When do you expect a DS price drop?

After thinking I'd never want the system, I'm starting to think about a DS because of a couple of titles which also generate some interest in the wife ... plus a good screen for GBA games.

But when do you think the price will drop, and to what? I could pick one up this week for $170CDN at Best Buy (That's $30 off), or I could check EBay and maybe score a deal on a system w/games, but maybe a cheaper price is coming 'round the bend.

Beats me. I was in a car accident a week ago and haven't been there since June.

Oh dear!!!

DS price drop will rather be with the launch of the Wi-Fi service (Or theyÂ’ll bundle in a USB dongle!!!)
Or with the Pokemon release to ensure massive numbers

I'm hoping for a Euro DS pricedrop or bundle deal on September 1st, so that Nintendo can stab Sony's PSP launch in the back.

already happened in NZ. was 250, now 208. might be a special though......

A special where?

I want a price drop in Japan, so I can score one of those sexy white ones. Or maybe the pink one.

I got mine on eBay with Mario DS and FF 1&2 for 130$ Canadian. it'll take several price drop to reach that price.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new tier of pricing for all of the Game Boy line this Christmas when the Micro hits. The DS would become $129.

It really needs one. $129 is most likely but I think Nintendo should just go for broke and slash to $99... that'd really move systems.

I expect a DS price drop in the US and Japan before November. I think Europeans are screwed as usual.

Gee, thanks :D

But unfortunately I fear you are most likely correct.

in the US, i'd say before Christmas...i mean they already got one step closer by bundling a free game with the system, and if after the bundle deal is over the DS continues to see craptacular sales (sub 100k for a whole month) I suspect they would drop the price to $119-129.

The only time I can see a price drop on the DS is when there is a system that can give it a run for its money, and since there is no system that has done that yet, Nintendo does not need to lower the price of the system.

Have you seen the latest numbers? PSP is kicking DS butt, in the US anyway. There's a reason that Nintendo is giving away Mario 64 with every DS now, and it's not because they're feeling really nice right now.

Is it? That's news to me... Not that I really care.

Anyway, the DS is worth 150 clams, IMO. I've got no complaints about owning a DS... The software lineup is getting better and better as 2005 rolls on. I'm excited 'bout the fall/winter releases.
