What NCL games do you predict for Revolution Launch

I expect one new franchise, Wario Ware (they're cheap to do and quick if needed) and Mario Kart GP Online ported to the Revolution. Mario will come close, later Metroid Prime and Smash Bros.

This in a mid year timeframe.

P.S: StarCraft should be done on the DS.

If I were at NOA, I'd secure Starcraft: Ghost as an exclusive.

Is it just my bad memory or wasn't Starcraft: Ghost once a GCN exclusive? It was first enveiled at something in japan...? Same time they announced SC2 was coming to GC (thought to be exclusive at the time too)

New Mario title (guaranteed)
Zelda TP with some sort of Rev functionality (fo sho)
MP3
Wario Ware

That will wrap it up. Wario Ware is an absolute necessity to show off all the wacky shit the Revmote can do. If it isn't wario ware, it will be Mario Party and the same concept applies. Show all the diverse functionality of the controller. And this game will almost assuredly use ONLY the revmote, no nunchuk (or any kind of) attachment.

I expect SSMB to be out within 6 months of launch. Nintendogs follow up in '07, probably on both DS and REV.

Launch Day

Donkey Kong Revolution or other EAD Tokyo project
Pilotwings Revolution or other NST project
Super Smash Bros. Revolution
New IP (EAD)
Virtual Console

Launch Window

Metroid Prime 3
Mario 128
Pikmin 3
Golden Sun Revolution
Animal Crossing Revolution

That'd be a dream launch of first-party software for me.

Remember, the Revmote was supposed to have originally been conceived as a GameCube add-on.

Yeah, which made me super excited, but then he goes on to say:

IGNcube: Can you give us an update on Mario 128?

Shigeru Miyamoto: [Chuckles] I'm just really sorry. I think I've given people the wrong impression with Mario 128. With all the questions I'm getting about this, I really feel like I've done people a disservice. In regards to Mario 128, we're currently doing a lot of Mario experiments back in Kyoto. We are definitely going to have a new Mario for Revolution. Whether or not that's 128 or not, I can't really say. It might be a new Sunshine. We're not sure. We're doing a lot of Mario tests right now for the Revolution.

That doesn't fill me with too much glee. :(

I don't think that is the case. Nintendo was working with several different ideas and controller mechanisms for the GameCube. Microphone, Konga Drums, Game Eye, Dance Matt were the only ones officially announced. Anything other than that, is complete speculation. The Revolution controller remote was definitely a culmination of ideas leading to a new product.

There are probably three lead teams working on Revolution software. Mario 128 team, Stage Debut team, and Pikmin (New IP) team.

Nintendo hinted at it. They said they had an accessory for GCN planned that was significantly boost its life, it never surfaced.

Mario Revolution
New IP (probably one of those "non-games")
Wave Race (back to NCL, though Blue Storm was great, so it doesn't matter which develops it)
Super Smash Bros. Revolution
Wario Ware Revolution

I think that'd be more than enough for NCL.

a new pilotwings could really show off the controller, like it complemented Mario64 back in the day to show off the analog stick...

make it happen Nintendo --- : { i want Revo birdman for a rainy day

Didn't Iwata say he "hoped" Miyamoto would make a Mario game for the Revolution's launch or something like that? That's not a very concrete statement, but I would be amazed if there isn't a Mario game at launch.

US launch:
-Super Mario Revolution
-Metroid Prime 3
-New IP (non game-ish)

US launch window (1-2 months)
-SSBM Revolution
-Animal Crossing

Japan launch:
-Super Mario Revolution
-Animal Crossing
-New IP
-Nintendogs Revolution (or something like it)

Having Mario/SSBM/MP3 all on launch day seems unrealistic to me. I would like to see all games that early of course. I'd guess that MP3 is a lock for the US launch.

New Mario.
Something totally new and original.

I'd hope for more, perhaps, but the above are my expectations.

Whoever said Excitebike gets a fuckin merit badge.

Seriously that would be awesome.

Excitebike 64 pwned my ass for like 4 months.

Why is everyone naming 3-4 and sometimes FIVE games they expect at launch? Nintendo has never ever launched with more than 2 Nintendo published games at launch. Not once.

I think for them to get noticed properly again in the west, an FPS at launch is critical. Was metroid ever supposed to launch with the rev?
I don't know that they've actually said so, but given that it's the only one they've actually shown and they'll have been working on it since the release of Metroid Prime 2, it seems a better guess than... anything else.

Oh fuck, please God no...anything but the next Mario being a Sunshine sequel. The entire game-world of sunshine felt divorced from anything Mario.

I'd love for Mario Revolution to return to the essence of the series - that kind of fast, fun, arcade experience with dozens and dozens fo levels, and wacky enemies (I don't like all these new additions - it feels like there is a lack of continuity with the classic Mario enemies)...oh, and 2 player mode obviously

...but I know it won't happen in Mario Rev :(

I'm sure he meant for a console, and I agree totally.

And really, having more than 2 major Nintendo titles at launch is unnecessary and will only cannibilize sales. In my magical fantasy world, Nintendo will release Mario 128 and MP3 on day 1. SSB follows up a few months later.

All I know is there better be some kind of 3d platformer or I'll be very unhappy. But luckily I do think we'll see a Mario game at launch.

Nintendo DS in Japan launched with 5.

Oh, yeah. Shiggy also said that DK: JB was worth more of his time than Mario 128 in another interview. Forgot exactly what he said, though...

Something similar to the JP DS launch lineup is what I expect.

That means:

Mario Game
Warioware / Mario Party Game (probably the former)
1-2 Unique Games to show off the design of the system. (Music & Cooking game?)
Some Nintendo Character Spinoff game (I doubt it will be Pokemon again, since there are several Pokemon games coming out this year already).

I'd think Smash Bros. would come out soon afterwards, maybe in December like it did for Gamecube.

Super Smash Brothers Revolution with WiFi was confirmed already, but I assume there will be more titles to push Nintendo's WiFi service. Metroid Prime 3 will be one of them (looking at Metroid Prime Hunters), and franchises like WaveRace, 1080°, F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart,... lend themselves very well for WiFi gameplay, so it'll be just a matter of time before we'll see those titles surface, either at launch or later on.

Still, I believe Nintendo will focus more on new and innovative titles, rather than relying just on proven franchises alone. Miyamoto is rumored to work on two new IP's, and the rest of Nintendo will be hard at work as well.

I'm betting on Mario 128, Metriod Prime, and Wario Ware at launch. SSB:R before Christmas. Then Mario Kart GP (Wi-Fi) and Luigis' Mansion 2 before E3 2007.

I wish. :D

Really, I think Nintendo will need to pad the launch itself, I don't expect much in the way of 3rd party stuff for the first year. (I mean Nov launch to Dec 31.)

I think Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. will make it for the launch window. You know, I wouldn't be suprised if Revolution launched with 2, maybe 3 titles. Atleast one must be top-tier, mind-blowing stuff.

Mario 128 is iffy. We don't know if it is still some unusual concept, if it is half way in developement, or if it is full-fledged and ready to go. No matter how IMPORTANT iwata stressed for a Mario launch, it WILL NOT be released until it is spit-shined.

If they launch this year:

Mario Sunshine port tweaked for the remote.
A "non-game" like brain training.
A new Wario Ware.

If they launch in 2007 you can add Smash Bros and Maybe Crystal Chronicles to that list.

For those saying Super Smash Brothers is a way off, perhaps, but just remember that there's a good chance they'll use Melee as a foundation. After all, it is already is up and running on the Revolution.
