Hmmm. There's a lot of validity to this, at least in my anecdotal observation.
When I was younger I played on various sports teams. It wasn't even anything formal or varsity, just pickup teams with my buddies in my hometown. The kinds of jokes we used to make on each other... Man, they were rough. And if you showed even a slight hint at being hurt/offended, you were absolutely done. You were gonna get wrecked. I don't know, I honestly don't ever think it was bullying; it built character and camaraderie, and gave all of us a "thick" skin. Because we all knew there was no hurt or disrespect intended.
I'm convinced that many younger people would not survive in an environment like that, with how much complaining there seems to be about hurt feelings and whatnot.
I don't really want to derail this important topic any further. You made a counter to something I said which I disagreed with, and you disagreed with my disagreement. Not much more to say. C'est la vie.
