I've tried a ton of different controllers, and this one takes the cake for me:

The switch 2 pro controller is pretty incredible and premium. It feels better than both ps5 and series controller.

i really like the razer wolverine v2 i managed to find one a few years ago at a good price, but the past couple years ive been using gamesir controllers, they are very good quality and at a decent price (under 100 bux aud)

  1. Dualsense

then there's a big gap, followed by

  2. Switch 2 Pro Controller
  3. Xbox 360 Controller
  4. DualShock 4
  5. Xbox One/Series controller
This is post by post mine.

If I wanted to shake it up at all I'd change 5 to 3, and make 5 Dreamcast controller.

For everything that doesn't need thumbsticks on PC (I have an original Saturn pad, but a DIY 8bitDo Bluetooth motherboard inside). Worth every penny, and I don't have to resort to full clones that don't replicate the silky d-pad anywhere near as good.

For everything that does require sticks..

Absolutely dog shit battery life, but everything else is the best of all current modern controllers. Never had drift myself, so I can't comment on that.

I'm also partial to a DualShock 3. It's light, has amazing battery, and in recent years, has great simple software for Windows. No more MotionJoy bollocks that we had to use many years ago. Dinput, Xinput, SDL, you name it. Incredibly easy to use now in everything.

Nice! OG Xbox pad (well the redesigned one)
Funny enough, the Series X is my first Xbox, so I don't really have any nostalgia for the older controllers. A lot of people say it's very comfortable, so I figured I'd have a more objective take on it since I've never used the OG.

I've only ever had one controller, so I thought it was about time to pick up a second, and at this price, why not give it a try

I've been playing Skate with it for a few hours now, and overall it's great. The sticks feel really solid, and I appreciate the Hall effect sensors. Even though I never had an Xbox, I did have a Dreamcast and an N64, so maybe I am a little nostalgic for bigger controllers in general.

Well I think it's the "type S" Xbox controller as was referred and it was fantastic

The "Duke" which was the giant OG one. Well, it absolutely was too big and felt kinda weird. You got used to it. But the redesign was absolutely amazing.

I might need to snag that $35 little treasure

well, my opinion kinda bias toward PS controller since it's the only controller i used for last +20 years, last year i buy some button gadget for my phone which simulate xbox controller especially the way the place 2 analog, and i find that i keep missing button or analog when play game with that analog placement

Same price at Walmart although I grabbed mine on Amazon

I still think Hyperkin should have included a breakaway cable that lets it connect to an original Xbox. the OG xbox uses USB ports as controller inputs. they just rewired them and made them into a proprietary plug. so all you'd need is a breakaway cable with that plug, and maybe a switch to set the firmware into OG Xbox mode.

I would instantly buy these if they did that, even tho I had bad experiences with Hyperkin in the past.

Almost every PS controller has an achilles heel, and I can't in good conscious pick any of them without a major asterisks.

I wish they would release a PS5 controller that was the form factor of the PS1/2/3...but with really strong battery life, ps5 haptics, pressure-sensitive buttons (these were so cool). Make it heavy like the DualSense edge. I want it to be roughly the weight of a pistol.

DualSense edge is so close to being perfect (with the domed caps) but the battery life is ridiculously bad.

The ASCII pad for Super Nintendo. Literally better than the stock controller in every way including ergonomics.

I absolutely love the Dual Sense, and I just bought a black one to play together with my kid.

Has any one tried the HEXGAMING Ultimate Pro controller? It looks like a proper "elite" Dual Sense, but the price is a bit hard to swallow on Amazon Spain!

Playstation for me- always has been. Switch Pro controller isnt too far behind.
Though i remember not too long ago people glazing Xbox controllers hard core. So im surprised to see playstation in the lead here.

DualSense I think, but they ruined it with shitty sticks that drift. The haptics are amazing on it though. Outside of that I really think the Xbox 360 controller was awesome and I love the 8bitdo Ultimate.

The Gamesir G7 Pro Wuchang controller was a true nightmare to get working wirelessly.

For two reasons...

The controller didn't connect with the dongle at all, plug and play? Forget about it. Ymmv on that though.

Gamesir recommended to use a tool on PC to force/fix the pairing issue. They have a tutorial and video of it. Basically you insert dongle into PC, the tool detects it. You do the same with controller, and have to press and hold d-pad left and up, tool doesn't detect the controller. Turns out you have to hold this button combo first before plugging the controller into PC. Took me fucking hours until a awesome Reddit poster suggested I try it that way. Insane that Gamesir doesn't have this in their "tutorial".

Used the controller in Borderlands 4 for about three hours and now Powerwash Simulator and it's great. Love how easily clickable the face buttons are and not having to press them in so hard as with Elite V2.

Gonna have to give it to the Wolverine Tournament Edition Xbox controller. That thing had a comfortable rubber grip, 2 big remappable back buttons (don't need 4 paddles), a looooooong ass cable, and lasted for 4 years before the shoulder buttons started to break. It even had little LED rainbows around the Xbox button.

I hope to fix it someday since they don't make it anymore.

Honorable mention goes to the GameCube and PS5 controllers.
