It's important to understand that, first, everyone's talking in the same room here. In general, any word or expression we keep a watch out for is going to be because of how it's going to be taken by the people to whom it's the most hurtful, not the least. That isn't a US-specific rule, it's a general consequence of how we have to deal with people from around the world all interacting with each other in a big, rapidly-churning community.
But second, suffering... what, exactly? The inability to insult people with a rude name? However different the meanings of a given word may or may not be elsewhere, it's still just an insult -- something that (at best) you slag off your friends with and (at worst) you say to hurt another person. It's not gonna kill anyone to have to spend an extra two seconds thinking about how to express their anger about a football match or a pop performance.
I think most, if not all, of the pussy tags are just puns about people with cat problems.
All the ones I can think of, anyway.
