What's wrong with your PC?

For those of you who have older desktops that make a funny (grinding) noise for a while, then blue screen or crash, crack open those cases and dust with canned air.
If your video cards have fans on them, pull them out, clean the dust out of the fans and heat sinks. I use a cotton swab soaked with alcohol, but I am sure there are better solutions.
Grinding sounds are usually failing or failed fans, and they should be replaced. Check them by having the case open and turning on the power. All fans should spin. If one doesn't, replace it.

My computer crashes/BSOD while in sleep state. WinDBG reveals:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver is causing an inconsistent power state.

Probably something to do with my Realtek drivers. Well, just now I found out where to find said drivers, so I'll see if it works.

Is it one of those HP laptops, if so LOL.

Nah, it's an ASUS. I thought the only way to turn off the wireless was with the function keys, but apparently the master switch on the side is the real culprit. When I found it I felt like a complete idiot trying to do all these advanced things when all I needed to do was flip a simple switch.

Got a laptop last year WITH A BLU RAY DRIVE.

Then I realized I don't use the fucking thing anyways in the house, and I don't watch blu-rays outside. FML.

Sometimes when I try to shut it down, Windows shuts down, screens goes black etc as usual, but in the end the PC is still turned on and you can hear the fans turning. Stupid thing.

1.) My power supply has been making a high pitched noise for a couple of years.
2.) The power supply has broken two video cards. I can use my computer for reading mails and surfing the internet, but if I try to run a game or even a youtube video, my PC crashes.

i got a nasty virus of some sort, first one in like 7 years. first i couldnt play music anymore, Winamp just crashed when i tried to play any song. then both Firefox and Chrome stopped working, cant connect to any site even though torrents are still working. PC crashes when trying to run some registry check program, also crashes when trying to run a spyware check... lol. im so fucked. (typing from my ps3 now)

i think it's about time i get a new computer anyway. fuck that old junk that cant even run HL2 properly.

I would run malware bytes, AVG or Avast!, then CCleaner.

Internet is too slow yet faster internet is overpriced.

I'd take faster upload, but only occasionally need it when I'm uploading pics to say FB or a video to the youtubes. My standard comcast speed is fine as the only time I really use the full on speed is downloading games from steam. Still a steady 1.5 down is fine with me.

My problem was my wireless range blew on my old router. I replaced that shit for the holidays though, and now I get full range through out my place. Plus I got uncheap and went dual band so my laptop and shit can run off of N and my desktops are wired. Then with both my phone and when people come over with their smartphones we can run on the other band 3g style.

Overkill for normal use? Yes since I'd only really be using when transferring files between comps anyways, but I said fuck it and went for it anyways. :P

Gonna buy this PSU here:

http://www.jr.com/cooler-master/pe/CM_RS500PCARA3U/#productTabStoreStock

Once again, this PSU is going into a computer with the following stuff in it:

- MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard
- Athlon X2 4200+ CPU
- ATi Radeon HD4850 512 MB video card
- 2GB RAM
- 500GB SATA HDD
- 2x PATA/IDE DVD burners
- various add-ons (USB port card, wireless adapter card, internal card reader, case light, case fans)

I'm thinking this should be enough, considering no overclocking is going on. What say you, old PC-GAF?
