Fast Five, Fast 6 and Tokyo Drift I like more than every Mission Impossible film. But my interest in F&F is pretty much gone while Mission Impossible feels like it can run indefinitely.

I think I had more fun with FF franchise overall, but I like MI franchise more. It is just more immersive and less cringe family talk. MI3 also had brilliant antagonist in Hoffman. And I respect Cruise's dedication to his craft. He is no primadona.

My vote is for Mission: Impossible since it doesn't have the strange, triple-layered irony and is confident enough to be "sincere" and flat-out entertaining. A harder feat to pull off in these trying times when irony and "meta" can sometimes be the default, rather than a neat fourth-wall-breaking trick to be deployed sparingly.

These two franchises are like pizza and ice cream, though. Both good in their own way.

I'm offended by the comparison alone, the winner is obviously Mission Impossible. Imo Grildon Tundy nailed it, Mission Impossible is good enough to be serious, The Fast and the Furious franchise can only survive by being "ironically" stupid.

Both started relatively grounded and grew more and more ridiculous, but Fast and Furious makes it feel fun and Mission: Impossible makes it feel dumb. It's probably fairer to compare Mission: Impossible to James Bond though, but I think next to the Craig-era Bond films it can't hold a candle.

honestly never watched any of them (As far as i can remember) but i'm going to say Mission Impossible. Fast + Furious looks like a bunch of edgy people knocking about in cars. Mission Impossible has a really popular/famous actor as the main character and i think it's not just all about going fast in cars. I've seen Tom Cruise on trains, planes, cars, and other shit.
