what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Finished Pokémon Conquest... take that Nobunaga and your cheapo legendary!

Since its cooled down alil I'm taking a desperately needed break from handheld rpgs and began a replay of .hack//G.U. Vol.2 just a couple hours ago! Hoping to get through it before monday because why not have a random lil goal?

Im almost at the ending, but Tokyo Mirage Seasons has been a pleasant surprise :)

Its honestly the best rpg on the Wii U slightly above Xenoblade X, but you have to be somewhat tolerant of the not too original characters/plot and the music idol! themes, its really bizarre.

Now, this is not a Fire Emblem or Shin Megami Tensei game, the best way to describe it is a japanese entertainment RPG from Atlus with elements from both series, but its above all its own thing.

The graphics and presentation are quite impressive, lots of care was put into this from the battle stages to the attack animations, the sessions, dual arts, different magic and weapons, skills, etc. and how they affect enemies.

the scenarios all have little details and varied textures, shibuya looks like shibuya, the palace were you met Tiki is a beautiful green garden, sets are limited but look pretty.
dungeons have a lot of detail too, especially the third one and last two, one is a strange, night time Shibuya, with weird lights, eyes, cameras, model photos and shooting stars that honestly looks very nice.

Monster design is very SMT (i guess, im not familiar with it) but all are very cool looking monsters and enemies.

Sideques are kinda mandatory but if you take a liking to the characters you will enjoy them, there are like three for each character you can do anytime, and have special cutscenes, backstories and give you powerful attacks.

The worse things are, loading times get annoying and are too frequent, nothing game breaking but they are always there, weapon system is repetitive so you will get a bit confused at first, and then have to return to Tiki many, many times for new weapons/skills.as said before the plot and characteers are very anime so if you not have stomach you may get angry.

But yes. despite some problems its definetly worthy of the Fire Emblem name and i wish this wont be the last of the series on HD consoles. Atlus did a very good job its a shame Nintendo had to ruin the reveal
8.5/10

I just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and I feel sorta depressed.

I've been playing it since about November last year on the daily commute to work, so that's about 9 months having adventures with Riki, Reyn, Fiora and the gang...Laughing at the funny things they say, getting into cool battles and stuff. They were all such great characters and it's such a fun world with a great battle system, but I've done everything there is to do in the game, it really is time to move on...I'm gonna miss those fun, well acted characters and their charming dialogues.

Just finished up I am Setsuna a few days ago. I've been playing 7th Dragon III Code:VFD now. Really enjoying it. I like everything about the game, save for the fact that the frame rate is terrible in quite a few maps (only 2.5 hours in).

I mean it's fine, its just in some dungeon maps, but much like I am Setsuna's graphics. Even though I can look past them, I still got to be honest.

Once I beat 7th Dragon I'll probably play a short game or two. Been tackling JRPGs hard this year, and I love it! But I don't want to get burnt out!

2 Chapters left in fire emblem birthright. Amazing game, spent already 30 hours with it. Will finish it today.

I also started playing I am Setsuna, which is very relaxing to play. But I am not really far into the game. I would say 30% completed.

Oh and as a replacement for FE Birthright, I will receive my Tokyo Mirrage Sessions game today.

Finished Fates, (only have some Heirs of Fate DLC to complete) so currently playing Final Fantasy 6 and just started Dragon Quest 5 this morning. After that I reckon I'll zip through Dragon Quest 6 in time for 7's remake localisation, and probably get Final Fantasy 3 and 4, DS remakes.

I'm currently playing the first three Wild Arms games.

At the same time.

Finished Ys seven. Solid enough,.

Went back to Lost Dimension. Does anyone have a clue how the traitor system works? I feel like im clutching at straws.

Met my random goal of getting .hack//G.U. Vol.2 done before today was up! My PS2 was acting kinda flaky at times while playing... hopefully just hiccups an not signs of something worse!

