I usually tire of songs really really quickly so I don't usually listen to songs over and over.

Last one is probably Mahna Mahna by the Muppets, but it wasn't that many times.

Beatles - A Day in the Life (Best Beatles song by far) Also, did you know George Harrison sings While My Guitar Gentely Weeps? WTF?
What's so surprising? He pretty much sings one or two songs on each album. He wrote WMGGW as well if you don't know, and has a nice solo version with an extra verse. That and Something are in my top 5 Beatles songs; IMO he wrote as well as John and Paul at the end (although not as many obviously). He has a really nice voice too.

Oh and on topic mine at the moment is Angie by The Rolling Stones.

Whenever "Static" by Beck or "Time" by Floyd (the live version off PULSE) comes up on my playlist I generally give it a second or third repeat.

Lynyrd Skynyrd-Free Bird. Great fucking song.

Heh, playing right now, damn that song rocks :)

Recently:
Paul Weller - You Do Something To Me

Other past obsessions:
Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can
Coldplay - The Scientist
No Doubt - Simple Kind of Life (don't even fucking go there)
U2 - Walk to the Water

Odd, how the same (type of) songs keep popping up. And they're never cheery :|

Because it's now warm and sunny-skied in NYC, and to help with good memories of my recently dead grandmother who was from Rio, I've had Astrud Gilberto's Aruanda on repeat.

There's a land, Aruanda
Diamond sand, Aruanda
Silver stars on the hill top
Take me to Aruanda

Lots of fish in the stream near
Lots of dangers to dream there
Golden sun in the valley
Take me to Aruanda

There where nobody worries
There where nobody hurries
Easy life waving you're welcome
Take me there

Leave my sadness behind me
Let sweet paradise find me
Heaven waits over yonder
Take me to Aruanda

I recently spent most of my work day playing "Ai Senshi" by Daisuke Inoue, the second Mobile Suit Gundam movie ending theme, over and over again. There's just something about the Japanese Bruce Springsteen that you have to love - assuming you have a high tolerance for cheese, that is.

Today I've listened to Stan Freeberg's "Columbus Discovers America" routine from The United States of America Volume 1: The Early Years a couple of times in a row, but I seem to have kicked it, even if I occasionally break into "Round, Round World" out of nowhere while wandering around the office.

Not exactly looping the same song over and over, but I looped the first five tracks of Arcade Fire's "Funeral" not too long ago for an entire evening.

People keep bringing up New Order here, and for good reason. While New Order was never that great of an "album" band (no, Substance 1987 doesn't count), they have made some simply incredible songs that hold up very, very well today. I think I've repeated at least eight or nine songs by them over the years "obsessively". Last one being either "Regret" or the Substance remix of "Everything's Gone Green", which has a simply *tremendous* three or four minute non-vocal finisher that is New Order at it's genious.

Funny you say that -- Adam Freeland's playing in town tonight and I'm going to check it out. It'll be the best $10 I spent in a long, long time.

Try to record it...................j/k, I will pay 40$ for a orchestal version of "Rock anthem for saving the world" the song is that good, try to get it, I want to post it so everyone can hear it but I don't know if I will get some problems if I do that

Alek Szahala's track called Afternoon owl.

It's repetitive in the good sense (ie. if you look at some Daft Punk tracks).

But I can't get enough. I've been listening to it quite a bit for the past half year, and in my GeekMobile I have it on repeat :p

What makes it so enjoyable is that it's a sad song, but juxtoposed against a fast tempo and very electronic sound. Sad yet ravey.

The engineering and production is great too. It's extremely layered, painstakely filtered, and the end result is full and lush.

Even if you aren't into "techno" you should check it out to hear the best electronic music has to offer.

Since no one on this forum has heard it I made a clip of the track. In this clip the song doesn't really start until the middle of the sample, but I thought the portion made for the mix in was really cool too.

This last week it's been My Favorite Things performed by John Coltrane. Before that..., maybe Chief Inspector Blancheflower by The Fiery Furnaces and Fence Feels Its Post by Frog Eyes.

Not really a single song, but I recently bought the Band of Brothers soundtrack, so I've been listening to the whole CD.....over and over and over again. (and not randomly, but in the same order every time)

Feel Good, Inc. - Gorillaz

My all-time record was listening to Padriac, my Prince - Bright Eyes eighteen times in a row. That's when I figured out that I really, REALLY liked Bright Eyes.

EDIT: ABSOLUTELY OWNED BY SMILES & CRIES

Lately?

"Dreams" by The Game, "No Excuses" by AIC. Themes of darkness and loss are fairly prevalent lately, although it's starting to pick up, thank God.

I'm not familiar with Freeland's catalog unfortunately, but I don't think he played anything orchestral last night;-) He did however absolutely rock the joint, as he went to 3am (following a fairly good local DJ no less) with everyone going apeshit the entire time. When he threw down Nirvana vs. Freeland, it was reminiscent of being at a Nirvana show in the '90s and a really good rave; you just couldn't move since everyone was on the floor. I honestly didn't expect the show to be as good as it was, but the club was great, the drinks were strong, and the music was relentless. Unfortunately, I was a blank slate before hand and forgot to take just about anything save my wallet and my ticket.

He needs to come back. Desperately.

And to add to this: It's not nonstop Freeland remixes. He might actually make me like The White Stripes after all.
