this is what you're left with that's any decent. How many driving one?!?!!?!?!?

CC FFVII is a BIG UNKNOWN. And the rest (with the exception of the newness of Daxter, are rehashes).

I think that's the biggest problem.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII 05/16/05

um what kind of releasedates are this? I mean 16th may has already been. Is that the date they added the game in the database or something?

anyone have a list with real US releaedates? I would be interested.

Not one of those bolded games makes me want to drop $250 on a PSP.

I can name about 10 more that are already out. So far, my favs:

Hot Shots Golf
WipEout Pure
Lumines
Twisted Metal
Metal Gear Ac!d
THUG 2

The problem with the PSP's upcoming library is that while there's a lot of stuff that should be pretty good, there's not a lot that's very interesting.

CC:FFVII and Ys VI are honestly the only thing I see of genuine interest. The PSP is turning into a racing game whore, which is generaly my least favorite genre. Daxter should be okay I guess.

Of all those, the only two games that interest me (or a lot of others) are GTA: Liberty City and FFVII:CC.

There's just not a lot of really interesting software--even down the pipe.

But there is on DS. Hence, the disappointment.

daxter was incredible, and virtua tennis rocked. thats all i care about :)

lol. that date's flawed and you should have posted it without - everyone's saying that PSP will be lack lustre this year.

One reason why I singled out CC:FFVII.. I mean E3 just went by and we've not seen any media - not even 1 screen. How can it be a bolded title? Considering how long FFXII has taken to be produced, I won't place it on any immediate PSP lists.

What's on the DS?

Burnout will make the PSP worth it.

Besides, all the naysayers will be the first ones in line plunking the money down once the emulators start coming. That is what will make the system flat out awesome. DS will die in the eyes of hardcore gamers the minute FF6 comes to PSP.

I will gladly buy Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, but I don't see it as a 2005 title. No chance since it wasn't even at E3.

Dunno about that, the DS will probably be able to emulate snes games also because there are already working snes emulators for GBA.

The "dissapointment" is probably from a rediculous price for a handheld $250, high price of games and the new consoles coming. Lets face facts... a $400 investment (PSP + 3-4 games) for portable gaming is pretty undesirable to most

not enough original games.

On the DS sure there's stuff like Viewtiful Joe but they totally changed the rules of the game. Which makes me want to try it.

The problem i have with this list, is there's a good wealth of 1st party software that will look alright, but the multiplatform stuff will look much much better on psp

I was expecting a lot more titles to be reveiled.
Also the lineup is really weak as far as JGDR and adventure games are concerned.
Anyway I'm confident that PSP will really pick up this fall.

Yeah but my 512 mb flash cart (51 megs about) for GBA cost me $170. 1 gig memory stick = $100. Carts are just to expensive. I could put the entire USA collections of NES and SNES on one mem card. Now that is awesome :D

you're using pirated shit to justify the console? Oh well, I guess you might as well as say,

buy XBOX.. cause you can pirate games + emulation
buy PS2.. cause you can pirate games
buy flashkart because you can emulate on DS/GBA

this argument is asshat.

Don't get me wrong. do whatever you please but for a real consumer, DS sits better this year

Trace Memory, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Lost in Blue, and Nanostray would deserve highlights as well I would think.

Regardless, I think the difference right now between the PSP and DS upcoming libraries is the fact that there are several games I know I will purchase as opposed to the one or two PSP games.

I feel exactly the opposite. The PSP is teeming with quality games, while the DS only has a scant handful of games that interest me.

Namco Museum Battle Collection
Viewtiful Joe: VFX Battle
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim
Guilty Gear Judgment
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Street Fighter Alpha
Virtua Tennis World Tour

Yikes. That's about it for me. That two of those are comps is even more disappointing. There are too many ports, licenses, generic driving games, and just awful crap titles (50 Cent, Bloodrayne, the Con) in that list.

It just didn't compare to the DS for me.

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga 2
Advance Wars DS
Phoenix Wright
Trauma Center
Nintendogs (yes, I said it)
Viewtiful Joe
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Meteos
Kirby CC
Trace Memory
Lost in Blue
Electroplankton

as opposed to your deep insight posts. ;P sparing over. Its cool.

I'm personally disappointed by the PSP games @ e3. too many driving/ports and not enough oomph and type of games I want to own/play. Its okay on a console.. but how many handheld racers can one own? I already own WO and RR and I'm sick of them already. BOL might be my last for a while

No disappointment here at all. I love my PSP. I've tried multiple times in the past to get into handheld gaming (GB Pocket, GB Color, imported Jap GBA, GBA:SP) and could never really get as into it as I was with my home consoles at the time (NES, Genesis, PS1, PS2). I've had a PS2 since launch (now two, with one modded with HDLoader and a PStwo) and nothing could really pull me away. I got the SP after I had a PS2 and it never really did it for me. PSP does. It's the same quality of games that I have at home, now in my hand. Complimented with the screen, which I still marvel at how fucking fantastic it is and great output to my studio headphones and it's like my home gaming set-up in my hand.

I started with Wipeout at launch and nothing else becuase I didn't pay it off ahead like I planned and was strapped for cash. I played the shit out of it for weeks but got bored. I then got Hot Shots last week and then Metal Gear Acid on friday and they are both fantastic, and both seem to have many weeks of gameplay at the pace I am moving. I have never played a card-battle style game before and gave up on Final Fantasy: Tactics after a couple hours (after everyone on gaming boards say its god's gift), but I could see myself playing through MGA many times. I still have alot to learn about how it works, but the whole system seems very deep. I just finished mission 2 and am already really interested in how thie storyline develops.

I also got a chance to play a friend's copy of Lumines for about an hour and could see lots of depth and challenge there. I think I'll pick that up next.

Granted, opinions are like assholes, but people who say there's nothing creative or interesting on the PSP aren't giving it a chance. Hell, nothing but GT4 and GTA really interested me pre-launch and I knew those were a long way off. I planned to have it, keep it, play it an hour or two a week (like I did with past handhelds), but not really do anything with it.

e: this turned out alot longer than I thought. I won't contest the arguement that the E3 PSP showing was a little disappointing, though I got my official confirmation on the GTA title I was waiting for. So that was cool.

I guess you must mean for this E3, right?
Generally speaking, there's a lot of new or new-for-the-US franchises on GBA...

hmm... the fact that GBA was all 2d (and that's not something you get often on consoles) made it sort of okay. This is compared to PSP where the games currently are on-to-go versions of console titles. I mean, do I buy Burnout Revenge or Legends? Same case with VJ VFX battle... GC or PSP... if I get it for PSP, I EXPECT single UMD sharing (which is rare in PSP games)

Fire Emblem?
Advance Wars?

Sure they aren't new to the Japanese, but they are new to us English people.
