What's wrong with your PC?

Get loud beeps now and then, can't remember what it's called but it pisses me off and I probably should back up all my stuff. My hard drive makes a ticking sound.

everytime i turn my pc on, i hear a fan turn on then die down in ~3 sec and then the fan turns back on, motherboard beeps and then it boots up

sometimes i get the video error beep at the start (1 long 2 short) and it wont POST; hit the reset and it will boot fine. occasionally i have to flash the BIOS because it somehow gets corrupted

if i leave it on, it will eventually have these pink artifacts randomly scattered on the screen and my system locks up

Computer completely shutting down without warning (looks like something that happens when overheating, but temps aren't that high) when playing Eve Online and once in CoD:WaW, though hasn't done anything during Crysis:Warhead, WoW, L4D, Sins of a Solar Empire.

My computer won't boot when my terabyte MyBook is plugged in. I have to keep it off until windows loads then it works fine.

1. I can not put Vista64 to sleep, the VGA driver will crash upon awaking. (I'm sure this is ATI driver related tho)
2. Vista64 will not boot with dual Radeon 3750's installed. (error: no boot device found)

however I don't care to have both installed anymore, since I've switched to playing games on my 360 full time.

1. My computer takes +5 minutes to boot due to POST test failures.

It claims exactly 1024bytes of ram is missing from my 2gB's worth of ram. I have never had any issues whatsoever in games that would point to the RAM being broken either.

2. The GPU won't magically evolve into a better model as it gains experience.

Oh shit my PC is on fire?!

What do I do!?

My actual PC stopped reading both my USB ports and my keyboard/mouse ports early last year. It was about 5 years old, and even with the addition of more ram and keeping the number of programs to a minimum, it was getting more and more sluggish until it finally stopped recognizing my mouse & keyboard (both USB powered). I tried with a regular keyboard and rollerball mouse, but those too weren't recognized.

Since then, I've just been using my 12" G4 Powerbook at home. I've been thinking of getting either a netbook for my PC needs or just waiting for a Mac Mini refresh so that I can connect it to my HDTV and use my extra mouse & keyboard. I've also thought about getting another prebuilt PC from Dell (don't need to build a computer as I don't really have the time do so).

I should probably try to salvage my hard drive (there were files that I never got to back up to my external before the PC went to crap).

When I have a USB headset plugged in and I switch to ASIO drivers to run fruity loops, once in a while my screen scrambles and i have to hard reboot.

Other than the random noises I hear (like heart beats), nothing... I do wish WMP would minimize to the toolbar like it used to before I reinstalled Windows...

Ah shit.

Edit: Its an 8800 GTS or something, and it has a giant fan and takes up like two slots, one for cooling. Seems like a card thats prone to over heating.

Its not very frequent though, luckily.
What i want to know is that....how is it that you have a 8800GTS or something and you cant really say for sure what it is? I can see if it was some cheap ass crap stuck in there like most rebuilts but usually people that buy a 8800GTS know that they have one in their pc?..lol

This laptop is running slow, so I might just reboot from when I first bought it. I actually wouldn't mind doing it. i got too many programs/games that I don't use. Eh. lol.

The desktop I built refuses to boot any OS, or even boot from the disk. I have no clue what the hell is wrong.
It gets to the bar moving and the "Copyright Microsoft Corporation" and after that, it goes black. Did the same to Windows XP. I have no clue what the hell is wrong. It just stays black. It boots fine but up till where it shows the Microsoft bar screen, it stays black. It even sometimes doesn't boot from the DVD when i try to reformat as well.
Any help from the above would be greatly appreciated since the pc i built is a gift for my brother. =(

1. One of my USB ports simply does not function

2. I cannot boot from my SATA drive

3. It must have a PS2 keyboard connected during boot or it will not read the USB keyboard and fail the boot with a 'keyboard not present' error.

I've had this computer for 5 years. It runs Vista but not as well as I'd like.

I'm always on NewEgg dreaming of what kind of computer I'd build if I had $5k of disposable income on hand

Two main things...

Two of my ram slots are faulty. So I'm running 4GBs of ram @400mhz in single channel mode. :/

I'm not sure what exactly causes it, but my computer randomly locks up. reducing the memory voltage has made this a vary rare occurrence, but it's still f'en annoying when it happens. It's not heat related... CPU is at 30c most of the time and my GPU never goes above 60c.

I have a pretty new Dell laptop with Vista and 2gigs of RAM and the stupid thing won't play the AVCHD files from my new camcorder. I knew that I would need double the cores and RAM to edit, but I didn't think I'd have a problem playing.

Also, not sure if it's my computer or router, but I have to restart the router at least once a night. My laptop stays connected to the router (and according to the router it's connected to the internet), but the internet hangs until I bounce the router.

