Did some flip flopping over the years. All have served me very well at most points.

No preference really, right now I have series x, previously ps4. I like the controller more and game pass is good value. I think xbox first party is underrated based on the games I have played so far.

PS as I love their single-player exclusives and also many of the japanese third party exclusives they get. Also controller layout and the DualSense functionalities in case of the PS5.

Second place goes to Nintendo. Always got their consoles and portables too since the N64. Here again, because of their exclusives.

Third place goes to PC, mainly for MS exclusives because I hoped for a MS turnaround this gen, but for now, I didn't have any reason to turn it on for gaming. My hopes aren't dead yet, thou.

I'm on team Xbox. I've tried to enjoy PlayStation but I've had and sold many Playstations and Xboxs which were mostly impulse buys. I had an OG Xbox as a kid and it kind of just went from there. If I had a PS2 or Nintendo Gamecube back then maybe things would be different now. All my progress is tied to my Xbox account... my achievements, friends, game library, etc.. I also don't like PlayStations trophy system because it feels like the only thing that matters is the Platinum. I'm used to the Xbox controller layout as well.

I've been really happy with my Xbox Series this gen I've got it set up to a monitor with mouse and keyboard like a PC setup (using edge to post this now, its very functional with the new edge update!) Getting gamepass ultimate free every month through microsoft rewards is such an insane value too. I'm relatively poor so I even if I wanted to buy a PS5 and pay $70 for their releases I couldn't anytime soon.

Hard one.

I play mostly on Xbox at the moment, a lot of online gaming combined with Game Pass. I don't care about achievements, which makes me happy to just try any game. Xbox has games like Halo and Gears that are evergreen for me and contribute to hundreds of hours of game time.

I'm invested in platinum trophies on PS so I'm selective of what I play. It's Sony first party and From Software games exclusively. There's a few exceptions: 3D platformers due to their heritage on the ecosystem (Sly, Spyro & Jak) so I also play games like A Hat in Time on PS.

If the joycons weren't shit and I could use my Switch as a handheld I feel like I would have put way more time in to it.

In terms of overall system experience, the Xbox wins me over. The dash customisation reminds me of the XMB (a great thing IMO). Being able to pin groups or individual games or the quick resume bar to your home page, dynamic or static themes, changing the colour scheme, uploading your own wallpaper or gamer pic, being able to sort your games by size/alphabet/console type/last used, Smart Delivery, enhanced back compat, Quick Resume and free cloud saves. It's a very convenient and smooth package. When they add game streaming on console it'll be even better. No more 50gb downloads to try a game out, and an easy way to maintain log in bonuses when you aren't regularly playing.

I've always loved my consoles since the age of around 6. I pretty much owned all of them in recent memory and as many here gaming is my main hobby. It wasn't until I was around 26 I got my first proper gaming rig. It just absolutely changed the game for me and breathed new life into my hobby.

Consoles were fine and ignorance is bliss, but PC just opened up a whole new world of options. Backwards compatibility is a big thing here for me as is my dolphin emulator. Options are limitless on PC.

However as of right now with with parts being hard to get for upgrades I've fallen in love with my Series X. The graphics and performance for the most part is great out of the box and some games like Forza Horizon 5 are better to play on my Series X than my 2080 due to graphical options present in the console version and not in the PC version. Also 4K 120fps in games like Ori made me play the game there as opposed to PC. The console ease of use has me won over at the moment since the consoles are no slouch this time round and my framerate needs are met.

PC is my main platform and it gets my vote, but at the moment I am riding that Xbox wave heavy for some titles.

Playstation for me but that is an unfair vote because never had any other system after the Megadrive2 (can't afford 2 systems), was giften a ps1 and got hooked by the exclusives.

Identical to how it has been for me. Besides NES, I played on C64 and Amiga during the 80s. I had a short crush on Dreamcast during it's first year too.

PlayStation is my favorite ecosystem since the original PSX. I love hanging out with Sony. Before their introduction I was mainly in the Sega-camp. Nintendo is up and down, but currently they are way up. The Switch is a fantastic system and is probably going to end up as my favorite console of all time. So right now PlayStation and Switch is a beautiful and potent combination.

Hardware wise, PC
Everything wise, Xbox/PC

I would typically say that the software wise, the third party jrpg kept me more locked to the Playstation ecosystem however the fact that pc has grown into a viable platform for most of the studios (barring ff7 and atlus), I haven't been tempted to buy a ps5 yet.

Rocking a 3080pc and a series s.

Are you that surprised? GAF values graphics above everything else, so Nintendo is not gonna be GAF's favourite system.
Its legit a mixture of hilarous, bewlidering, and concerning how some people equate good games with graphical fidelity. I guess graphics fall under the gameplay category nowadays.

