Where is Sega headed?

My sister lives in Cottam. I visited at Christmas too :)

Sweet, that's like 20 minutes away.

Whitehaven, Cumbria....

although Preston is only relatively near....

I have the dubious pleasure of heading back to Cumbria next month...
My nipples are not tingling with delight.

I've never been, though I know where it is. I quite like Cumbria, but then I only go once every couple of years and it's usually just a sunny day into the Lake District. Seems a bit quiet to be there all year. Still, Whitehaven's a great name for a town.

And now we all live half way round the world. I wonder what that means...

It'd be great to see more of Sega next gen. They still make some great games (Outurn 2 and FtM, for example), just not as many as during their 1st party days.

The optimist in me would like to think that Sega's preparing some big games for the next gen (gotta be a little optimistic to still be a Sega fan :p). Getting in early on the Xenon/PS3/Revolution hype could go a long way towards re-establishing their image. Also I hope they take a multiplatform approach next gen. Games with large appeal like VF5, Sonic, PSU, and Monkey Ball 3 need to be released simultaneously on all platforms.

As a former Sega loyalist, I just want them to go away. Period. And I know many feel the same exact way.

I want them to stay around. I love there style of games. oh sure you were a former Sega loyalist!! I guess that is the reason why your avatar is from Zelda.

Well it's from one of the most embarassing titles Nintendo ever let hit the market (even though they didn't make it)...

No, they made stupid decisions by making their games shite. We all have our own personal ideas for what Sega should do. I couldn't give a damn about Phantasy Star and VF4. I want Nights, good Sonic games, Hot Rod, Panzer Dragoon, more JSR, and more classic oldschool-ness. But that's not going to make them a lot of money either.

Sega has made alot of good games going third party. The problem is Sega means something different to everyone. You have the people that lked the Genesis games, the ones that prefer thier arcade games, thier Saturn games, and thier Dreamcast games.

for the record these are some of the games i consider good
Panzer Dragoon Orta. (x-box)
JSRF (x-box)
House of the Dead 3 (x-box)
Gunvalkrie (x-box)
Toe jam and earl 3 ( x-box)
Outrun2 (x-box)
Shenmue 2 (x-box)
Monkey ball 1 and 2 ( Gamecube)
Phantasy star Online episode 1 and 2 ( gamecube and X-box)
Billy Hatchers ( gamecube)
SOA Legends (gamecube)
Virtua Fighters 4 (ps2)
Shinobi ( the game played good it just needed a good coat of paint and more flashy graphics but the old school play was there. (ps2)

I liked Sonic heroes, and Sega gt 2000, but I understan alot of people don't. I know I will buy the Sega clasic collection just for Virtua Racing.

I think if they had released ALL of thier games in all the systems, you would see complaining alot less about Sega. When they divided thier games they split thier market share from the Dreamcast days.

But of late Sega has made some awful games, and brought them out to the USA. Games like Blood will tell, Astro Boy, Amazing Island, and Virtua Quest. All of these games should have stayed in Japan. they Buy Tenchu from activision, but it won't sell. The Tenchu 3 didn't sell on either Ps2 or X-box. So why should Sega expect the new one to sell. Sega of America decides not to pick up Altered Beast. That would at least atract the old school crowd with it's name.

p.s. I would love a remake of Burning Rangers and Nights, but I doubt it will happen

Whatever happened to Sega whoring out their franchises to 3rd parties or was that announcement a while back a joke?

I dunno, the overworks and RED team are still doing fun little low budget titles that have no chance of selling (Kunoichi/Dororo/the upcoming Shinsengumi game next week) and AM2 has been really quiet, so it's really only the remaining parts of Sega that keep releasing crap like VF Quest and Altered Beast.
Erm, VFQuest was farmed out to TOSE and Altered Beast is actually coming from the Overworks team. Reiko's doing it herself. :/

Sega will be back big time next-generation. They've got killer properties and they've still got lots of talented developers and experience. Games I expect next-gen:

A New Sonic
A New Phantasy Star Online
A New Shemnue
A New Virtua Fighter (Online)
A New Panzer Dragoon RPG

They're already working on a new Daytona and they're picking up some quality games for publishing (Otogi 2, etc.). I think Sega won't die any time soon.

AM2 has been really quiet, so it's really only the remaining parts of Sega that keep releasing crap like VF Quest and Altered Beast.

SEGA-AM2 haven't been quiet. Recently they've completed and released both Quest of and Ghost Squad in the arcades and next month at AOU I expect them to unviel(or least peices) of SEGA's new arcade hardware along with Virtua Fighter 5.

I thought them picking up Tenchu was an interesting move... must........... publish........ more......... Ninja............ games :lol

VF5 at Ps3 Launch!

you heard it here first!

GAF exclusive!

I for one don't doubt that Virtua Fighter 5 would be a PS3 launch title. If you think about it,by the time the PS3 hit Virtua Fighter 5 would've already done a stint in the arcades. The greatest thing about VF5 launching with the PS3 though,is that it finally can go against Tekken at a launch.
