When harddrive space isn't an issue, do you install all of your digital games?

Good lord no. I don't want to stare at a wall of games, I would crumble and never play anything.

I just leave installed what I want to play.

On steam its currently
Street fighter V
Sunless sea
Invisible Inc
Darkest dungeon
Dark souls
Shadowrun Hong Kong

Basically a few games I like to play on and off and one other game I will tackle when I'm in the mood (in this case that is shadow run Hong Kong)

The only thing likely to change for me in the next couple of months is replacing dark souls with darksouls 3. Rest will stay in there.

I did actually. Not too long ago I upgraded my PS4's HD to a 2 TB. I then went and had a download orgy party! I installed everything in my library. Ah good times! Good times!!

Yup, recently got a 2TB HDD for my Xbox One and installed all the Xbox One games I own and a few of the 360 games. I moved everything from the internal to the external as well. I am using 46.7% of my 2TB HDD.

Of course, on my PS4 and 3DS all the games are installed and readily available.

On PC? Lolno, it's not even possible and wont be for at least a decade given the sheer size of my library.

Yeah within reason. Games I've 100% or I know I'm never going to play again (looking at you Smite) I'll uninstall and hide from my list so I can forget about them in the darkest depths of digital hell.

Only games I'm currently playing, other games can go.
And on PC I actively delete games as I'm done with them, on PS4 when I need more space.

What I do is I have the games i do want to play in one location (say - external) and the other ones (freebies, beaten, back compat or whatever) in internal or vice-versa.

That way I simply alternate between external and internal to choose which type of game I'd like to play.

Until MS gives us a better way to classify our digital games - say FOLDERS - that's the best way I can think of not deleting everything and still having some kind of control over what's shown.

Edit: Xbox One of course. For the PS4 I find it simply impossible to organize it, specially because it lacks pins as well.

Yes, I install everything and generally keep it, especially backwards compatible games because the disc size is generally pretty small.

I delete old yearly games like Madden '15 if Madden '16 is out... I'm never going to play Madden '15 or NBA 2K15 once Madden '16 or NBA 2K16 are out, so I delete those ones. I also delete betas or demos, but I keep everything else.

I have a 3TB drive with like 1TB used, so once I get up to 2.5TB used maybe I'll remove some old stuff.

There isn't enough disk space on the world for me to install all my digital games on Steam. I do have all my 3DS games on the SD card, but I had to start making done discs even though it's 64 GB. All my Wii U digital games (pretty much every Nintendo game) are installed and it's super useful.

No.With the size of my Steam library I'd need ridiculous amounts of storage,I just tend to keep the games I'm regularly playing installed.

I used to, but I no longer think it's a good idea. On PC and now even PS3 I've started uninstalling games I'm "done" with and have no intention of returning too. Not just to save space, but to save time/thought when going through lists, narrow my opinions, reduce anxiety. Seeing >500 games in your list is...not as blissful as 10 year old me would have thought.

I do however keep all my Vita, PSP and 3ds digital games backed up just in case. And on console I'm more willing to keep a great game that I'll never return to on my HDD, a little more paranoid there than I am on PC.

I've got 750GB on my PS4, and a shitty internet. Unless I've got a very good reason to delete a digital game, it stays.

I was always under the impression that the emptier a hard drive is, the faster it runs (because every time a file needs to be accessed, it doesnt have to search through as many files).

So... uhm... I try to only install games I actually use on a HD, so no, I wouldn't just fill up a HD with all my games?

I think I've installed maybe one GWG since I got my One. I keep a lean hard drive only because I don't see the point of wasting my data cap on stuff I'm not gonna play.

You know, ideally all the gaming platforms should have a Plex-like system (Plex is a media server that analyzes your movies and episodes and tracks what you've watched and filters it out if you want as well as making suggestions what you could watch next).

That way you would end up with dynamic categories like "top rated games you haven't played yet" "installed games you haven't finished" and "unplayed games you haven't downloaded yet" or "untouched action games in your library" etc.

Would probably help with having large amounts of installed games, knowing what to download/delete etc.

Yep. I have every single Xbox one and PS4 game that I own installed. Currently have a 2tb HDD set in each console.

Yes. As matter of fact, I purchased a hard drive & a hard drive caddy for my laptop and removed my CD drive to put 500 GB more storage in it just so all of my Steam, Gog and Origin games can be installed for me to play at any time.

