Where are you buying the Seinfeld DVDs?

Circuit City is overpriced ($40 per set, $90 for the gift set).

Target doesn't tell you the prices for each set.

CompUSA is $30 for each set, $70 for the gift set. But no bonus DVD like at Best Buy.

Best Buy doesn't tell you the prices for each set ($80 for gift set). But they do have a special bonus "Before Seinfeld" DVD offered with each purchase.....though it just seems to have interviews with minor cast members. Not sure if it is worth the extra money just to get the free "extra" disc. I suppose if you are a scammer then you could buy from both Best Buy and CompUSA, then return one set to Best Buy and keep the free disc.

Currently I'mdebating between CompUSA and Best Buy. I'm also not sure if the gift set is really a good value. It just comes with a bunch of useless extra trinkets (a script? ketchup and mustard bottles? playing cards? Huh?). From product descriptions, I can't tell if the Gift Set actually has any extra DVD content....or if it is just stupid clutter meant to justify a price hike.

All the online stores are actually more expensive that the brick & mortar outlets....or at least CompUSA's first week prices.

The Gift Set doesn't have any DVD extras, just those "stupid extras" you're talking about. But I'm a sucker and I want a script with "handwritten notes from Larry David," whatever that means exactly.

Also, I just read the description of the extra DVD and that sounds like it's worth it. Come on, interviews with the actors who played Jerry and George's parents, Newman, Uncle Leo, etc.? It's worth it. Oh man I can't wait for this. I get back home for Thanksgiving late Wednesday night, and I'm waking up at a decent hour on Thursday so I can buy the DVD set before the relatives come over. YES!!! GLORIOUSNESS!!

i got the european dvds and i have been a little disappointed with the extras. the commentary tracks are quite weak and not every episode has one.
what i thought was going to be good recipe for laughs, Larry and Jerry commentary tracks, isnt so hot.
not too many funny stories or jokes.

the best doc i have seen on the disc is the kramer vs kramer. Micheal Richards is a very very funny guy and the doc reveals how hard he worked and how much of an outsider he was.

notes about nothing are worthless, for the most part.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
I'll be buying them at best buy tomorrow, they should be $29.99.

I picked up the Gift Set for my dad today.

If you pick up a CompUSA flyer and take it to Circuit City ($89.99 gift seft), they will price match and subtract 10% of the difference ($2). So it becomes $67.99 (+tax). If you just bought the two sets individually, they would be $28.99 each.

I ran over to Best Buy as well. The Seinfeld Bonus DVD is free with purchase, but you can also get them for $3.99 a piece.

Did anyone open the gift set yet? I have it here unopened but I'm starting to wonder if I should take it back. I don't think I care all that much for the extra stuff at $10 more, but what would be the kicker for me is if the DVDs weren't the same sets as the normal season sets. In other words, same casing etc. If I open them up, I just want to at least put the DVDs on my DVD shelf. So is the casing inside the same or did they change it for the gift set?

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
From one of the deal forums:

Pick up the Hollywood Video Companion guide inside of it you'll find a page for Seinfeld for $19.99. The price is a mistake but take it to Wal-Mart and after a bit you should be able to get the price matched.

I just did it, and at first I was told after the sales asst. talk to someone on the phone, no but then I asked to speak to who he spoke to, went to the customer service desk, complained and got the price matched.

The Hollywood Video gambit!

I would highly advise AGAINST getting the gift set. The script is "The Big Salad", it's ok, but the written notes are just like a scribbly line here and there once every 5 pages, the first 3 pages are just some random shit written in that I can't read anyway.

Playing cards are sweet though, the salt shakers are ceramic, not bad, but I would never use them. The napkin holder actually works, but hell if I could ever find napkins that size. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, only like 4 inches high. I thought it was the same size as a real one. Comes in a nice enough box but when you take out the cards and salt shakers, there is too much extra room.

If you've got money to burn, go ahead, but it's not that good. You can find it for only 10 dollars more than buying the 2 sets seperately, so not a huge price diff.

I wouldn't have bought it if I saw the extras in person ahead of time.
