what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Will be playing MONSTER HUNTER 3 ULTIMATE and I'll go back to my mom's place and get resonance of fate and get that running again.

well, when rome 2 total war comes out, it's gg mah niggasssssss.

finished FF IV, big disappointment for me. has not aged well at all IMO.

started FF IX after it immediately and it's blowing me away! incredible music, art and storytelling!

Playing ToX now. I had too high expectations for this game it seems. It's not bad, no, but, there is always but. Hopefully it'll get better as game progresses.

I'm about 3 hours into Shin Megami Devil Survivor overclocked at the moment. Looks very promising! Story seems interesting and the game is quite challenging (allready!)

I've finished my second run of Persona 3 about a week ago. I just finished Tales of Xillia today. I got to the final dungeon of ToX last week, but I didn't really have the motivation to finish it until today. I'm starting up my third run of Persona 4 Golden for the platinum trophy next.

Final Fantasy Tactics WotL. I'm digging it, but I fear I'm not playing it right because I find myself grinding a lot for certain battles (first the The Sand Rat's Sietch, now the battle in the map with the windmill)

I am in the Middle of a FF XII run, but also really far into FF X-2. I put Dragon Quarter down because of a corrupted save, but I'll be back before finishing the two FF's.

I have not gotten far in any of these before, FFXII hunts are eating my nights.

Pow pow demons and shit.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 and it's not as bad as I feared it might be. Actually it's pretty entertaining, even though it comes nowhere close to my favorite JRPGs.

Does FF XIV count?

Its a JMMORPG.

I say yeah, it counts. I'm playing FF XIV right now too and the game is pretty damn good! I'm also doing a play through of Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP, but only at work. For some reason, I get more enjoyment playing it at work due to limited time sessions. Once I finish tactics, it's on to Legend of Dragoon and then Xenogears. Bought those from the PS Store and downloaded to my PSP GO.

Playing Star Ocean 2 and Xillia right now. Enjoying both, but I find SO2 a bit confusing with its Private Actions and it seems all the additional party members are completely optional. Sometimes you only see people once that clearly should be party members (as they have names in all caps and appear on artwork), but I have no idea how to recruit them. The game isn't very helpful in explaining this. Also, the difficulty seems a bit unbalanced, one boss almost kills me, the next one is a pushover. Overall, I think I'm a bit overleveled. But I still like the game, makes me wish there would be a new Star Ocean game.

Does FF XIV count?

Its a JMMORPG.

Sure. Do the servers work by now? I still haven't registered my free 30 days since I don't want to waste them when I can't really play.

No wonder I couldn't log in if noone logs out. But I'd really feel stupid leaving it running all the time (besides I have the PS3 version and I still want to be able to play Xillia on the side.).
I guess since you still have to do this, this means the restrictions still haven't been lifted.

Well, since the levels of enemies scale in random battles, you should mostly only be grinding for skill points to level up jobs and get new skills. If you're doing that, you're playing it right.

Anyway, the WotL version is absolutely my favorite video-game story. The dialogue and story are simply flawless and wonderful. It is the...Citizen Kane of video games. :P

Currently playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

I don't understand the hate this game gets, but then again I never finished the originals. I'm not very far into it but I like the attempt at a fully realised 3D world, even if it means we lose the beautiful graphics that were on the GBA. It's very simple but slakes my thirst for the genre

I missed out on the NDS RPG era and am getting into it on my 3DS XL and am loving it. Can't wait to check out the new ones like Shin Megami Tensei

I finished SMT IV a few weeks ago and loved it. GOTY, easily. I was in the middle of my 2nd cycle run, but I decided to take a break and finish off a few other RPGs I've had sitting around.

(I posted this in the OT/Community section, but it's pretty dead over there so I'll leave it here, I suppose) Just got back into Ni-No-Kuni after months of hiatus. I picked it up at launch, but couldn't really get into it and shelved it for awhile. I've felt compelled for some reason to pick it back up again. I'm enjoying it more than I initially did, but there's still certain things that bother me so much about this game, mainly its battle system.

-I know it's been said countless times, but the AI truly is awful. I can't find a sweet spot between the piss poor options available in the "Tactics" menu. I just fought a mid/late-game nightmare boss and he had this moved that left poison shit all over the floor. Of course, other than the character/familiar I was controlling, the AI controlled goons would run right into the poison. Since every command/attack while poison causes damage, it was a pretty frustrating battle. There was no point in curing the poison because the idiots would just run right back into it. Honestly, I completed the fight solo and it was easier not having to micro-manage the other characters. Awful.

