What's the worst looking console game this generation?

of all the games I have owned at one point or another...I would say Stretch Panic or RC Pro Revenge

no screenshots with me, but Animal Crossing would be the worst graphics of this generation...but the huge amounts of gameplay makes up for that...the game is truly genuine :)

Animal Crossing has simple graphics, but they look and hold up better than lets say..Max Payne games on the ps2..yuck

Agreed, and Cubivore is a fun game about evolution...EVOLUTION!...so F U.

In regards to stretch panic, I'm only talking about games I own or owned previously. The game isn't ugly IMO but it's not a game I feels stands up to the others that I own :)

I think Animal Crossing looks great, though

at any rate, I forgot that I ever bought Culdecept (sp?) so I would definately put that game in Stretch Panic's place

Simpily put DOA.

While its true that the visuals for the game look good, the characters models look like garbage. I've always acknowledge the fact that Japanese developers design some of the best looking characters in a game, but Team Ninja went in the opposite direction. I mean, the characers in a lesser inferior game like Resident Evil 4 look much better than those of DOA. In the end,I would say Capcom's artist own Team Ninja's in every considerable way.

Culdcept?!? It's a board game! A game that features hundreds of cards featuring (albeit sometimes mundane) original art! I mean...if ever a card/board game was well represented on consoles. Yea, the idea, the implementation is by necessity archaic, but I fail to see what qualifies it as "worst looking".

GAH I hate this thread. I came in here for some funny Morrowind screenshots and a few chuckles. You people make baby jesus cry.

DOA?

:lol

I'm going to guess that Doom 3 will be mentioned in this thread as well :D

Edit: Musashi, I dunno...nice looking cards surrounded by otherwise mediocre visuals keep the game from being safe from my ... opinion?

I still can't believe someone mentioned Animal Crossing. I agree that Cubivore is ugly. Both games took a minimalistic approach, since they were N64 games, but Animal Crossing will forever look good. I don't consider a lack of polygons to always equate to "worst looking game". If it's ugly games you want, it's usually the first gen ones that sacrifice stuff like draw distance, textures, etc for POLYGON POWAR to strut off the millions they're given. For example:

Dynasty Warriors 2

And of course who can ever forget...

NFL Gameday 2001

Sure, it might have been impressive when it first came out, but now? Ugh. But the PS2's fucking lucky when it came to first gen shit in comparison to the all mighty XBox. You'd think a later release date plus more power would equal BETTER looking first gen games, right? Perhaps they had more polygons, maybe better textures, or extra effects compared to the PS2 stuff, but good God...

But the winner of the Mike Works Award for Fuck You're Ugly goes to a game created for that little purple console that couldn't:

Smashing Drive

I would like to apologize for making the ugliest post ever seen on these boards.

Forgive the split hairs, but that's originally an arcade game using Power VR tech, if I'm not mistaken. If doesn't really change anything, but it wasn't created for the Cube and it's original tech nearly forfeits it being in this generation.[/dark10x]

It was also released on the Xbox, I think.. right?

Worst looking game though.. hmm.. that is tough. Roadkill is pretty ugly, but probably not the "worst". Worst technically of course is Animal Crossing, but not overall. It's not harsh and hard to look at. I don't think anything in this generation can compare to the quite complete ugliness that is most Saturn and PSOne games.. :)

Being the forum's self proclaimed certified Graphics Whore (TM), I'd have to agree with this one.

Perhaps the game isn't that jaggy (as in low screen res), and perhaps the game is SUPPOSED to look "simple", but why the NASTY textures? Why not do with with full screen AA? Why not throw in lots of great lighting, or shadow effects?

Nothing else compares...this is by far the worst looking game of this generation!

How can you hate on a screenshot that says CURTSY RAGE at the top? I'm gonna make an all female punk band and name them that.

I read that as "CRUSTY RAGE" and burst out laughing. It seemed a lot less funny once I realized what it actually looks like. Also, NFL Gameday 2001 blows. Terrible graphics to match the terrible gameplay.

Galleon's are pretty bad but it's gotta be Charlie's Angels just due to how dreadful it looks compared to its release date.

What's so bad about Deadly Strike? It's not good looking by any means (hell, it's not really good looking at all), but it looks much better than most of the games in this thread...

Those are just really bad captures.

Also, many of those screens suggest that the game runs at 60 fps (field rendered)...which is also much smoother than almost every game in this thread.

Is he attempting to shoot a fireball out of his mouth? Offering to suck the referee's dick? I JUST DON'T KNOW!

Also, that audience texture is just awesome - you can see guys with the same exact same shirt in like a diagonal four row.

Meh. I'm boycotting them until they ship it with a fun game about INTELLIGENT DESIGN.

Hey don't hate :P I played more of that demo then most other GT games combined

Really? Where did you get ahold of that demo? I never knew it had a public release...

What the hell? You seriously think that this (despite the poor character art)...

Been awhile ago, so I'm not sure. If I remember right, I got mine at TGS99... or it might have been the Playstation event just before the Japanese launch...

How much content was in the GT2k demo anyways? Does it work on regular PS2s (since it is a pre-launch disc)?

The funny thing is that if half these games came out on PSP or DS, people would be jizzing over how wonderful they looked. :lol

gattsu: Culdcept is one of the best fucking games ever. It could have little dots and they could suffer from the worst flicker ever, and it would STILL be the shiznite!

Cubivore is awesome, fuck the graphic whores! Gameplay trumps graphics any day. And finally, ANIMAL CROSSING? Don't make your hatred of all things Nintendo TOO apparent, ladies.

...only as a result of Mike Works post. Those games are far from good looking, but they are nowhere near the very bottom.

Most of the other pics would be considered crap on the PSP, though. Look at the pics I posted above. NOBODY would claim that those look good for PSP...

I mean, this...

ecw_screen001.jpg

...would not be acceptable by any means. That looks like complete trash...

Now, DS is a different situation. The technology is older and expectations aren't as high. However, good art design can seriously overcome technical limitations...