I think I can help with this! Are you using an LCD as a monitor? Try hooking up to an old CRT and see if you get further. I had a problem like that when my LCD was set to a high resolution, but the initial install didn't have the drivers set up to support said high resolution. Your computer isn't going black...it's still giving you an install screen, it might just be your monitor going black.

Power supply is dying or can't handle the GPU.

This. 8800 GTS require a bit of power. And not just wattage. +12v rail needs certain amount of amperage to the video card otherwise really odd things can happen. It is worth looking into.

I sometimes get weird slowdown in music or sounds in general when doing something "stressful" like loading a page etc.

This started to happen when I got my new sound card, a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E card. Seemed to reduce the amount of slowdowns when I turned my audio acceleration (or whatever it is) to basic.

Anyone ever had anything like this happen?

My laptop is only 6 months old so it's still in great shape. Spec-wise it's not amazing so it has a hiccup here and there when doing a lot. The 80Gb harddrive is getting too small for all my media though.

My Desktop Q6600/8800GTS machine is doing just great as I reinstalled windows not too long ago. I haven't touched it in long time though.

My 2 1/2 year old laptop....

- Is getting old (spec-wise).
- Clips broke off, doesn't snap close (no big deal though)
- DVD drive crapped out the other day.

Bought a new battery for it recently though... now holds a charge for like 3 1/2 hours. yay.

Eh its cool just wanted to vent.

And strangely enough, this fucking gmail problem is more annoying than an HDD or GFX card dieing and possibly exploding.

My priorities are all wrong.
I was just being a dick :lol
The text looked like a shape of a penis even.

Hope you got a good lead so far.

1) Internet Explore randomly crashes when running flash
2) Firefox likes to lose my cookies and settings
3) My keyboard's wireless range seem to be under a foot so i literally have the dongle right next to it which defeats the purpose.
4) Two front usb 2.0s don't work but the one front usb 1.1 works yukk

Did not work.

=(

A. Loud Fan
B. Mediocre CPU (P4 HT @ 3.2)
C. Not enough RAM but I can't put over 2GB (which I have it at)
D. Sluggish and I want it to die ...

That sucks. I can't remember if I did anything else. Maybe hook whatever monitor you have up to a working computer and set it's resolution to the lowest setting, and then without turning it off switch the cable to the computer you are trying to get working?

Do you have a graphics card AND integrated graphics? Try doing everything with the on-board one and wait to install the card after you get the OS running.

I have a virus on my PC that causes the following issues:

- Can't use any browser other than Firefox (some kind of networking issues)

- There are penis enlargement ads on every page I visit, regardless of the page's target audience. For example:
nei97o.jpg

- Firefox will randomly freeze my entire OS, forcing me to do a hard reboot.

But other than those small setbacks, my PC is fucking beast. :D

That's not your computer, that's just the internet.

Mine was literally booted up the first time this morning. i7 Vista-64 system. Something will go wrong, but for a while the HDD AND the DVD drive were not registering in the BIOS

-Side of case opened up with a small house fan blowing into the case, or else it shuts off.

i was doing this for about a year until i bought a netbook a month ago. so annoying.

my power supply is fucked. it keeps randomly resetting or turning off. when it turns off I have to remove the cord from the actual power supply unit, wait until the mobo light turns off, then plug it in again. Someties it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it last for 6 hours, sometimes it lasts for 5 minutes.

I need to get a new one asap.

how many video cards to you have installed? Because I have your same problem when I have 2 installed.
I only have one video card.

What exactly should I do? Take out my video card and hook up my monitor to the on board?

IE is odd. I never use it to browse the internet but it seems to interfere with Firefox. Basically I'll randomly lose internet access because the proxy settings have been changed from no proxy to a manual config; once I change it back to no proxy everything works fine. Also clicking on google results might lead me to an entirely different page

BUT none of this happens when I change IE's internet settings so that it doesn't connect to the internet. At that point Firefox works fine. I know it's a spyware problem and I constantly scan it, but like I said the problem only occurs when IE can access the internet.

And also I can't go to tnaflix.com (porn site, nsfw) without getting pop ups and spyware problems (similar to the ones IE causes). So I just go to different sites, but I miss tnaflix :(

Get AVG free. I installed it and haven't looked back, it's great.

I like playing games with good graphics, but I don't have the patience to nerd out on that stuff. I just bought something cheap and with 8800 in the name.

Upon starting Windows XP, my computer immediately boots to a blue screen with a readout of "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". I tried running the Recovery Console so that I could have chkdisk fix the issue, but for some godforsaken reason, the hard drives won't detect because there aren't any drivers for SATA connected drives!

So -- now I have to go to my friends house with some floppy disks, and somehow locate the drivers just so I can run chkdisk.

This is retarded!
