What were the improvements of GTA to XBox?

Anyone play both versions? GTA is like my favorite series, I'm wonder how they will improve GTA: SA on XBox when it comes out in a few months. What did they add or improve on to GTA 3 and Vice City?

Honestly I wish they would just port it to XBox 2 since its coming out soon anyway ... more power, they could add all kinds of stuff. Not saying build the game from scratch but a port with a lot of great added touches (60 fps, no popup, more items on screen, cleaner graphics) would be cool. Maybe they can do some of that on XBox anyway.

Little cleaner, more stable 30fps. That`s basically it.

And MUCH more detailed car models (There's actually engines in the Xbox cars), better character models (FINGERS), MUCH less loading (going between Islands in Vice City = 2-3 seconds), farther draw in distance, support for custom soundtracks, and I'm probably missing other improvements as well.

Except for the few seconds of loading between islands, and the small start up load time (nowhere NEAR as long as the PS2 version) basically non-existant.

Ah that's really good then. I thought I read something about the menu's or interface being different too. I think it was the pause menu maybe??

Yeah, I think the pause menus are different, but I can't really remember for sure. You also get Dolby 5.1 on the Xbox version vs a pretty weak DTS implementation for the Ps2 versions. (Not sure if PS2 GTA3 had it or not, didn't have that one)

lots of little improvements that while not big on their own, all of them considered, it's a really nice upgrade.

p.s. don't forget 480p and dolby digital 5.1 and custom soundtracks

Dolby Digital is a down grade from DTS.

:lol

Right.

Anyway, there were lots of reflections and colored lighting added as well. Better particle effects, such as the rain and fog. Way more stable frame rate, better draw distance, way better models...

Is there a date yet for San Andreas Xbox? Or still "June 05".

I am selling my PS2 version right away! SUPERIORITY FOR DEMI

The only thing bad I noticed on Xbox GTADP was when driving on the beach in VC... the framerate would dip for some reason when I was doing ambulance missions, and the sand didn't look like sand, but tiles that just randomly popped up.

Aside from that though, good stuff. Played both games to 100% and had a blast.

But weren't there a lot of crashing/glitching problems with the Xbox versions, or was that just in the initial run and smoothed out?

And since the Xbox release was only available as the Double Pack (correct?), didn't they change the gun names to generics as well, to cut down on licensing fees? Not a big deal, but that can agitate some people.

I always had that weird slowdown near water..

I beat both games in the double pack and I don't recall any problems.

There *was* the pedestrian glitch in VC where pedestrians didn't talk after the first 15 minutes of playtime or so, unless you attacked them or police were coming (so panic situations had background dialogue, but the other stuff was gone).

But then, I played PS2 VC to 98%, then played XB VC to 100%, and I never really noticed if the peds didn't talk...

Don't forget the realtime reflections! They looked quite sexy! Plus, it had a really solid look to it. Better draw distance from what I remember too.

I passed the PS2 versions of both games, but not the Xbox versions...so I really don't know if there were any differences in gameplay, story, or any extra missions.

Umm, what? The guns didnt have real names in the PS2 or XBox version in the first place.

Dunno where your getting that from.