-This game REALLY needs a MP regeneration reward/option/accessory, something! I just gained access to the final quest guild reward/perk/whatever tier and I'm now saving up for the reduced MP cost. Hopefully, that makes the battles a bit more enjoyable. Again, no mater what "tactics" I choose, I always feel like I'm running out of MP. It's not like money is very common in this game either. Between the high cost of equipment and restorative items, I'm not too keen on sending money on MP restore coffees. Plus, a good battle system shouldn't rely on popping items left and right. The resource management in this game is really unbalanced.

-Is it just my imagination or is there no way to control who your AI controlled allies call out in battle? I find it infuriating when I bring new/low leveled Familiars into a fight/boss battle for EXP and I find my allies dying so quickly because they've mistakenly called out an incapable creature. Terrible.

-Is it me or is like EVERY enemy resistant to status debuffs? I swear, every time I try and weaken an enemies defense/attack/agility/whatever, it misses. What's the fucking point of these spells if their accuracy/hit rate is so fucking low? I've only ever seen it work, really, on bosses that were specifically designed to be debuffed in a way (like burden on the giant snake).

Ugh...god, I really do hate the combat in this game. It's like, not only does it just have a poor Pokemon-like evolution system, but the other, basic battle elements suck shit. It's really a shame too because I love the visuals and the soundtrack's fairly good.

...oh, and I'm also still playing Tales of Xillia. About 25 hours in. I like it more than Graces f, but it's still nothing too special. It's hard playing other RPGs after sitting through majestic, god-throne games like SMT IV. =/

Earthbound. I bought it when it came out and played a little but never had time to finish. This weekend has gotten lots of play time though. About 3/4 of the way through.

Definitely one of the prettiest games on DS, but man, they just didn't update the combat system and dialogue enough for it to meet today's standards in my opinion. There's still a lot to like about the game, though. I didn't hate it, but it was disappointing for me all the same.

Tales of Graces F. I picked up Xillia yesterday, but only played enough to know that I like it,. Went back and spent three hours with Graces F last night and it finally clicked. Battle system is awesome, the eleth mixer is a great concept, love mixing stuff with dualize, the world is nice and colorful. Hell, I even dig the characters and story so far. With this and Xillia to look forward to I think I am going to finally enjoy this series for once. I always just jumped in and button mashed my way through Tales games before and got bored. But now I think I am starting to see how interesting the games' subsystems are.

I'm about to start Tales of Xillia in a few minutes lol. Didnt like Vesperia or Abyss, but loved Graces f.

Taper your expectations then, friend >_>

I have not played Xillia yet, but I can tell you that it's from the same team that made Vesperia and Abyss.

I'm starting Final Fantasy XIII-2. So far it's a good game, seems like they improved on what I didn't like on FFXIII.

on the queue is:
-Tales of the Abbyss (3DS)
-Tales of Vesperia (X360)

I just reached 45 hours in persona 4 golden and its amazing so far! I'm planning on trying persona 3 portable after I beat p4g. Any others I should plan to get on my vita?

Just finished the main story of Tales of Vesperia for the first time and loved my time with it.

Will be moving on to some new games and giving ToV some space before going back and doing some of the optional stuff, as I'm told there is a lot of it. Will probably re-visit it early next year when I emerge from the mountain of games coming down the pike this fall.

Finished Grandia yesterday. I liked it. Biggest issues for me were the insane amount of dungeon crawling and the terrible voice acting. It's still the best Grandia game in my opinion and the sequels don't even come close. Especially Grandia 3, which I found particularly terrible in every aspect.

Enchanted Arms.

Weird and flawed, but with tons of personality and certain spark to it.

Anyone else played it?

Yup, EA was one of the first games I bought with my 360! "Weird and flawed" is right. I did like the battle system's use of both party characters and summoned monsters, plus anything grid-based is generally fun for me. But my God, the plot. The voice acting. The utterly ridiculous late-game "plot twists." The voice acting. The seven-stage final boss fight or however long it was. The voice acting.

(Well, really, my criticisms could probably apply to quite a few JRPGs.)

On the plus side, it was a pretty game (to my recollection, anyway), and it was really easy to get all the achievements. :p

As someone who hates Dolphins, I was lmao at this npc:

Why, what'd they do to you?

This weekend I went to a vintage video game store in San Diego called Luna Video Games. There I picked up saga frontier 2, lunar 2, vandal hearts, baten kaitos origins, pokemon soul silver and hoshigami remix. Good choices?

They are all good except Hoshigami.
Try it and you'll understand why.
