When harddrive space isn't an issue, do you install all of your digital games?

I recently bought a 5TB external harddrive for my XBox One, and decided to install all the backwards-compatible digital 360 games I own. However quite a few of them were games I have no real intention of playing, due to them being freebies that I don't really care for. Nonetheless, I still installed them, but of course, this leads to clutter on the Dashboard, and means it takes longer to scroll to the games you want to play.

I guess I just feel like I should have immediate access to all the games I own when space isn't an issue.

Are you the same, or do you clear out junk so that only games you see yourself playing are available at any given time? And do you feel differently when your library of games is larger/smaller?

Nope. I only keep what I am going to play installed, with the exception being something that would be hard to download again (The Witcher 3 or Wolfenstein: The New Order).

I have about 80 games installed out of the 200, i own on Steam. I only install the ones which i may play in the recent future.

Nah. Even if I have the space I need to consider internet quota for the download. I'd rather just keep the ones I want on it and manage the rest as I go. It is also less painful in the event of hard drive failures and what not.

I delete games as soon as I've finished them unless I know I'm going to replay them soon. I keep 'arcade' style games (like Peggle) and sport/racing games installed.

I don't install all of my games, but I don't remove them either until I am running out of space.

That said re-downloading for me is absolutely trivial as I think it takes an hour to download ~50 gigabytes for me, so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, unless it is 100% done and dusted

Some games I might remove as it increases the chance of Kinect mishearing me and booting something random

I used to have a terrible internet connection of about 1 meg and so I would make sure all my games were installed so that if I felt inclined to play them I wouldn't have to wait a day. I have three HDDs in my pc filled with steam games. Ive now moved and have an 80meg connection. woo.

Nope. I have a 1TB HD in my PS4 and a 1TB SSD in my PC. I have a load of games on both systems but don't have the storage drive fulled. My PS4 only has Witcher 3, Digimon, Disney Infinity 3.0, GTA V, Rocket League installed at the moment. My PC has BF4, Battlefront, LoL, Pillars of Eternity, Rocket League, GTA V, Street Fighter V.

Not sure what free space my PS4 has but my PC still has 704GB. I just download games when I want to play them and delete them when I'm done. For example, I was playing Divinity Original Sin but couldn't get into it. However, I intend to go back to it so just deleted it until I want to play it again. My internet isn't the fastest but it allows me to easily download games often. At this rate I won't need to upgrade to a bigger storage for a long time and thank goodness unless the price of SSD's drop hard.

Yeah, why wouldn't you if space isn't an issue? If there's even a .000000001% chance you'll play a game again, it's better to have it ready to go.

I install every game I think I might want to play if I have the room. In practice I never have enough room to do this though.

Pretty much. There might be a few PS+ or GwG games I can't be bothered downloading though, even if I 'purchase' them, or delete after 5 minutes.

No, I try to keep my installed games library as small as possible. At least on Steam, where I know the download speeds are good.

There's some stuff I always keep installed (Deus Ex), but I see no reason to keep some shitty game I played for five minutes during the Potato Sack event installed.

I usually install as much as I can and then do a cleanup every six months or so.

My PS4 is full (1TB) and it hurts. I'll need to upgrade it again this year.

Almost 30 months after buying it, and probably about 40-50 games played, on my launch PS4 with 1TB installed from day one, at this moment I still have 420GB available.

And all my games are digital.

I download the game, play it, finish it and delete it.
The ones that remain are those that I never finish playing (Destiny, BF4, FIFA and Madden, Borderlands and Dying Light).
Everything else - gone.

I had all of my Games With Gold and X360 games installed, but got tired of looking at all those icons for games I would never play, so I deleted 80% of them.

Fast internet connections and no data cap make it a non issue. I'm using a 500GB Evo specifically for Steam so disk space is the issue for me if I install all my games. Most of which I will never play again.

I checked and the only ones I have installed now are W3, FO4, Soma,Ori and Planetside 2 they take up about 150 GB.

If I'm sure I'll play the game soon, sure, yeah. Otherwise there's no need since I've got a fast connection.

e: That is, on PC. I would do this on a PS4, though, since apparently my fast connection means fuck all with the shitty servers they've got

I did once install every game I owned on Steam on a 2TB drive a few years back.

But install sizes have kept increasing, and ultimately, I just don't need all those games installed at once when I'm only actively playing maybe a dozen different games on a regular basis.

Nope - I get severe choice paralysis. I'd much rather have 15/20 games installed I know that I want to play rather than 100+ and spend ages staring at the list and not playing stuff.

I take the jukebox approach and install everything on the consoles in the family room.
If you're not sharing the system though I could see it making more sense to just install what you're currently playing - bandwidth caps not withstanding -

harddrive space is an issue for me I own so many recent games on steam the entire library exceeds 5.5TB's and I only got 3TB lol

I only install what I will play.

Still got everything installed on a 2TB external for my X1, which I've had since launch and still have over 700GB left. No real advantage in me removing any, but I did scroll past Watchdogs last night and thought I may as well!

Yes and no.

I would only download the games I haven't completed or want to play in the future.
If I've completed a game and have no desire to play it soon then I won't install it.

However, once I've downloaded, played and completed the game then I tend to leave it installed (unless it's stupidly big, I'm looking at you GTA 5).

On pc, I install the ones I play on my main ssd drive, but create backups of the games and stotmre them on a separate HD that is connected to my computer.

For xb1 I have a 3tb external, so I download all the games and don't worry about deleting anything

I install everything I own. If i run out of space that means I need a bigger drive. Not delete things.

I like having everything installed, unless it's a huge MP game I probably won't play again (EX: Titanfall, BF4). Sometimes you will also have issues with games that get delisted. I have 400 games on Steam, almost all of them installed.

If I run out of room, I'll just buy a bigger HDD/SSD/Hybrid Drive. So far, my 3TB HDD still has a decent amount of room.

If I could I would install everything. Even games i have no intention on playing. Having the option to do so at will would be nice.

Haven't had the need to delete anything since external support came out for Xbox One. I've got around 1.8TB still left of my 4.5TB and thats with 113 games installed. I can delete some as well since a few are older sports games which I don't play anymore.

Internet bandwidth is an important factor in my decision, if redownloading would be a hassle, I try to keep my games within reach as much as possible.

Yes I'm doing the same on Xbox One, installing all the monthly Games With Gold on my external HD, even though i already know i won't play like 80% of those
