What game are you currently playing?

I have a long vacation weekend and first order was to get death stranding 2.

I loooove death stranding 1. This is the most straightforward kojima sequel I can think of, and picks up right where ds1 left off with minimal changes aside from the fucking awesome graphics. I'm loving the shit out of it but it does seem like there is something missing by this sequel not being more of a departure.

The self-paced logistics-strategy gameplay is so unique. You could say there's not enough strand-type games.

I'd say play Original Sin 1. Didn't like PoE1 at all, too much yapping and it's not all that interesting.

Dunno which CRPGs you've played already but if you haven't played Baldur's Gate 2 nor the KOTOR games I'd say those are vastly superior games to those you posted.
 
Playing Kingdom Come 2 and loving it. I also enjoyed the 1st one alot but droped it because of the combat system. Whatever changes they did to the combat for the 2nd game, it worked. Combat is now much more satisfying, and you also have a dog that can help you with crowd control. The beginning of the game is still hard with weak armor, fighting more than 1 enemy is very challenging, but the game gives you many tools and multiple ways to complete quests. Once you get plate armor, fighting multiple enemies is much easier.

Ppl that missed the skyrim experience, with a virtual living world where you can do pretty much anything the way you want, NPC with daily routines, etc. Should play Kingdom Come 2, the main diference is this one is grounded in reality instead of fantasy.

Been playing No Rest For The Wicked the last couple days. I'm completely hooked. Feels like they've updated it a ton since last time I played about a year ago. It's amazing! I love the weighty combat. Managed to beat the first boss at the first attempt so I assume they've dialed down the difficulty a notch, struggled with it the last time.
 
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Only played for an hour. Completed Cinderella's world and I'm currently pelting Heartless in Snow White's world with Aqua. I think this entry has my favourite gameplay.

Will be setting up my new PC on Tuesday, so not trying to play anything too big or long. Need to think about what game I'm going to play on it first.
 
Started trying Assassin's Creed III again. That's where I stopped in my chronological first playthrough of the AC series, randomly just dropped it. Instead of 360, trying it on Switch now (Switch 2 really). Hoping being able to play however and whenever will help me get into it. I like the setting, just don't think it was the right time the first time I tried it. Visually looks nice, main character is a bit odd though. Some strange statements and a bit overt with the whole "order " thing. Boisterous to some extent that I don't like.
 
Made some good progress on the Jason Bourne game for the PS3....hard fought progress too! Tried out for a little while Episode 1 of the Batman game from Telltale as it was a free download....a lot of people talk about Arkham this Arkham that etc...and the Dark Knight, but nobody seems to mention the games Telltale did for the franchise..
 
Still observing Wife playing rdr2. The savepoints are ridiculous, sometimes. Too often. You are going through multiple setups and set-pieces between opportunities to save. Pretty fucking obnoxious when you are more likely to lose a mission because you haven't rehearsed where to stand before an auto-fail.
 
Been grinding away in Fantasian and having a blast with Death Stranding 2. Played some The Rumble Fish 2 and CvS2. I also didn't get the System Shock 2, so I bought it. Won't start it for a while. Knee deep in both games atm.

same here. Desmond was interesting for a while. I played Brotherhood and Revelations with AC2 just fine back in the day. Dropped real hard at AC3.
 
Having so much fun with Death stranding 2. Its very beautiful and cerebral. It is like a moving work of art. Very catharsis. I never had this feeling since Okami. Im still avoiding spoilers videos reviews and live playthrough. Im not even reading too much the DS2 neogaf OP thread except if I will have some question.
 
I finished Kaze and the Wild Masks. The first three worlds were cool but the last was less inspired and I just wanted it to end. I stopped going for semi complete items each stage and just wanted to see the credits. Last boss fight was kinda cool.

Time to open up my SNES Switch Online controller and play the Donkey Kong Country games. I've never played 2 or 3.
 
Season 2 of Last of Us got me wanting to go back and play the games. Just finished Part 1, first time playing the remake and it looks great. What's there to say, the game itself is a masterpiece.
I do have a couple of gripes with it though and it's mainly to do with the collectables/completionist aspects. I always scour the levels to make sure I haven't missed anything but I feel like in this game it punishes you for doing so. I'll be going into other rooms or in the opposite direction of the other companions to see what I can find and because of that I miss out on optional conversations.

Anyways onto Left Behind.

Playing a PRince of Persia Game on Switch 2, it a 2.5d Side scroller. Looks and plays alright. I will start Tears of the kingdom after that, I needed a game in between BOTW and TOTK, loved BOTW.

Space Marine Remaster. The closer I get to the end the more I am surprised I remember nothing about the original which I played 14 years ago, well, except for one thing: the amount of times orcs shout "Space Marine!" is enough to engrain it in your memory for the rest of my life. Anyway, game is still fun even though it has nothing on Gears of War games.

Still playing Symphonia. The game is so close from being great but I don't think they nailed the controls. Not always responsive or precise, and needlessly overcomplicated.
 
