What's that one thing you like about Neogaf above all else?

A tie between being a great source of game news, a great source of gifs, and a handful of posters I won't name (but don't worry, you are not on that list).

This. The fact that I had to wait so long to get my account approved and so easy I could get banned, it was a rush posting as a junior and is a rush now.

I still like Gamefaqs better.

Gamefaqs is a cesspool and the worst forum I've ever posted on, hands-down.

I like personalities and the mostly civil conversation.

That thread hijacks get stopped in their tracks.

That's one thing I really dislike about Reddit, some guy makes a thread about going to Africa and sharing his experiences and it gets hijacked by people debating the intricacies of the Bahai faith. Fuck that.

Edit: also that there really only 2 catch all sub forums rather than the extreme "specialization" other forums have.

The speed in which it moves. Fast enough that there is always something new to read, but slow enough to where things don't instantly fall off the first couple of pages.

The gifs, the photoshops, the self-referencing jokes, the joke accounts, the meltdowns, the megatons...

I just miss the EPIC NPD threads at the beginning of this generation, which is the reason why I joined GAF. Maybe this generation will be also entertaining, who knows.

I also love the fact that people are willing to use search and duplicate threads are frowned upon. Place I went to previously didn't even have an OT policy so you'd get threads about the same thing popping up all the time. Basically if it wasn't a sticky it wasn't an OT so people constantly made their own unofficial threads until you ended up with 10 Zelda "OT" threads.

Only reason I stayed there was the community section away from the main boards.

probably the gaming community section, especially if you are hardcore into a game, so very easy to find others who feel the same.

How fast you find out what's happening.

Seriously, nothing escapes the all-seeing eye of GAF when it comes to gaming news and a select range of OT topics. One might think that GAF members have newswire editors bribed.

Aside from the fact that it kind of.....no, it literally feels like my 'home' on the internet (I've been here since 1999), I like that there aren't constantly new members. It's so tightly controlled....you don't have to worry about the community changing so much, and trolls/shitty posters are easily disposed of. It's a very well run forum.

I like that you can have a debate with someone over almost any subject.

"I love pasta!"
"Fuck pasta, it's garbage."

Never change <3

The Photoshop threads. If there's one thing I love about the members here, it's their ability to make me laugh. Playstation Meeting thread (now archived), "How to tell a facebook person" thread, etc. are pure gold.

I like how it is usually a day or two ahead of news stories. And with so many people all over the world, you can often hear first hand accounts of what's going on. Adds to the sense of a great community/family.

And there is a group of people for just about any interest, the threads are easy to follow and the nonsense is kept to a minimum.

Not to mention the occasional Photoshop thread that leaves me in tears.

This place is great and it has everything I could want with the exception of porn.

Pretty much this.

Plus, I find the average IQ on this forum to be relatively high as well.

The only reason I left IGN and came to GAF is because only one thread is allowed per game. I got tired of having the front page of IGN filled up with 20 threads about the same game every time a decent game came out. One thread per game makes it much easier to have conversations and get information.

I mostly lurk on gaf because it is insanely active at all times, the interface is clean w/o the trashy avatar gifs and obscenely large signatures, and people from the actual gaming industry post here once in a while.
