I'm really surprised there are pretty much no zoomers at all here. I knew it'd be almost all millennials but thought there'd be a few zoomers at least.

I'm a millennial.

I swear, up to the early 2000's the classification for being part of 'gen X' was 1965 to 1981, with 1982 being the start of the millennial generation. But this shifted for some unknown reason (unknown for me) to 1965 to 1980. For the longest time, I assumed I was part of generation x. I was born February 14th 1981. Right at the cusp of the re-classified millennial generation.

Who are the authorities on these generational classifications anyway? What group is responsible for deciding when a generation starts and ends? Where do they even come up with the non-forward thinking naming schemes?

I'm barely an X technically but I feel much more attached 70s media than 90s so there's always an element of personal attitude.

'X' was chosen for effect rather than logic, then they just went 'shit well I guess the next one's Y'.

Millenial.

Born 1989.

But I must say that I still have a hard time believing that I actually lived in 80s too, even if it was only for several months.

Xennial was used for the transition period between the too cause they're so similar at the end of X and start of Y.

I'm not at all, so much of Neogaf's discussion of culture is "why can't we go back to...?" Or "they used to know how to make films/music/TV" ...that's what old people say.

I'm Gen-X but really don't identify with much of anything Gen-X related. I had access to computers/the internet at a really young age so in that way I'm like a millennial but I also don't relate well to them either.

I wish we could go back to not talking about this shit all that much.

Millennials in particular seem ultra obsessed with identifying themselves as such and never seem to shut up about it. "Oh wow we've lived through so many hardships!" Yeah everyone older than you still alive also lived through that shit you weirdos lol

Born in the 80s, watched cartoons, witnessed kids sobbing in the theatre at Optimus Prime being killed off, first album bought with pocket money was by Genesis , thought making fart noises in class would make me popular, recorded songs on the radio with cassettes, always forgot to rewind the VHS tapes.

There's no governing body, but folks typically go by whatever the Pew Research Center decides for the year delineations.

Aren't we the generation that invented trigger warnings and safe spaces and non binary? I'm not sure we are that cool. Cooler than gen z for sure but that's a pretty low bar.
Millennials are the most disappointing generation alive yes. Completely subservient and devoid of critical thought. We adopted all the same beliefs our parents had and doubled down on them. The npc meme was made for this generation.

I'm technically a 'Zillennial'. Which makes sense because I relate far more to the zoomers than the millenials, even if I am a year out as being categorised as one.
