I used to frequent so many but they have all turned to the dark side. Insane over moderation focused on political correctness has destroyed most forums. One of my favorite gaming forums started to have threads with parents cheering on their children's transitions and the like.

4chan and still sometimes the Maniac.de forums. But my usage of forums in general basically died off over the years. Mostly because most discussions moved over to social media platforms or centralized discussion platforms like Reddit. And these platforms are just fucking garbage bins.

I use to be on Bethesda and Ubisoft forums for a long time, but they closed them down and went to Discord, i'm not a fan of Discord, i made an account at Resetera at the same time as GAF but never used it or posted on it, and preferred the more open views on GAF, so just here now and years ago in about 2007/8 i was on the the 2 FEAR forums, one after the other, they were really toxic in the end and got shut down lol.

I dont think I was on that one. To be honest I mostly frequented speculation interest stuff in my younger days, not usually free for all until I got older

You didn't miss much, it was the early days of wild west Internet shite. It covered most games/mods.

I used it mainly for the bf1942 desert combat mod.

It was one of the TechTarget forums that they closed down last year. All of the others failed to move (NotebookReview had a divided community, and Brighthand were too small) and we had a very passionate and active member who led the move.

Yea, the only times I've visited that forum in the past few years is because I clicked on a link on Bluesky or Reddit and didn't bother to read the URL first.

Side note, I do still very occasionally post on Penny Arcade's forum, but that place is practically dead unless PAX or some other large event is occurring. Most of the weird (and ultra sensitive) members seem to have left so that's cool.
