When sports fans say "We" this and "We" that

Yep I hate it, the exception I make is if you are talking about a college team and you are currently attending that college.
I don't see how that's different from normal though. You might go to college, but you don't play on the team. You being there at college has little to no impact on the team performance.

Isn't that being a bit hypocrite to call people out on it but saying being college is okay?

Aligning or attaching yourself to someone/something is not unusual.

When a man says, "We are pregnant". Does that kill you?

After all, the man isn't pregnant; his wife is.

I think it is worse when people into politics use "we" to describe their party. At least my sports team takes less of my money and patronizes me less.

I'm part owner of the Packers, so that's my excuse. :P

People like to belong to a group and collective and it makes sports even more fun than it already is. Not you though. Youre above and beyond all that.

It's super awkward, and no adult should do it.

However, the one exception is if you're referring to your alma mater, because you paid enough money to earn the right to say "we".

What about the Seahawks calling fans the 12th man, and similar situations with other teams.

Reporting this post to the TAMU athletic department, you owe some royalties, sir.

We, The New England Patriots organization, believe it's perfectly fine to talk about us and our performances in this manner.

We think that we can do whatever we want if we want to talk like this.

There is no more connection in going to a college then there is living in a city.

Ok you're right. It's stupid no matter how you put it.

So, you don't get why individuals attach themselves to or associate themselves with sports teams they support financially or invest in emotionally?

Well we do.

Who cares?
Ppl make personal connections to their sports teams. Why is that any different than ppl that are part of ANY fandoms? This isn't anything unique to sports. And I don't know why you or anyone would be upset at what others do as long as it's not affecting you

When the "U-S-A" chants or "we beat them!" phrases would start during a particular event, that was my cue to leave the room.

Ugh, still makes me rage. Lol.

I never realized how annoying it was until the Australian Olympics.

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

When sports fans try to insult me just by pointing out I'm a kpop fan it's really funny.

To be fair, real fans do contribute to the team, the money invested to watch your team play will pay a significant chunk of the players wages so I think the real fans are more than entitled to include themselves as "we"

I feel sorry for all of you who have nothing to believe in.

We're going to beat Fiji on Friday and 50 million English people get to celebrate the fact that we won a Rugby game.

I went to a concert, bought a shirt and an LP, and called myself part of the band.

Nothing's weird with me, no sir.
