What game are you currently playing?

Playing through Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time and I'm astounded by how they somehow made the cyberpunk genre feel so boring and cliche. Granted, I don't think I'm all that far into the story yet (a few hours into Act 2), but so far it's very underwhelming. If its current state is lauded and hailed as a return to form, I shudder to think how it actually was at launch.

One of the biggest flaws I can think of, so far, is that it's a game with very little to no meaningful environmental level design. I tried turning off the HUD because it's quite an overwhelming game in terms of sensory overload, with all kinds of action stuff happening and the (useless) information you get from your HUD, but after having tried that out for a while, it became quite glaring to me that most of the time the game's clearly designed with the mini-map in mind (or, god forbid, even a floating objective marker).

Anyway, so far I'm not impressed.

I got back into MechWarrior 5:Mercenaries with the new DLC they just dropped that brings over a lot of the clan models from MW5:Clans.

I'm enjoying the game much more than I think I did the last time I tried it a year or so ago.

At its heart it's a Hunting Action title - tinker with builds between choosing quick co-op or solo missions from the "Quest Board", as you progress your Mechédex / Salvage 'em All while Space Mom (Kate Walsh) patiently explains 31st century geopolitics to your idiot-savant MC.

I do like their approach to integrating DLC : as the timeline of the world progresses (your career spans multiple decades), missions related to specific DLCs become active or retire; new tech is added to the drop pool more-or-less when the lore dictates it was invented/discovered, etc. And if you want to skip all that, you can quickstart to the beginning of the timeline for each individual DLC.

Worst game ever.
After 10+ hours, I still had no idea how the combat system worked. I got into constant epic five minute battles with grunts.
The game has a fixed camera, with completely linear paths through narrow spaces. Something like that in 7th gen should have been 720p and 60fps locked. Instead, it's 576p with zero anti-aliasing.
The ending "features" a minute and a half cutscene right before the final boss battle that can not be skipped. If you die, you have to watch it over again. And the boss fight has SEVEN stages, including fast QTEs at the end of each stage, which, if you flub a single input, will steal half your life and make you play that stage over again.
I couldn't finish it.

-37/10

Done.
I moved it over to my 360 and resumed from my Cloud save.
I had to utilize an exploit that I discovered in the final boss fight in order to complete it.
This officially moves into first place as the worst game I've ever completed, bumping Lichdom Battlemage down a spot.

Highly unrecommended.

The opening of the game sucks ass. So much. Imo.

I've beat the game twice. If you want an open world cyberpunk game. This is it.

It picks up and man that damn sound track goes HARD.

I can not stand the opening myself. It's drawn out and takes what feels like ages to me

It's a three game rotation of Silksong, Star Wars Outlaws, and Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar. All are excellent in very different ways. Probably shouldn't have got so many back to back but here we are.

Regginator Regginator I can confirm this. The game does pick up big time later on. The beginning is such a slog.

I have said so from the start, I thought the developer were half arsing it most of the time.
I think most of the guys who liked it are expecting different things.
I wanted a better Deus Ex, which is admittedly difficult to make. But this is just unremarkable, wasted potential.

F.I.S.T.
Graphics are kinda nice, but also kinda pointless. There is stuff going on but I could not care one bit for anything due to the artstyle and the animal characters. I think I either would have wanted the typical Unreal/Epic steroid heroes, humans, or if we keep the animals, doing some proper oldschool Disney ie Cuphead thing, or maybe Pixar style.
The story is meh and whatever.
It's a Metroidvania game so above isn't really that important. Getting new items and reaching new areas is okay, with a couple of fast travel spots that keep backtracking minimal. I did not like the early arrival of dash, which I used thousands of times, to accelerate basic movement. Walking should have been much faster and adding dash should have been later. It's one thing to jump a million times in a game, but dashing everywhere felt and also sounded goofy.
Reaching 99% or whatever is pretty easy, since the map is doing a fine job in marking stuff, only thing not included are collectable posters. But for a few special things you either have to be extremely meticulous in trying everything everywhere or resort to guides and I guess knowing chinese is required to stumble upon one specific trophy action.
Combat is in theory complex with some fighting games like combos, and imho often odd timings as experienced in training challenge, but spamming the loaded punch is all I ever did while playing.
It's okay throughout, but nothing in it felt particularly recommendable.

How long in does it pick up? I played for maybe an hour or two, and dropped off but would like to give it a fair chance.
Depends on your playstyle I guess. Are you already at the point where you interact with Johnny?
I'd say around 3-4 hours until you get access to all the major questlines and things get real interesting.

Recently came back to Titan Quest after playing the early access of TQ2 for a bit, trying to finish my last few achievements (all I have left to do is complete the game with a couple of classes). I've mostly been farming the (not so) new Chaos dungeons for their exclusive sets recently though.

A few hours or so. Prologue and first act aren't great as your traversal options are very limited and gameplay is wonky as your character doesn't have any skills and special moves yet, but the moment the game finally opens, it hits hard. And then it's quite a ride

I hope y'all are right. Had to put in on the backburner since Silksong came out, but I'll return to it after that.

I think this was/is my biggest problem going into it. I expected an open world Deus Ex, something to build off of DX:MD in particular, which had a pretty open hub. In hindsight maybe an unrealistic wish, because Prague was super dense and I don't think an entire open world of that density and player interactivity is feasible (or desirable, even).

Anyway, so far it's more a GTA-type open world instead, with a cyberpunk setting. Which I suppose is cool if that's your thing, but it's not mine. Still gonna hold onto it after I beat Silksong, maybe it'll click somewhere down the line.

Tried to focus on Silksong alone but it didn't work. Currently playing 999.
999 is awesome, and a perfect game to kick off Halloween vibes. The game reeks atmosphere.