Think I'll go through Star Ocean The Second Story next!

South Park Stick of Truth

I love the game, except for the parts where they try and teach you new fart magic.. Its hard as hell to get the controller patterns right, currently stuck with Randy in the bathroom as he teaches me new fart magic.

Just finished filling the entire Sphere Grid with Tidus on Final Fantasy X HD. Now to do that with everyone... ugh. At least I don't have to farm for Spheres anymore.

About 10 hours into Final Fantasy 12. I skipped it on PS2 because you couldn't change the controls. I'm liking it so far but the story is kinda confusing, alot of the cast looks the same.

A couple hours into SO2 and wowwww I'd forgotten overworld movement wasn't pathetically slow unlike the SO remake on PSP! Did SO2's PSP port also suffer from sad slowness or make it through in good shape?

I completed Yakuza 4 which was an amazing game.

I'm replaying Tales of Xillia from Milla's perspective. I have the Devil arms unlocked for this run. I might be able to finish in 10 hours. Just rushing through the story.

I also went back to Legend of Legacy. I'm now at the Shifting Sands area.

In Tales of Hearts R, I'm doing steady progress. I have all the playable characters with and I might be like 2/3rds through the story.

Currently playing 7th Dragon III Code VFD.

Took a while to get into it, and I still think the dungeons are kind of boring, but I'm starting to dig it. There's such a big emphasis on hunting dragons that regular combat kind of becomes boring/obsolete after a while though.

Also thinking of firing up Star Ocean 5, or maybe Xenoblade for the millionth time.

I've been working on a save of Arc the Lad 2 for years now. I either get sidetracked, or become frustrated. Splitting the party up after several hours just drags the game down IMO, with too many battles where you engage in boring combat where you control a couple of characters, or even fight solo. Ugh. After putting in a couple more hours, it kinda feels like I'm going to stop again, but I always wanted to finish it, since I'm a Working Designs fan.

Noooooo I just lost an hour+ in SO2 of leveling up, buying/selling stuff, pickpocketing, and talent unlocking cause the game froze >_<;

edit: Ya know what? With both the game & my hardware glitching out on me, I'm fighting back! Forged Medal + Dream Bracelet glitch to L100 for the win! Time to blow through the whole second half of the game lol.

Got done with SO2 yesterday. Was hilarious how being L100 trivialized all of Energy Nede lol. Started on Golden Sun: The Lost Age and I'm already remembering an being wary of two things: Air's Rock an the fact that at least half the game is a trident fetch quest iirc.

For some time, I was burned out on Tales games...

I am now playing:
Tales of Xillia on PS3, mopping up some trophies but probably not platinum.

Tales of the Abyss 3DS, more than halfway through the game.

I'm also playing Tales of Hearts R. I'm prably in the final quarter. Just got my airship.

I also have Tales of Xillia 2, Symphonia 1 & 2 plus the future arc in Graces f waiting for me. Then, I need to buy Zestiria.

In chapter 3 of Trails in the Sky, really enjoying it.

Does anything carry over into SC? Because I'm playing on Vita but I'd rather get SC on PC.

Every time I see a lltp thread I get excited about playing an RPG in my backlog but now it's got me into a situation where I have too many running at once. Right now it's

Earthbound - started this on n3ds and while ago and am just up to the second town

Trails FC - in chapter 1 now, I liked it but it was quite a long slow prologue so I got distracted with other games at the time

Trails CS1 - got it on VB sale and wanted to see what the fuss was and how the series transitioned to 3d

The World Ends With You - up to day 4, started this after seeing a thread recently.

But now I don't know which one to choose to go forward with!

Some very minor stuff does but nothing to stop you from making the switch. And, if needed, you can just download a complete save and import that instead.

Same here. Too many games, not enough time. Right now I'm in a handheld / retro mood, so currently I'm playing:

Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight (3DS)
I'm 10 hours into the game on story mode and I'm hopefully ready to beat the first real boss (as far as I understand I need to beat some big ass monster on the fifth floor). This one finally got me hooked enough to keep playing.