While I love playing games on all my systems, I'm not going to lie I will choose the Playstation version over other versions most of the time for the trophies especially among other reasons. But sometimes ill get the switch version of a game to enjoy portably as well. But in the end, Ill just get the games I want on whatever system I can for it.

The switch is handy while traveling but the build quality is just terrible. And then the online and whole ecosystem is not exactly stellar...

Edit : voted PC, by far the best experience for me and the system that has the most games I'm interested in

Xbox Series X. I have had every console since the PS2/XBOX/Gamecube/Dreamcast era and I've played everything from shooters, racing, RPGs etc. And this gen the Xbox won me over, possibly permanently, with Game Pass and the library. I've always liked their controllers, even the OG Duke.

I had a PS5 and Switch but I sold both of those. I can't really play JRPGs anymore, they're too long and repetitive, I prefer shorter arcade like experiences. Basically went from Tales Of and Final Fantasy to Call of Duty, Halo, Doom and Forza

Like all 4 of my machines but I'm finding my xbox is getting a lot more time lately…might change early next year with hzd2 but for the moment I'm a green rat :)

Quoted from a different thread:
I like Xbox. I am clearly in the minority as Xbox consoles sell like shit, but they truly are the better devices here with the more interesting games.

There were some excellent games on the original Xbox and while it was called a personal computer in a gaming form factor, that was also the beauty of it. Jade Empire, the Kotor games, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, Fable, Halo, the Oddworld games, Serious Sam, Splinter Cell series, Morrowind. I still want to play Arx Fatalis too. On the 360: Project Gotham Racing, Gears of War series, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Condemned 1/2, Dead Rising, Earth Defence Force 2017, Crackdown, many XBLA indies, Saints Row. Viva Pinata was good, fuck you. Most of the Xbox One generation was lost due to a bunch of loons in charge of the thing, but the Series consoles are shaping up to be great. And a lot of these are actually playable on the Series S/X!
Xbox is my console ecosystem of choice, and the backwards compatibility program is some solid engineering. I've recently played GTA IV and it runs at a flat 60 FPS. I also believe that my digital games will be available a decade from now, which is something I know won't happen on my Switch. Can't wait for the 30th anniversary. I'll probably play some original Xbox games by then which I already have on my account right now. God bless.

But why is GAF crazy about Elden Ring then? I would say Nintendo as the main gaming system is more a casual gamer thing and on GAF there are no casual gamers.

Depends on which game I am playing, on which system, so my vote could change on a monthly basis. If I had to be pushed, I'd go with PlayStation because of the controller, which is really the only meaningful differentiator between them.

Have been team Xbox and PS since then PS360 days. Gaming on Series X and PS5 have shown me two vastly different deliveries of gaming that are different but equally enjoyable.
intend to build a PC with 6800xt/3080 gpu, but not at these prices.
If I only had to choose one system, it would be PS all the way. Because exclusives (yeah, thats right).

I voted PlayStation as there is where I have been playing the most this year with my PS5. Last year I would have voted PC and I would have again, but I spent my PC upgrade money on new consoles since finding a new GPU at regular price was impossible. And I'm surprised that I am actually pretty happy with way things turned out. Both my PS5 and XSX are very impressive systems.

PC because of customization and highest fidelity/performance, but all of them are cool.

The Switch is comfy as fuck too.

PlayStation, for the 1st party exclusives. Also Nintendo for the same reason I guess, but the Switch is so shit in general and I haven't used mine in months.

I don't have a "favorite" piece of plastic. I just play whatever games that I want to play on the piece of plastic that has the game at the best price point. My time is split about as evenly as you could get

You really need a poll for that?
right? if OP had simply PM'd me i'd have told him the result of his poll. The majority of this forum are PS fans.

PC.

I'll wait for a Slim revision of the PS5 (I'm not even sure I ever want to buy a console again, we will see.)
the PS5 is the first PS console i haven't got at launch. not because they are hard as shit to get hold of...i just wasn't interested in it.

if Sony can get some exclusives that interest me i might be tempted to put some effort into getting a PS5 Slim or Pro whenever they came out.

PC.
More options and customization, better visuals and performance (if you've got the hardware), software is forward compatible with hardware upgrades, decades worth of backwards compatible content, cheaper games, free multiplayer, mods, emulation, all MS exclusives and increasingly more Sony games, Gamepass and also multiple uses besides gaming.

It's just a shame it's so ridiculously overpriced at the moment.
So Playstation is a close second to me with some really cool exclusives, good support from Japanese devs and a great price to performance ratio.
