What's your least favorite art in any game?

Mine would have to be the overall concept behind Super Mario Sunshine.

Oh boy, you did not just diss YOSHITAKA AMANO! Seriously though, he's an amazing artist.

Anyway, I really REALLY hate the Kirby art. God, it makes me want to punch people in the nuts.

Also, I like Mario Sunshine so God-damned much :(

Yeah I wouldn't be going around dissing Amano, use those guns in your avatar for something more useful :D

As for myself, I semi-hated the art concept that GTA had developed into. Now I've come to like it a bit. I hate Halo's artwork simply because it reeks of Hollywood action blockbuster posters.

Man, I don't wanna be like that or anything -- but I have to ask once and for all. What exactly is amazing about Amano's work? The D picture up there has a nice, dark vibe going for it and all, but that Superman looks like nothing but extremely bad fanart. By a 7-year old.

I won't name it as my least favorite, though. Off the top of my head, I think Harmonix have a really vulgar visual style going on. Awful use of colors in everything they do.

OK, there are many low-budget, crappy-looking games...but if I'm to choose a recent game that was made with some ambition and budget... SUDEKI.

It's got a lot to do with the detail and style I think. Some of his bigger drawings are amazing, the deeper you look into it the more hypnotized it can be. I can't really pull out of any of my favourites thus far but I was once a disliker of his artwork if that says anything. Now I hate Tetsuya Nomura's whoring art :lol

Well what makes art "good" is super subjective so I don't want to be too... argumentative... but by a 7-year old? Yeah, maybe if seven year olds made brilliant use of contrast and watercolors and deep, incredible ghastly expressionist tones in their art...

...maybe.

i've only seen the original box-art from far away. oh lord. mega man looks like he was drawn by a damned first grader that hated paper.

for years we've wondered about the Mega Man art. It's time for an answer, dammit! I bet it was the Junior High school son of the Capcom USA CEO or something, and no one had the balls to tell him it sucks

None of the games mentioned in this thread are truly awful. I would say Vivisector: Beast Inside.

...is that the winamp logo?

And man, I've never seen the Mega Man box art so close. It really is bad. Really bad.

KOTOR 1 and 2 character modeling is hideos.... The Jedi shouldn't look like they suffer from Cerebral Palsy!

It hurts so much because I love the games so much...

The art, not the modelling... The art is teh fooking awesome.

Seriously attrocious : Blinx.

Noteworthy : Advent Rising(Good god the art looks like Recycled Crap).

Oh and Halo 2. Halo games offer great gameplay... but they suck in content.

One interesting game that has both great and bad art is The Longest Journey. The GAME portion of it has some truly breathtaking imagery, and the game itself is about the nature of art:

The CUTSCENES, on the otherhand, are terrible. In fact, the design for the protagonist April Ryan seems to CHANGE between the game and the cutscenes. It is quite jarring and somewhat laughable.

For example, here is April in the game:

Here is April in the cutscenes:

The game is still an excellent adventure title with some fantastic puzzles, but this changing artistic quality is certainly a flaw.

Are there any other games with this problem?