Dragon Quest 5 (DS)
I like this a lot so far. I played DQ8 on PS2 years ago, but never finished it. This one is just great so far and it really takes me back to the awesome 16-bit JRPG era. I'm planning to get DQ7 on 3DS next month, it looks awesome, so hopefully I have this one finished by then.

Star Ocean 5, I'm in the Terpsichorean Genesis or whatever it's called, the final layer of the bonus dungeon. Hit the part where you fight shadow members of your team, that's been destroying me even though I'm almost at max level. That's the last boss before I can fight the Ethereal Queen and be done with this disappointing as hell game.

Also got my airship in Setsuna. A much less disappointing game that I was originally quite bearish on.

Playing Xenoblade Chronicles X

unsure to what extent I'm supposed to be rushing through story/affinity missions as opposed to just running around the world exploring, because it isn't always clear when or why content unlocks.

i'm done with chapter 5, but there are two continents I haven't even been to yet. Is that normal?

Dragon Quest VI, it has its moments. On one hand I enjoy going from story bead to story bead but already two times I've been lost and it took me at least an hour each time to find where I was supposed to go next.On the other hand glass cannon Nervan is a pain in the a$$ because he dies all the time and is at least four levels behind the rest of my party by now.

Fire Emblem (Gba) is so good. I have actually restarted the game cause I did not like my characters stats and I have zero frustration. I am liking this game more than I thought I would. great for my first Tactical rpg.

Tales of Xillia. It seems okay, but I don't really care for combat so far. It seems insanely basic outside of the link-combo system. In addition, i'm on hard mode and it feels like easy.

I recently finished Trails of Cold Steel which I loved and am now playing Persona 4 Golden. I have to say it's ok but don't get the love everyone has for the game. I have played many rpg's that I like better. Between the annoying, monotonous music, all the yellow and a very slow, basic story, the game is plodding along at 17 hours in.

Done with Paper Mario.

Started Quarantine, I needed a break from the series after marathoning the first 3 games.

Already killed two phases, I went through the same dungeon four times...

Been playing Disgaea 5. Still in the tutorial(story). Love the game. Lots to do and I've always loved the humorous dialogue in Disgaea games. After I'm done with that, I'll probably play FFX-2 or the new Star Ocean.

"Finished" Persona 1 and im fuming atm.

So i got an ending that was really abrupt and knew that it had to be a bad ending. So i looked up how to get the true ending and it's such a specific set of dialogue options you need to pick that there's no way you'll get it without a guide. And i had no save file far enough back to correct it.

But that would be all fine if they had a fucking new game plus+. I thought "well that sucks but i should be able to steamroll through the game in my second play-through right?"-fucking nope, start all over again.

So yeah, fuck that and Youtube the endings i say.

Same for Persona 4. It must be a Persona tradition.

Getting pretty far along in GS: TLA, I think! Even though it makes the story very light, I like how the games just a big opened ended adventure early on and even more when ya get the boat. Only problems are that moving around the world on foot or by sea is kinda slow cause its a big world and many places you can visit you can't fully complete on your first pass. Doing a ton of backtracking isn't super cool and ya don't get the Teleport spell until pretty darn late in the game iirc.

Already killed two phases, I went through the same dungeon four times...
Warned ya! Thats something ta look forwards to when I get to replaying it! Seriously hope ya didn't go for full dungeon clears each time!

I was playing Tales of Xillia 2. I still can't get through it. I could go on a whole rant on what the Tales series has become IMO, but I'm too exhausted to do that now lol.

Yea my xillia 2 has been rapped for a year....tales isn't the same....so I don't think I'm going to bother with the new titles just return to the old ones when I have a tales itch. (Just beat vesperia and symphonia about to restart graces f)
