Where does your nickname come from?

I mean, we know a ton of users here have some peculiar nicknames that a lot of people wouldn't get at first instance. So, simply enough, where does your GAF nickname come from? What's the context behind it? What was your main inspiration for it? (if it isn't just any random word that came first to your mind).

I'll start myself with just one gif...

I suck a lot when it comes to creating nicknames, and I was in a Lain mood at the time, so you get the idea...

DeafTourette

Perpetually Offended
I had a website at the time based on my advocacy for both the Tourette and Deaf communities... Which included bringing awareness of the truth of the illnesses and the communities built from them (and they ARE communities, more in the deaf world than the Tourette world, tho). I'm a member of both so... That's where DeafTourette came from.

Dacvak

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
My initials, “D.A.C.”

Though it’s not really a nickname at this point. Most people in my life know me as and call me “Dac”, even my fiancée and most friends/family. Really old friends, and my parents/siblings use older nicknames or my real name sometimes, though.

It's a dumb combination of dr.mario and Ganon. I came up with it a long time ago and just kept using it for stuff because I was too lazy to come up with something better.

My favorite fictional character of all time from one of my favorite novel trilogies of all time. Give it a read!

Sand dan Glokta was a former champion swordsman and dashing war-hero of the King's Own, before being captured and tortured for years by the Gurkish. As a shunned cripple, he turns from tortured to torturer, becoming an Inquisitor in the King's Inquisition.

He is a major POV character in the First Law trilogy and a major supporting character in Age of Madness trilogy.

marsupilami is a cool, crazy, hyperactive little jungle monster.

I identified with him back in the kids days. As I was also a cool crazy and hyperactive little monster

The M in front is for my first name. It used to be MMaRsuPilaMi but that was a bit too long, so I just shortened it to MMaRsu

I took my name from the short story "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" from Robert Louis Stevenson. I love that story. I've read it countless times. It's one of my favorites along with Lewis Carrolls "Alice in Wonderland" and H. P Lovecrafts "At the mountains of Madness." I also think the name is fitting because I'm bipolar and can have severe mood swings that alter my personality. I've also had bouts with paranoia and mild schizophrenia. I'm medicated now though since a couple of years back so feeling better overall.

I'd hope that mine is pretty obvious, a reference to duck tales.

(the original avatar helped which was an edit of one of the ducks)

In origin i was Wolf because i like wolves, then i added 46 because it was the number if valentino rossi and i was a motogp fanboy, then a supermod in another forum knew that i was a gym rat so he changed the name into gymwolf, i thought it was super lame but i kept the name anyway.

The rest is history.

I looked remarkably similar to Ringo Starr when I was younger which led to my nickname at the time being Ringo. And I'm old school weeb that was totally a  Super  Saiyan in the 90s so when usernames started becoming a thing I naturally had to let the internet know that I'm Super Saiyan Ringo!

And since I'm lazy I never bothered coming up with another username.

I got mine from heavy metal band 'Chimaira'. They released this documentary for their record 'Resurrection' and they named one of their guitar riffs 'Lucifers Beard'. Stuck ever since for me.

I needed a "secondary" AOL name to use in a RPG chat room thing (anyone remember those?), i was playing a lot of Soul Edge/Blade so i shortened Mitsurugi's name and added a "X" cause it was the 90's that that made is seem mysterious. Kept the name ever since.

Paasei is Dutch for "easter egg".

Not only that, but it's some sort of nickname to my real last name, which is: Van Paassen
Paassen is pronounced the same as Pasen, and might even be old spelling (this is just guessing, I don't know). Pasen = Easter.

So I'm staying in theme of my last name and also gaming, considering what easter eggs are in games.

The phrase Arino says right before turning on the console, "Kachō on!", signifies his role as chief of the aforementioned company.

My original handle was 'Ragnarok500'. I had it for a number of years before concluding that it was too unremarkable. Unfortunately, having no interesting, original ideas for a new name that could effectively tie to me personally, I did what any sensible person would do: I manufactured one. I grabbed tons of words, English and foreign, sliced them up, put the parts together, and judged the results based off how pithy and original they sounded. This was the best one imo.

'Pal' is short for 'Paladin', btw, although I haven't corrected anyone on the rare occasion they've tried dissecting the name.

Had an account banned on old-gaf for wrongthink, during the most ban-heavy times prior to the reset-era split -- so., I was resurrected when things changed here; also, obviously a contrarian by temperament. And "resurrected" is also intended a marker of christian commitment.

Had to make a name in Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast. Character looked devious so I thought DeVeAn. Turns out its a legit name already I had no idea at the time.