The second game in the Zero Escape Trilogy is still the best out of the three. The third one ended weirdly but I enjoyed that one too

I thought you only played Japanese games 👀

And soon....

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots

I am very slowly working through Story mode. I am using the Advanced Shot system and it is much better for me than the current meter systems. I am at a doubles Scramble match and I am getting my ass kicked!

Right now I am playing a Solo Round to practice putting with the Advanced Shot. It's going okay-ish, I suppose?

The scorecard in this is abysmal. It is so unnecessarily messy and complicated for no reason. I watch real golf and they should just exactly mirror that. Best Score and Handicap should be separate button toggles to view those. And there are small numbers that I don't understand at all.

I started Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2.

I played the demo on PS5, but wasn't really convinced it was a game for me, dropped in the middle of the story, people shooting at you for no reason, I was like « eh, not fun ».

But starting from the beginning, with the story and the great music + a mix of Tomb Raider with Assassin's Creed elements in it (or vice versa) makes it actually a cool game to play with

This is on my radar eventually, not sure when....but I am thinking I may enjoy this more than the Jedi game...(part 2)

I jumped into SMW 2 on SNES for the first time. It's a great looking game, but I'm not a big fan of the gameplay.

I also have been enjoying Hitman 3 again.

Currently Playing -

Warhammer 40000k: Rogue Trader - Near the end, a truly great game.
Wuchang Fallen Feathers - Chapter 2 - Loving it so far.

After those I will probably jump on Snake Eater or Cronos.

Since i don't know if i'm gonna like Borderlands 4 or not I've decided to install Borderlands 2 first and play that. I never played very far so i don't really know if i like it.

I've just finished Final Fantasy XII : The Zodiac Age (PC). I put 75 hours into it. :-O
I think that might be the longest single player game I've ever played. (Not counting titles I've revisited for the fun of it. i.e just concentrating on getting to the end of the story.)
No desire to bother with New Game Plus or some of the end-game weapons etc I missed.
Also... FF12: TZA is a hell of a lot better than Final Fantasy X and X-2.

Cultic Chapter 2 is out next week. I'm eager to play through that. Might re visit Halo: Infinite in the meantime. Haven't played it since day 1 and I need to shoot stuff.
After Cultic I might try FFXIII.

Yeah? I heard it was good and the 3rd was not - I need to get around to playing. I have the 3DS version of the second but have been putting it off due to a supposedly game breaking save bug.

I love the third game but I'm guessing that people are down on it due to the game ending abruptly with no follow up is all I'm saying. I do understand why people heavily dislike the third game

Cronos and its fkin great! Decided to pause today because i did the whole Steelworks part yesterday and i was actually exhausted af. Game can be draining mentally.

Been out on Quest for a while but just got it's PC release. One of the best VR games out there, especially if you're into dungeon crawling for loot and gold. Can go at it solo or in co-op and monsters do scale.

Felt the same. The game doesn't have many chapters but they stay for long and with puzzles requiring back and forth exploration. To add the constant tension of having to be smart against enemies.

I recently finished Cronos. I don't think it's a masterpiece but it's a great game. This and SH2R made me a Bloober fan.
I'm resting a bit now. Maybe will start playing Trails 1st next week.

Adding another game to the mix.

Call of the Wild: theAngler

If anyone has any tips, guides, advice, strats, or links on general gameplay and also secrets and hidden stuff, I am more than happy to take it! I am not looking tomax the game or anything like that, but I would like to know as much about it as possible. Secrets and easter eggs are a focus for me if the game has them.

Call of the Wild: theAngler (Yes, the stupid title is spelled that way. So annoying.)

  1. I hear animals while I am hiking through the brush to get to bodies of water. Do we ever see the animals? I haven't seen an animal. Is the animal audio just for ambience?
  2. Is there a manual save?
  3. Is there a way to fast forward time? Skip time? Wait? Etc.

That's refreshing to hear. I am going to play and decide for myself at some point, only reason I haven't is because I only own 999 and VLR, but not ZTD. Probably will pick it up on Steam or something, the Nonary collection is often dirt cheap.

I would say to play the last game and make your own judgement on whether you like or hate the game

Just picked up Into The Breach advanced edition. Playing on the switch. The console port of this game is so good, one of the best console ports of an indie game I've seen. The controls are fantastic.

The game itself is fun and the graphics are appealing.

Will pick up Balatro this weekend.

Driving like a madman over a very bumpy and wet road through a heavy rainstorm at night shown in 4K resolution! 😎

Is it still possible to ruin your front lights in one day stage and then end up driving in total darkness in the next stage which is at night? Like in Dirt Rally 2? I can't imagine that the real world WRC rules would prevent repairing the regular and mounting the extra lights for a night stage.
Also funny that turning off your lights might actually be easier on the eyes and offer better visibility sometimes. Blackish everything is sometimes less obnoxious than glaring lights and yellowish everything.

Finally focusing on Silksong and what do you know... they released a patch to reduce difficulty for some fights and increase rewards for some activities... Happy now?

I really wanted to like WRC, but it doesnt click for me somehow. I enjoyed some of the prior WRC titles from the previous developers tho. Oh, I loved Dirt 5 btw lol.

This summer has been a Doom marathon (until Eternal, I don't have The Dark Ages). Mostly replaying, with some expansions for the first time. Sigil is great (and tough!) and Ancient Gods proves coloured enemies is a bad idea for spectacle fighters and FPS arenas.

Played both Distraint games. Good story but a little heavy handed and the gameplay feels very walking simulator in a lot of parts (specially the first game).

Starting Dreams in the Witch House and...I think this game seems for me :) . Very promising mix of graphics adventure and open world rpg, and it feels very inmersive.