When I get my refund check the first purchase I'm going to do is a 500 GB portable hard drive for my Wii U and either a 1TB or a 2TB portable hard drive for my Xbox One just so I don't have to deal with that install, uninstall, install again foolishness.

I installed the 2 TB drive into my PS four installed every game.it's takes a solid 45 seconds to scroll all the games

Nope, after I got my 1TB Xbox - I downloaded several games including some BW-compats and then “discovered” that Comcast has a limit on downloads per month. So after that, only if I know I’ll be playing it will I download it… In addition to digital games, we do a lot of streaming, so just not worth the worry.. Also the reason I’ll stick with physical copies unless I have no choice…

If I know I'm not going to play a game ever again on my Xbox or PS4 then I'll delete it since it just makes scrolling to the game I actually do want to play a little bit more annoying.

I have over 100 games installed on my X1.

So yeah, haha.

Well, this is where the Kinect is absolutely worth it. I just say "Xbox go to (insert game)", and it launches the game instantly.

I pretty much only use the Kinect to control my receiver and to watch TV. Saying the entire name of a game is annoying, maybe I'll start using it for game selection when Cortana is in there.

No, I try not to be a hoarder. I only install the 5-10 games I'm actually playing at the moment. Installing everything is a huge waste of space and bandwidth because not only do you have to install them the first time, but they are all receiving updates from time to time, and if you aren't playing the game it's just a waste if you have a data cap. Furthermore, it's easier to stay focused and not get distracted if you have a limited subset installed. Finally, some systems performance in dash is affected by having a lot installed.

nope because of bandwidth caps. However, I just won't delete games from my HDD when i finish them as i would when i didn't have the same amount of space to prevent needing to redownload them

I don't understand this question. How could you not install a digital game? You mean buy it and not download it? Or do you mean, do you reflexively delete it when 'done' with it?

EDIT: I guess this is a Xbox One specific question with the 360 BC games? Wish I had that problem on PS4 :-(

No.I only install games that i intent to play or games that i liked. The games that i don't like i delete them. Just like with my physical collection i don't like to keep junk just to make my collection look bigger or for whatever other reason.

Only about half of my Steam collection is installed onto my desktop, and thr missing games have nothing to do with hard d4ive space or hardware specs.

Upgraded my PS4 with a 2TB samsung HDD so at the minute I have everything installed on there (digital and disk based).

Think I'm up to around 130 games installed at my last count.

I keep all of my games installed at all times, almost have my 3 TB hard drive filled up by this point. Of course, it has more than just games, but that is the overwhelming majority of the drive's use.

EDIT: This is on PC by the way, not sure if that falls in line with the topic now, but felt like clarifying.

I used to, but now I have an unlimited 200Mb fibre connection that can pull down 95GB in less than an hour, I just have what I'm playing on the HD.

I have a 2TB on my PS4....so why wouldn't I? I'm not even close to making a dent and i always download the PS+ games each month. Apart from game installs from physical games, the only major title I've downloaded is Street Fighter V.

I only have 2.5tb on my PC, and 1tb on my PS4, so at the moment it's not an option. But someday, yeah, I'd love to have enough storage space to not only have all of my games installed so I can play them at any given time without waiting to download, but also store all of my movies/tv shows as well. A persistent media server and storage rack is definitely in my future at some point.

No, I have a 2TB drive inside my PS4 and a 2TB external on my xbox one and I still try to curate whats installed.

First if too many games are on the dashboard I spend more time trying to figure out what to play than actually playing games, the "too many choices" dilemma. By keeping the list fairly short I play a game, finish it over time, and delete it. There are a handful of games I always keep though, like GTA5 or TLOU or the Forza games since its fun to just jump in, play for a bit, then not play again for six months. They are also great demos for any friends who come over and are interested in buying a console.

Second I have a 150 mbs internet and no real cap so redownloading something is no big deal at all for me. I'm sure if I had a crap internet connection it would be more an issue, but I can download a full 40 gig game in an hour or less.

If I can't have all my games installed, updated and ready to play, then I just plain stop buying games. I'm not prepared to commit my games back to digital limbo just because I'm not playing them right now.

If I don't think I'm gonna play something for a while, I'll make that space available. Every now and then I'll clean out a bunch of stuff.
