what jrpg are you playing right now ?

bought Devil Survivor Overclocked 3DS now it's finally been patched in EU
played the first 2 hours and not feeling it so far, battles feel really slow & clumsy, especially after finishing FE:A recently - moving around that isometric grid, ugh
i've never played a Tales game, where is a good place to start? hardware not a problem

Does anyone have this issue like me?

I love rpg's and while I'd love to play them all, I just don't have the time.

I'm currently playing (well, taking a break atm and playing heavy rain):
Mugen Souls
Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2
Atelier Rorona

In my backlog, I've been dieing to play:
Ni no kuni
Star Ocean Last Hope
Ar Tonelico Qoga
Totori+
Meruru
Ayesha
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention

As much as I'd like to start those games, I'm trying not to get overwhelmed switching around between 5+ different rpg's. 3 is overwhelming enough.

Vesperia is probably the best Tales game period. Unfortunately, only the XBox version ever was released outside of Japan; the PS3 version had a lot of extras.

As for Overclocked, if you're two hours in that puts you at the end of day 1? It's probably the second biggest slog of the game since you need to grind to get enough Macca to face Wendigo. Once you have enough demons to start experimenting with their racial abilities the game really gets interesting. I like using Avatar race demons, makes those awful escort or protection missions so much easier.

I can only juggle 3 games at once. I like to put a decent amount of time in my rpg's. I'm the type of guy that explores and talks to everyone.

I'm currently playing Ni No Kuni and Persona 3 Fes

I'm kinda disappointed with Ni No Kuni. The first 3 or 5 hours are a tutorial drag, Mr. Drippy won't shut the hell up and the Battle system gets very dual. Magic points in the game waist very quickly, so you will find your self pressing the attack button a lot during battle and it doesn't help that Familiars can only carry 2 or 3 magic attacks. The side quest in the game are also very repetitive. The the majority of the side quest are literally just you talking to an NPC and then talking to another NPC, which leads you to go back to the first NPC you talked to that started the quest, MISSION COMPLETE. There are also hunt and kill quest, but those also get very dual and repetitive, since the monsters are easy and don't pose a challenge.

Persona 3 has a great story and lovable characters, but the dungeon levels in Tarturus aren't as charming as the ones in persona 4 and once you hit 200 plus floors in Tarturus, you start to reach your fill. The A.I. in the game doesn't make the ride any better and having to go up 8 to 13 floors to reach a save marker is a nightmare. right now, I'm currently up to the anwser, but I'm so drained from the journey that it's hard for me to continue.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on my 3DS. It's the first JRPG I've played in a while. I realized I'm not missing a whole lot, even though the game is pretty fun.

I can't put Fire Emblem down. Finished the game up but now I'm determined to get my streetpass team up to a higher standard so I can annihilate that one person with the game who I keep passing. Considering that his best unit in his team seems to have less than half the health of my worst it does feel a little like bullying at this point.

Ni No Kuni's sitting on my desk just taunting me. I wasn't even going to bother but somebody I know who rarely finishes 8-10 hour games sat and played through the whole thing and claims it's the best thing he played in years, so I guess I should probably get round to that.

There's also a copy of Contact around here somewhere I should crack open as well. Love me some Grasshopper and I should get these lengthier titles out the way during the summer holidays. Who needs sun?

Chrono Trigger on my iPhone. No clue why it took me so long to enjoy this gem. I love that I can play with one hand on the iPhone as well.

Persona 3 Portable

I love it, even though I don't know what the fuck I'm doing most of the time.
Social links, after school activities and Tartarus? I have no idea how they work I'm just fumbling in the dark with it.

I really like Yukari as a character, but I always seem to get stuck doing stuff with Junpei...who is an asshole.
I went into Tartarus and cleared all the floors till I hit a roadblock, then for like the next month I couldn't do anything there except visit past floors....

But like I said, loving it.

Ha, I think that's pretty normal. You'll get a hang of how everything works as you progress.

