Well I dunno, but to me what's left for the GCN is at least more interesting than what's left for the Xbox:
- Baten Kaitos II (liked the first one very much and the second one looks promising)
- Chibi Robo (hope it gets a EU release, concept sounds fun and innovative)
- Donkey Konga 3 (nice for the fans, or if you still want to try it out once)
- Giftpia (they should release it outside JPN, even though it'll probably become a nich title)
- Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (well yeah, nice for the peeps who like it)
- Homeland (same story as with Giftpia, though I doubt this one very much since hardly anyone has ever bought a broadband adapter afaik)
- Kirby Adventure (really hard to judge this one since we only got screens up 'till now, could've become a Rev launchgame)
- Mario Party 7 (still a nice game to pick up for a budget price, very useful to play with "non-gamers")
- Naruto: Clash of Ninja (seems it's actually gonna be released outside JPN, not very interested in it myself)
- Nintendo Puzzle Collection (just release it outside of JPN, some people might like it)
- Odama (another really innovative game that sounds fun)
- Pennant Chase Baseball (why hasn't this game been released yet? did they move it to Rev as a launchtitle?)
- Zelda: Twilight Princess (if the game will be as stellar as many expect it to be, this will make more than up for the drought)
- Mega Man X Collection (very nice indeed, don't know if I'll pick it up though)
- Sonic Riders (yeah well, even though the previous 3D Sonic games weren't anything to speak of, this might turn out good)
- Splinter Cell: Double Agent (X360 version is most likely for me, still nice it's coming to GCN)
Well, that's about it. All in all, I thought the GCN had a fairly decent life. The support it received both 1st and 3rd party was a bit supbar and EAD definatly underperformed on the most part, but it did have some gems and purely focussing on exclusives, I liked it more than the Xbox. I personally thought that Smash Bros., Pikmin 2, Paper Mario: TTD, Resident Evil 4, Fire Emblem and Metroid Prime were absolutely fantastic games and of the level we'd expect from a Nintendo machine (even though they're not all from Nintendo). Other really good and fun games were Mario Power Tennis, Battalion Wars, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Eternal Darkness (yes, I liked it despite it's problems), Baten Kaitos, WarioWare, Donkey Konga 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 2, Zelda:FSA, Soul Calibur II (sadly the only really good fighter for the system), Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil (Zero to a lesser extend), Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Final Fantasy:CC (should be rather fun in multiplayer), MGS:TTS, Pikmin, Mario Golf and also the likes of Zelda: TWW, Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart: DD (even though they all underperformed compared to their predecessors). Luckily it also received some nice 3rd party titles like the Splinter Cell and PoP series and BG&E from Ubisoft, the SSX games from EA, Tony Hawk titles from Activision, the first two Burnouts and the last two Timesplitters iterations.
Still, it gets completely obliterated by the PS2. Even if we don't count multiplatform. IMO, the PS2 is simply in a league of it's own this gen. Just taking a look at it's upcoming releases for this year, confirms this for me. Major releases like Rogue Galaxy, Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy XII, Grandia III, Black, MGS3: Subsistence, Tourist Trophy, Ryu Ga Gotoku (hopefully) and Okami, are complemented by other promising and interesting titles like Shadow Hearts 3, FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus, Seiken Densetsu 4 (if it gets a release outside of JPN), Onimusha 4, Ace Combat Zero, Tales of the Abyss (maybe), Phantasy Star Universe, GTA:LCS (heh), Valkyrie Profile: Sylmeria, Marc Ecko's Getting Up, Rise of the Kasai, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, StarCraft: Ghost, Hitman: Blood Money, SEGA Rally 2006, Outrun 2006, Fight Night Round 3, Suikoden V, Tales of Legendia, Bully, Ape Escape 3 and other titles that could turn out good like Wild ARMs 4 & 5 (4 has just been released), Sonic Riders, Commandos: Strike Force, Mega Man X Collection, FlatOut 2, Forbidden Siren 2, Driver Parallel Lines, Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers and Battlestations: Midway will all see the light of day this very year. It's like the PS3 isn't even coming yet. Hell, for Europe this might even turn out to become the single best PS2 year ever (or current-gen year in general), since they'll also still be getting SotC, Psychonauts, We Love Katamari and Dragon Quest VIII (though they wont get Grandia III). That's just insane!