RDR2 and I absolutely fell in love with it. It's such a shame Rockstars next game is GTA, I like the western setting way more. Probably gonna spend around 300 hours in it, as Imm starting over from beginning with a 100% playthrough.

I have been playing it as well. I do pretty well in it with a spiked freezing wand but I still have trouble with the stamina system. I did one of those crucible trials and upon reaching level 10 despite taking half the boss's health in seconds I got one shot by a blade swing at full health so I think it might still need some tweaking.

P.S. While I am okay with enemies scaling with the player I am a bit disappointed by them completely changing in visited areas and find the requirements of wielding higher level weapons ridiculous. I am at a level where comparable equipment requires 40+ points of investment to use without penalty (despite unlocking respec perk in the Crucible) and it renders finding better weapons moot outside of the general set you are already using.

I had to restart after all the updates they had done so I'm still early on this run. Mostly been doing bounty quests and updating the city.

The stamina system is definitely tricky. I'm currently wielding an axe of sorts with a bunch of buffs, and a huge shield. It's fairly slow to swing so I often have to back out of the fight to regain the stamina.

In general I like the weighty combat, makes the game more strategic, can't just mash and win. But parrying… Can't time that right! Feels like I win many fights by some kind of cheesing, like moving away to the "edge" of their area, then rushing in for some big swings and then out again.

Still, I'm really enjoying it! Visually it's like some mature version of Final Fantasy IX with the slightly cartoony look.
Not a fan of the Popeye arms though!
 
Finished Cocoon today. I'm blown away. The late game puzzles and the art direction and just the general uniqueness of it all. Perfect 10!
Ended with a restart of The Witness.

I see why I put this down the year of release. I had just kicked a wow addiction and this is basically a single player MMO. Thank God for this fast forward option. It's necessary. I don't see myself dealing with all this combat otherwise.

I got to pour tons of time into stranding 2 over my long weekend. I forgot how it's actually kind of fun to grind out a big delivery route once in awhile.

In a typical open world game, you may take a bunch of sidequests in one area, or may just take them all and do them any time you are in town. Having to plan the route to hook them together is a unique thing. Finding lost packages on the way and "entrusting" the ones that are going counter to your route. One big route is like doing hours of individual sidequests, and lets you blend them together as you like.
 
I recently finished RE7 and overall I enjoyed my time with it but man this game loses all its tension and horror once you got to the ship and final boss was so anticlimactic.

This game has fantastic atmosphere but it desperately needs better enemy and boss fights and still think first person just not right for RE games. I'm gonna do two DLCs and move to RE8 (I heard improves enemy and boss fights).

I've been doing a lot of free roam in Mario Kart World and I really love the hand crafted world they created as with the addition of grinds and wall rides, they've basically created what I believe Tony Hawk's Pro Skater would have evolved into had that series continued. All the structures, objects, and land masses are built to link into each other. It's also jam packed with P-Switch challenges, question mark panels, Peach coins, and milestones to collect. The P-Switch challenges are a little uneven, but the ease of most them makes sense considering how large of an audience the series garners, but at there best they are a fusion of Mario Kart, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, and Pilot Wings with just a tiny sprinkle of Blast Corps from time to time. I also like that the map doesn't offer much help to where collectables are located as it relies on exploration. Stickers aren't the greatest reward for your efforts, but it is the old adage of it being about the journey and not the destination. I'm at 611 collected stickers and probably twenty hours in the mode and still have a bunch to find. I never thought I'd have this much fun in the single player portion of a Mario Kart game, but I'm pleasantly surprised. More P-Switch challenges also seems like something Nintendo could add into the world in future updates.
 
Xenoblade Chronicles DE on the Switch 2.

I started the original Xenoblade on the Wii when it was released and never finished it. Then started DE version on the Switch when it was released and never finished it either. I stopped right around when "Seven" joins the party because something else came out that I wanted to play.

I started from scratch again about a week ago and am at the point where Seven joins the party again.

This is also the point at which the game seems to bog down a bit too. I think I need to just push forward with the story and finish the damn game.
 
I also got to ride shotgun for another huge stretch of RDR2. Have to give the game credit - it builds to one of the most well earned emotional moments I have ever seen. I can see why it's regarded so highly. I would have never made it that far myself, though.
 
Oh boy, I just completed a quest I set myself almost 20 years ago.

Ever since I did my original playthrough of Oblivion I wanted to replay it and do everything. Ever question, every dungeon - all of it (as I did in Skyrim). And I just did it. Can't believe no quest got bugged. Have all map markers and my quest log is empty except the infinite arena one. I even completed the damn Nirnroot quest…

Was it worth it? Fuck no. But I'm stubborn and did it anyway.

Jokes aside, the game was a good throwback. Overall not as good as I remembered it. At the end I do have to say that Beth did better with Skyrim, even though it has worse quest lines. The better world and dungeons easily made up for it.

But anyway, now to Shivering Isles. Never did that one.
