the New Flash bar says:
21:36 ソニー、次世代プレステを年内に発売も。業績低迷を打開する起爆剤に
"21:36 Sony, Next gen Playstation will also be released this year.
Priming for the depression"

is this possible??

I guess there would be a REMOTE possibility for a Japan launch.

I think its still bunk but would love to be proven wrong. :)

Priming for the depression?

Priming for depression?
Is it really that bad?

Anyway

This year, that can't be right?

Guess we need our Japanese friends to patrol the Japanese gaming/news sites for more details.

I suppose Sony could have leaked something in advance of this XBox 360 media conference tomorrow/late tonight.

'Within the year' I think.

Well, that would certainly not be news worthy. Thats almost damaging if anything.

Not bloody likely, the media format isn't even nailed down yet and the current wrangling with Toshiba over a unified Blu-Ray/HD-DVD format risks delaying the PS3 release to possibly late 2006.

my question is :

what make Sony so hurry??
this is a handheld market failure announcement? or
is Sony afraid of MS or Nintendo? I really don't think so

Well, Sony certainly does not have to launch at the same time.

But more than 6 months latter could be a problem.

Worst thing for Sony to do is get cocky and go with the "We'll release when its damn good and ready" line of BS.

Delay you mean? Is that U.S. or Japan?

Japan.

I don't see the PS3 launching anytime earlier than Q2 2006 and it should make this timeframe if they can quickly nail down the media format and if they don't have any production problems with their more exotic hardware (i.e. cell). However, as I said the potential for delay is there thanks primarily to continuing uncertainty over PS3's media format, i.e. Blue-Ray or a unified Blue-Ray/HD-DVD format. I'd say Sep 2006 launch for US is a reasonable estimate if all goes well; Nintendo will be around the same time.

The Media format won't be an issue. That will be decided very, very soon and in plenty of time to put it into the PS3. Developers only need to worry about how much media storage space and transfer speed they'll have. And, for games, any approved format will have at least 30GB of usable space and minimum of 104Mbps.

why not Christmas? Just because you haven't seen anything yet?

Media is irrelevant, they don't have to burn discs yet, or even start making the machines just yet

Sony would probably like a 3rd December launch if possible.

Well clearly I'm just ranting, but its interesting to see so many people convinced they know when its coming, with very little evidence of PS3 at all from Sony.

You can't *all* be insiders.

Other than axsider (and we don't really know about him either), we don't have ANYONE claiming to know anything "insider" about the PS3 do we?

Certainly, the roundabout threads regarding the CELL, NVidia's GPU, BC,etc are pretty good evidence of that. Sony is much, much tighter lipped and will be coming out ~6-12 month later and yet some people expect PS3 news to match 360 news tit-for-tat.

Seems to be the full story?

SONY As for the SONY Yubara Takao execution part routine work, it responded to the interview of the Jiji Press, Ltd. to 12 days.

Same routine work among these, game machine "playstation for home (PS) concerning the next generation model of 2" "in the end of year trade war, portable playstation of portable type (PSP) with developing the PS next generation machine simultaneously enters into one of the choices in Europe and America", that if you express and are quick the possibility of selling even within year was suggested.
