What the f*** (Another Revo post).

Your linking skills could use a little work. However, cutting and pasting the URL into my bar worked. Oh, and I don't think it's real either.

I don´t like it because is ugly and because I expect more than a Dreamcast VMU idea second part.

But is curious because it seems the draw of a patent.

That's about the fakest thing to have ever faked.

It looks like an illustration from the back of a knock-off toy's box.

Yes, I suppose if they were "Back" and "Start" or other secondary buttons, I guess they would work. I was assuming they were more primary in function by thier size, and the fact that there's only two on the other side (discounting the tactile pad).

As an aside, the black and white buttons suck ass. I wish they were just normal buttons.

And it looks like they learned their lesson and moved them up top as shoulder buttons.

Exactly, the mockup looks like it has very awkwardly placed primaries, with the start button in the middle as with GC. Not the same as the Xbox S controller.

That thing looks like shit anyway. And what the hell is that thing hanging on the right side supposed to be?

Edit: Ahh just noticed it.

So if I create a pic of a fake controller, no matter what it looks like, and say it might be for the Revolution, people will then talk about it? Wow.

i can't believe you're just now figuring that out.

Yuck, I wouldn't want any console to come with a controller like that. Too complex, too many buttons, sticks... things.

HA HA i thought this thread was about the REVO...

was i ever shocked when i opened it to see the Nintendo Revolution discussed inside. :lol

That Revo truck is awesome. Been wanting to get one but my love for R/C helicopters doesn't allow me to get one.

Been reading its probably one of the best R/C trucks ever. Some rather revolutionary design elements.

Are you guys totally forgetting that patent drawings typically look nothing like their final products? Often they look like very rough versions of the final product with each feature spelled out and exaggerated to make sure the patent is very specific. Hence the squeeze buttons on the side being very large.

I would say exactly the opposite. It looks very legit to me, those sorts of pictures are filed with patent applications, they are always goofily drawn and illustrate the principle only, not the actual industrial design.

Fakers usually try too hard to get it realistic looking, but without the needed artistic and technical skills. This is pretty much the contrary.

I'm not convinced at all, however, that it's related to Revolution in any way. For all we know, it could be a patent application for the original Dreamcast controller with VMU attached.

EDIT: Damn you, StrikerObi.

wow, room for a memory stick, a touch screen and buttons on the right side dispite how thin it is!

All real pictures are blurry!

While it dose indeed look like a patent description, one wonders why the one who discovered it took a photo of his monitor… why not provide a direct link…
I don't think Nintendo would be the Assignee for whatever patent that is.

Speaking of patents....

Filed yesterday.

Adrenaline Feature For Sports Games.

Abstract

A method for controlling game play for use in a video game, wherein a plurality of possible animated actions can be taken by a game character in response to an input from a user provided through a game controller. The method includes: detecting user input from the game controller requesting an animated action by the player; reading an adrenaline value from a control element on the controller indicating a level of aggression desired by the user for the animated action; selecting an animated action from the plurality of possible animated actions based at least in part on the adrenaline value; and performing the selected animated action. ]

OMG IT KNOWS WHEN YOU ARE AFRAID [/rolleyes]

... IN A STANDARD XBOX CONTROLLER!

While the NINTENDO GAMECUBE video game console is shown in FIG. 1, the invention can be implemented on any suitable game platform capable of running sports games, including PC based games incorporating a game controller.

Heh, seems they are just patenting the turbo button. Another Nintendo Innovation!

Home video game system with hard disk drive and internet access capability

Abstract

An existing video game system is modified to include additional communication and storage capability via a modem and hard disk drive. The modification may involve the use of an expansion device coupled to a video game system port. A cable TV tuner is also included in the expansion device to assist in providing a unique picture-in-picture video capability. TV signals are coupled to the expansion device via the RF input from either cable TV or off-air signals. These RF signals are blended with the output signals from the video game system. A user may, for example, watch TV while viewing overlay information from the video game console. A user may receive a TV channel guide downloaded via the Internet, spot a program which the user desires to view and immediately access, via an IR input, the desired channel through the expansion device TV tuner. A user may also watch TV while simultaneously logging onto the Internet. A hard drive permits downloading from the Internet of entire games.

ha Nintendo patented x360.

don't a lot of patent applications look like that? as in, approximations?

it has to be fake, though a controller with an lcd built in would certain be interesting. imagine if it was touchscreen... you could select items/commands without ever having to bring up a pause menu.
