What gaming subject are off the table on GAF?

I'm sure you've seen it, so I'm not sure what the continued questions are supposed to accomplish. The mods saw it, and locked it, so clearly they didn't consider the OP to be in violation of the piracy policy, but it has got to be as close to the edge as you can come.

No kidding. that's what I said. Though we'll agree to disagree that stating that pirated PC games are the definitive and best way to play them does not count as an "impression"

Not that I personally think anyone should be banned for that.

Yeah dude, for sure. Despite me clearly saying that I don't think the guy should have been banned for publicly deepthroating the act of software piracy I definitely think that all people posting Jack Sparrow gifs should be kicked from the forum. That logic follows.

If it were up to me, all forums would be completely unmoderated outside of linking to legitimately highly illegal content that would get the forum itself shut down., and maybe removing bots. I have never blocked or reported anyone on any platform and I never plan to. I have no problem with that guy exposing himself as a proud moron.

This whole conversation came to be because someone said "piracy topics are off the table" and I pointed out that a recent thread on the topic didn't result in a ban, so they aren't. I'm not sure what's behind whatever hard on you have to fight me on that, but if I had to guess it's because earlier in the thread I somewhat disagreed with you that Gaf has a pro Sony bias.

I'm a Sony guy myself, but have you read my opinions on their recent stuff? you'd think I was trolling.
Sony gets as much stick as anyone else and obviously you have it's defence team.

Yep. Fact of the matter is that each platform has its down "defense team". Some times folks take things too far. Was just a few weeks ago that I saw both Little Chicken Little Chicken and SweetTooth SweetTooth on the ban list. It is what it is
 
Wow when I saw the thread had been locked, I intentionally checked to see if he had been banned. He hadn't.

Either the timing was just so or they banned him later, maybe you budged the needle.

Someone shouldn't be able to influence public policy just because they have the most expensive PC, but that's the world we live in.

You're only allowed to post what you don't like about the industry and games. Positive posts or showing any kind of enjoyment of the hobby are occasionally allowed but strongly discouraged.

-Race or discrimination in games (saying you don't like the character or game because it stars a white dude for example or any other sex or race)