I'm in the middle of No Ni Kuni and Tales of Graces F. No Ni Kuni is boring me more than Tales of Graces F because of the slow pace (although I'm only 3 hours in).

Tales of Graces F is interesting except for how the character development. Hopefully that changes (I'm currently in Chapter 5 at the Fendel Mountain Pass).

Just recently finished Nocturne, Devil Summoner 2, and Symphony of the Night. I want to start Dragon Warrior 3, Dragon Warrior 8, or Final Fantasy X, but the time commitment scares me.

I think I'll start Shadow Hearts soon. Don't know much about the game, except that it has that strange wheel and takes place in China and Europe before WWI. Should be interesting.

Last Story is awesome. I am really digging how fast paced the storyline is. I love the characters, especially Syrene in all her alcoholic glory. The strategic battles are enjoyable as hell too. I remember spending a half an hour trying to beat that early boss you have to roll around like a ball to kill because I didn't know how to play on my first attempt with the game. This time it was fun because I actually knew how the mechanics worked. Seriously glad I started over because you really have to learn the gameplay systems to appreciate it. An HD port of this would be so nice.

Decided to quit P3P and go straight to Golden tonight.

You're in for a treat once you get to Shadow Hearts 2. One of the best RPGs ever, easily.

Shadow Hearts 1 is good too of course.

One of the few games I've played through in essentially one sitting because I was so enthralled.

can't believe I'm hooked on pokemon heartgold. It's been close to 13 years since I played a pokemon game.

superb series.

2 had the best sidequests. I'm distraught that there never will be a 4th one.

also, I was very surprised to see the koudelka reference in 1 when I played it this year. I thought it was a small cameo, but wow.

More Vesperia PS3. I just finished
killing Belius
and am doing some sidequests before advancing the plot. Patty is all kinds of fun to use; being a very versatile character like Raven but also altering the way her artes work by switching between different "forms" and that the random nature of many of her artes can work for or against you depending on how lucky you are. She's definately one of most unique characters in the game if not the whole series.

Trying to get back into Baten Kaitos Origins, but the difficulty just spiked hard. I'm at the split in disc 2 after Matar Highlands (deadly rain) where each character wants their own quest, and I keep getting wiped by the random battles.
Edit: Trimming the deck has been effective.

Beat Paper Mario TYD, which was a pretty cool game. Rage quit on my first attempt against the last boss 'cause it kept spamming drain twice every turn. When I tried again later it hardly used it at all. Very weird.

Almost finished Chrono Trigger DS. The end boss is still kicking my ass at the moment!

Now i started Tales of the Abyss on the 3ds. Looks awesome at the moment.

Still have : fire emblem, dragon quest 4, 5,6 and 9, 999 and final fantasy tactics waiting for me.

Loving my 3ds so far!

You should try putting more healing/reviving Magnus in your deck if you're still having some trouble.

just made it to the second part of heartgold after beating the elite 4 and the champion.

I also changed my avatar from kirby sitting on a bird, to kirby with a mic.

Made it to chapter 3 of WA3. I'm trying to remember how far I actually got in this game, although since I don't remember the prophets
getting demonized
, I guess I'm in uncharted territory. I'm also a little overleveled, I think: my party's in the mid-40s. Cruising around on the sandcraft gets me a lot of EXP.

I love how many dungeons are in this game. They're all small enough that they never feel like a slog, and the puzzles keep things interesting. (I hope the "bubbles" from Caging Tower do not make a repeat appearance, though.) Plus I can look at the world map and marvel at all the different places I've been.

Started Dungeon Travelers 2. Most ecchi game I've ever seen...

SMT Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers for 3DS. About 20 hours in and it's clicking for me. Really enjoying it and I love how the demon system in general works.

Don't forget you have to
beat the secret boss (among other things)
for the true ending, if you are on disc 2 you should be able to do it soon.

Its also one of the better wizardry type games out there. The company behind the development are actually fans of the series and you can tell with the game design. I find it all sorts of hilarious that a game which also has an insane amount of boobies in it, does a better job at wizardry than the more "serious" titles.
