful, it's very animated, easy to play and it has some pseudo cutscenes that explain the transition between stages (something that's never explained in any games). This is just my opinion, I think it's profundly lazy to reuse stages from Sonic 1, 2 and 3&K for this game. Could've benifited from more new stages in which some of them are real standouts (others make me angry with either boss fights or annoying gimmicks), so it doesn't feel like a rehash. I understand that nostalgia is the main selling point and that this game is more Sonic 4-ish than Sonic 4 ever was but it is what it is.
That said, it is a really fun game and I hope more Sonic Mania titles get made.

Finished Red Dead 2 story mode and dabble in some online and then switched to God of War (first time playing it) and had an amazing time with both!

Might go back to Far Cry New Dawn, but also just started MH: World. We'll see how long I stick with it but have definitely been in the mood for a lot of single player games. (Looking at you, Horizon ZD and Spiderman; you're next!)

Started playing Dusk a few days ago... having an absolute incredible time. I love 90's shooters and the visual aesthetic of this game is especially nostalgia inducing. On top of that, and the most important thing is that the gameplay is perfect for me. Fast, fluid, and the guns are incredibly satisfying to shoot! This is the type of game that you can master to a point where you're virtually untouchable. As long as you make smart, split second decisions using the amazing traversal system, you can avoid nearly all damage. At least on the "I Can Take It" difficulty setting. The mix of a dark and brooding atmosphere, with the difficult but skill based gameplay makes this an instant classic for me.

Finally starting Spider-man (PS4 Pro) today 🙂 🕷👨

I believe someone here recommended concentrating on the main story first and then tidying up at the end? 🤔

just dont slavishly complete everything. do a bit of side stuff to get important skills a bit faster. most are superfluous. gadgets also don't need to be completely unlocked. i barely used some of them

Finished Little Nightmares. I don't know why I keep buying Limbo-like games, because I end up hating a lot about them. The trial & error in this game is very frustrating, it's pretty much impossible to go through some sections on your first try, especially since you can't outrun the big enemies and if they surprise you there's little chance you'll find shelter in time. I liked the graphics, character designs and small things like leaving your footsteps after stepping on some tar substance.

Currently playing Super Mario Bros on the NES mini. Trying to finish the game without using any wraps. Never done that before.

Currently using the A-start trick at a game over to resume the World I was up to. Managed to get to World 6 before I got a game over though.

I finally managed to get it up and running at 1080p 60fps withhout issues. It took a lot of tinkering in settings. Now I just need to finish my 12 hour shift today and them I'm off for 2 days. I'm gonna finish this in one sitting. I never understood why I didn't like Hounting groud back in the day. But better late then never.

Escape From Tarkov. I just started playing recently. Had I taken a few minutes to learn more about it when I first saw it a couple years ago, I may not have purchased another game since. Holy fuck is this a great game. I can't put it down.

Wanted a little fresh air before diving on the next JRPG (Not sure if Bravely Default or Chrono Trigger yet) and tried Medievil (PSX verison) ever since it came out was attracted to it thanks to media praising its graphics and althugh the CGI used was nice at the time, th egame itslef is overly simplistic with some nice adventure touches here and there (the crucifix forging was nice) otherwise I didnt like its clunkyness and unfair/old design. After dying 3 times at a boss having to repeat the hwole damn level again I said fuck it and used invincibility cheat to finish it. (it was fun but not worth to try it without it again)

Played a bunch of Hollow Knight and FF Theatrhythm over the weekend.

I can see why so many people rave about Hollow Knight. It is absurdly mythic and dark considering the cutesy enemies, but that's part of its charm I guess. I'm pretty burned out on all the sidescrolling Metroidvania / "Souls" games but the combat in HK is interesting enough. I like how your character bounces back a bit, forcing you to keep your footing when hopping between platforms. I like it. It's challenging.

I beat my first named boss and I thought it was pretty intense, plus some other smaller midbosses with no special title.

Thearhythm is probably my favorite FF game overall. Huge list of songs and excellent rhythm gameplay. A must buy for fans of the music and/or for fans of Elite Beat Agents / Guitaroo Man / rhythm games in general.

I am tempted to get a japanese 3DS just so that I can play the DQ Theatrhythm title that never came West.

Need for Speed Heat is my current weekend game. Not being able to remap buttons is a big fuckin NO NO in my book. It's got a shit soundtrack too and is very repetitive. Paying $40 on black Friday was probably too much. I'll keep playing it though.

ESO: highly recommended (and not just because I’m a class rep lol), despite some performance issues that are currently being prioritized and addressed. There’s just so much content and the writing is great. High skill ceiling for top end PVE and PVP. Action combat that’s more twitch-based than TERA even.

DMC5: Absolute dumpster fire of a game, but free on Gamepass. It’s a clusterfuck of every tired Japanese trope we’ve seen in the last two decades with an incoherent plot and nonsense characters. Even the action feels stiffer than the last few entries and the environments are bland as Hell. Almost done with this tedium though. I made a promise to myself to actually finish games this year, so here we are.

Gears 5: Suprisingly good. Amazing visuals, sound and set pieces. Characters and writing are serviceable to above par. Last Gears I played was Gears 2 with its much lauded (by Cliffy) emotional storyline lol This is a marked improvement in every way.

I'm trying to finish Shadow of the Colossus on the PS4 and it's such an enormous disappointment. The controls and the camera are complete garbage. I sometimes feel like I'm playing Goat Simulator or some other game that's janky and unpredictable on purpose and not because of bad design. I'll probably just finish the game once and won't bother about any additional trophies. I'd actually return the game or switch it for something else if it wasn't a Christmas gift from my other half.

Just finished the second chapter of xenoblade chronicles 2. Also playing control. Might be the strangest game I've played story wise, but it's cool so far.

Chapter 8 now in Astral Chain. I have a hard time grasping just how good this game is. The action has ramped up considerably and the legions you collect offers a nice variation to the combat and traversing.

And the different moves you can do, damn, it's so stylish and fluid, jumping around, chain binding foes and performing finishing moves on the bosses, it's so satisfying. Fucking brilliant combat system. Never seen anything like it.

So far it's definitely one of Platinums finest work. I hope the director and Nintendo turns this into a full fledged franchise.

Managed to finish Super Mario Bros, the Hammer Bro at the very end of world 8-4 is a real cunt. He is more annoying than Bowser himself. Felt good.

Playing the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 via emulation now. The difficulty is definitely a step up. Poison mushroom killed me because I didn't know they were a thing. HAH!!

The Tribe Has Spoken
I stopped playing Secret of Mana because Collection of Mana on the Switch has a terrible controller bug that should be an easy fix, but Square Enix hasn’t patched it yet, for some reason. It makes the games almost unplayable.

So, I switched to Breath of Fire instead. A series which I own, but never really gave the time of day. Against most advice, I am starting with the first BoF. It’s basic, but so far, so good.

Unravel 2, paid just €6 for the Switch version. Looks and sounds lovely, nice relaxed pace and simple yet satisfying puzzles. Prefer playing single mode rather than co-op, gives you more to do.

Really must give the original a go, its been sitting in my dormant Origin account for a few years.

Just finished Evil Within 2. Unfortunately not a patch on the amazing phantasmagoria of the original. Loved the first one, this one was just ok.

Started up Days Gone. What fucking difficulty to select? there are 6 flipping options with no subtext. I went Hard II. Any advice appreciated before I get in too deep.

The controls feels amazing by the way, smooth, low latency. Likely stands out all the more after the jank of Evil Within 2.
