Same PC, just upgrade CPU and GPU. CPU upgrade will be the last X3D chip to release on AM5. GPU will most likely be the 6080 or 6070Ti depends on price. If the 6070Ti is faster than a 4090 in games than I'll be happy with that.
There would've been a different PC as my previous one if it hadn't been for the mining boom as my GTX1080 kicked the bucket in April or Mai 2020 and my smart ass was like "lets wait for the RTX3080 to come out". I was thankfully able to get a PS5 pre-order in... but 4 years without gaming PC was weird.

I bought my previous PC in 2012. It was an i7 3770K with 16 GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX680 2 GB VRAM. However, I changed the GPU a few times over the years. I bought a GTX 1080 Ti in 2017 and sold it in 2020 for very good price. I used the standard GTX 1080 until 2024. In 2024, I built a new PC with a 7800X3D CPU, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, and an RTX 4080S GPU. If the next Ryzen X3D CPU is compatible with my current motherboard, I might upgrade my CPU. I am also planning to upgrade my RTX 4080 to an RTX 6080 even though Ada GPUs will probably last a long time. The new generation should offer better performance than my current GPU and have additional DLSS features and the newest display port.

I build my own pc 3 years ago before that always console my spec are. Amd ryzen 7, 7800x3d, nvidea 4090, 32gb of ram. I dont know in the future, depens what the prices will be. But I hope this system will go at least 4/5 more years

I have had a million PCs but my current one is a 5800X3D, 32GB of RAM, and a 3080 12GB.
I mainly play strategy games on it these days and they all run fine so I have no real compulsion to upgrade especially with all the silliness. I was thinking of getting a 5080 but I am not spending $1400+ on a 2nd rate (by definition) GPU. I was also looking forward to the Super but that doesn't appear to be happening.

before all that i had a lower end PC I was really happy with. but r7 265 just died one day randomly. its memory modules are cooked.
i just wait for ddr6 at this point. i'm skipping am5 and ddr5 altogether. and hopefully not a VRAM limited 70 tier GPU

I also upgraded the power supply to a Corsair 1200 watt thinking I would simply get a RTX 5090 someday (Nope).
The Lenovo case is small and fits perfectly in one of the cubbies under my living room TV. But the case and cooling situation was not going to handle much more than the RTX 4070.

Ryzen 9 9700X (I'm not so sure about this CPU, It works with the games but runs much hotter than the Intel I had previous)
It's cooled by an AIO it stays quiet during gameplay but will get super loud during shader compilations. (I set the fan curve to ramp up when it gets hot)

I like that the GPU sits upright using a riser card (I think it's a PCIe4 riser with a PCIe5 RTX 5080)

I don't see myself getting anything new for a while. All I use this thing for is the occasional lite indie or Fallout 3/NV replays. 99% of my gaming is done on my Pro at this point. I have contemplated getting a Mac Mini though just to get off windows for day to day use.

I don't see myself getting anything new for a while. All I use this thing for is the occasional lite indie or Fallout 3/NV replays. 99% of my gaming is done on my Pro at this point. I have contemplated getting a Mac Mini though just to get off windows for day to day use.

I tend to upgrade individual components as necessary rather than everything at once.
Currently running a 7800X3D and 5090 in a build that started late 2018.
Started with a 9900K and 2080 Ti. The GPU was then replaced with a 3080, 3080 Ti and 4090.
A couple of years ago, the 9900K was starting to show its age, so I replaced it with a 7800X3D which also involved a new motherboard, memory and AIO. A major reason I went with this chipset over Intel was so that I wouldn't have to replace everything for the next CPU upgrade.
I'm still using the case (Phanteks Evolv X), PSU (EVGA 1200w P2) and fans (Corsair LL) from the 2018 build. Still love the case and not cheaping out on a PSU definitely paid off. Fans do the job but I could definitely do better these days.
CPU will be the next internal component that's replaced, and I'd probably get new case fans at the same time.
I'd actually really like to convert this to a Small Form Factor build but I haven't done any research on that yet, and it's also nice not having to worry about physical space with each GPU upgrade.

- I'd like to look at how I could move to 48GB next time instead of 64GB. It bugs me having a bunch of wasted RAM in my machine that I never use.
- Open minded on the GPU. If AMD can deliver a meaningful jump over the 9070 XT with at least 24GB of VRAM, then I'll probably do that and pass my current card down to my son. If not, I'll see what the RTX 6080 is like.

I flip flopped between consoles and PC over my gaming lifetime, but starting with this gen I think I'll go comfortably stay PC only, or atleast use it mainly. It's been too long since my previous PC so I genuinely can't remember, but my current PC looks like this:

I built it like 2 years ago. I've been very happy with it, I play on 1440p on high settings on my OLED and it's been a dream. I'm generally an easy to please person, so I'm also happy with using FSR and whatnot to boost FPS. If need be I can always go lower to mid settings or 1080p. I'm pretty proud of what it can do to be honest.
Future wise...I think I'd need to almost replace my entire PC, and I'm planning to do that in the far future. I can't just upgrade my GPU and let it be, I'd need to upgrade my PSU to accomodate the new card, I'd need to change my CPU to AMD at the very least but that also means changing my motherboard, that's already half the PC parts
However I do have to admit, I'm thinking of doing a mini upgrade before the big one. Even though my 6700 is doing a very good job for my needs, I'm kinda bummed about how AMD seemingly dropped support for it this quick and at the same time I'm starting to wonder if I can play games like Witcher 4 or GTA 6 comfortably on it, especially since I'm missing out on FSR 4/DLSS. I'm not really a "I MUST HAVE RAYTRACING" person, but more and more games will implement that in the future, which will make my sweet 6700 cry. I'm thinking of getting a 9060 XT or better yet a 5060 Ti if I can manage to sell my 6700 XT sometime. The rest is still fine I think. I hope I can continue playing comfortably like this.

That was my Previous Previous. I still have it but it's not been turned on in over 2 years. I bet it still works. It's got a couple of sata SSD's inside the case that could still be used.My previous PC was i7 3770K & GTX1080

Rumors are that the RTX60xx could be coming late this year/early next year. If a 6080 isn't much more than a 5080, why not shoot for that instead? I'd hold on until they are announced to see what the price is--you may even get lucky with an RTX5080 price drop (lol).
