Whats your PSP launch look like for you?

Finally, does anyone have any insight as to US availability for good screen protectors and/or cases? Or should I be ordering a particular item NOW from overseas vendors?

Play-Asia has a pretty good screen protector that's only about $8.50, including shipping. Standard shipping takes sometimes 2 weeks to reach me here in Canada, so you might want to order one in advance.

I also would expect to get an extended warranty...but does EBGames offer them?

Yea, the best one actually. $25 from what I hear. What's good about it is that you can return hardware with it for any reason, including returning it on the last day for a new unit. The Sony warranty is only for standard defects I believe, not breaking your screen :)

Yeah I have a lot of time to do that not to mention convert video. It's a hassle.

Dragging and dropping a couple of Divx into your batch takes less time than writing this sentence. And while you're shooting it over the USB just make yourself a sandwich, or watch porn. Gamers complaining about wasted time should realize that gaming and visiting gaming forums is an equal waste of time. :lol

PSP
Wipeout Pure
Hot Shots Golf or Tiger Woods (got to see reviews)
Ridge Racers

That is the list right now. I'll have to see what happens.

I've heard that some protectors, when removed, leave a sticky residue that is hard to get off. And that air bubbles could develop, trap dust, etc. Anyone have any more info?

PSP

and three games from:

Wipeout Pure
Metal Gear Acid
Ridge Racer
Twisted Metal: HO
Untold Legends.

which three should i get?? I wonder which ones are more graphically impressive.

No system for me. I'll wait for PSP version two. After playing a Japnaese PSP a few times I realized that I just cant play with the PSP analog stick, its terrible.

I've had one for a month, and when I removed it, there was no residue. Then I used a different one, and tried removing, and again no residue. And yeah, you will have some air bubles depending on how dirty your screen is, but they don't really "develop" over time. Even if some dust and air bubbles get trapped under the protector, they're not that visible when using the system, and they don't harm the screen.

PSP Value Pack - $250
Extended Warranty ~ $50
Ridge Racer - $40
Lumines - $40
Metal Gear Ac!d - $40
WipeOut Pure - $40
Ape Escape or Twisted Metal Head On or NFL Street 2 (only if it's $40 and reviews are good)- $40
Screen Protector ~ $10
Total - $510
Tax - 6.5%
Grand Total: $543

I'll hold off on a Memory Stick for now. I'll wait for prices to drop a bit. Yaye portable gaming. Yaye me being a sucker for new consumer electronics.

I just called onsale.com and they said my 1gb memory stick order won't ship until after 3/31 :(

Anyone know other places where it's decently priced and that I can get it before launch?

PSP value pack
Wipeout Pure
Lumines
Ridge Racers

Will wait to hear from gaf on the best memory stick deals, and wait to see the quality of the screen protector.

PSP -250
512 mem stick -50

Untold legends -40
MG Acid -40
Mercury -40
Lumines -40
Ridge Racers -40
NFSU Rivals -50
Twisted Metal -40

Dynasty Warriors -40
Spiderman 2 -40
Tiger Woods -50

Total: $760 (tax) --> $820

I've got a PSP and RR ordered (hoping I'll get one of the first batch, but probably not...)

A little closer to launch I'll add another game or two - MGA, Lumines and the Baldur's-Gate-a-like are probably on the shortlist. A big memory stick should round it out nicely.

At Launch:

Wipeout Pure
Lumines
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade<!!!>
Twisted Metal: Head-On
Mercury

A bit later:

Ridge Racers
Metal Gear AC!D
Need for Speed Rivals

and UK'ers (specifically Londoners) know of any place taking preorders for US PSP software?

DCharlie: you want a place in London, or just somewhere that'll ship there? Because you know I'm going to recommend VG+ if it's the latter. :D

When Sony Australia announce the launch (DS Launches tomorrow you fuckers announce your Launch already !!!!) ill be getting.

1xPSP
1GB Memory Stick (most likely imported from America)
Ridge Racers
989 Basketball Game if it makes it at launch ( & depending on reviews)

"DCharlie: you want a place in London, or just somewhere that'll ship there? Because you know I'm going to recommend VG+ if it's the latter. "

i'll actually be in the UK during the launch but only briefly in London. I'm planning on just picking up a few games. I guess i can try the newish place on Charlotte street (? the place behind where CEX is)... or CEX... umm.... which wasn't too great last time i was there.

Maybe i'll bump into some hot UK GAFers! :)

... alternatively, i might just order from VG+ and get them sent to Tokyo

PSP
Metal Gear Ac!d
Wipeout Pure
Twisted Metal
Ridge Racers

and of course Warranty and whatever accessories

It looks like I'm going to spend all day telling person after person that no, we don't have any PSPs in stock at GameRush. Just like the DS launch.

The initial price really turned me off as I'm not any kind of handheld gamer.....thought this would possibly be my first system. But if I were buying one, the three games I would have to have would be Wipeout, Ridge Racers and Twisted Metal. But, I'll be in the wait and see camp.....unless I play an in-store unit or something and get completely blown away. Otherwise I'd rather save the cash for the next generation of consoles.

Right now, the plan for me is:

PSP Value Pack
Darkstalkers Chronicle
Lumines
Mercury

I'll probably also snag another game or two in the weeks afterward. The most likely candidates here are Twisted Metal: Head-On and Wipeout Pure, though a few others like Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix, Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, and the ever-popular Ridge Racer are also on the radar. Maybe one of the baseball games, even.
