I've always loved Rikimaru from Tenchu.

Coming from a guy with an Iron Fist avatar no less -_-
Why are Ninjas often colored blue? Is that historically accurate?

This guy had to be influenced by Jin'e in Rurouni Kenshin. Or the other way around.
In traditional art, blue (and sometimes purple) is a color used to draw black things that need a splash of color, or can't be just dark tints. It's used a lot to tint and highlight black clothing and hair. This is especially helpful in mediums where the amount of colors you can use is few, like in original print comics and in NES games, or if you're inking an illustration and only have a few color choices.
Traditionally, ninja were not showmen or warriors, and did not wear dark colors which would stand out in an otherwise-light clad crowd. Their stealth often came from blending in plain sight, similar to the concept of a plainclothes cop, from which vantage point assassinations and other stealth missions could be accomplished.
The reason we think of ninja as black-wearing folk is due to Japanese theater, in which actors wearing all black are treated as if they were invisible. The black-wearing actors most of the time were stage hands, moving props or lifting up "flying" characters, but every once in a while one of them would turn out to be a ninja and "break character", assassinating one of the other characters or similar.

(kick his ass, sebas!), Shadow Gear + Dragon Tooth was my shit. Felt good to have it upgraded to max before Twinkling was buyable.
Didn't you used to rep FF5 to the max on 1up?
Reading over the thread makes me realize how much I like every single one of these and it's really hard to pick.
But I am also surprised that no one has mentioned the original Shinobi, Joe Musashi.
He can blow himself up and come right back to life and has been doing it before FF ninjas self destructed. That's gotta count for something.
Hotsuma, of course.

Must have been a different Seabass.
But hold on a minute...Dragon Tooth + Shadow Set?! You've got to immerse yourself! I have a sweet build with Shadow Set + Iaito + Longbow + Poison Throwing Darts. Add a Ring of Fog in there and ooh boy, that's a fun RP build.
Hotsuma, of course.
