Where Ya Curly Mustaches At?! Marvel vs Capcom 3 Hype Thread of Scoops!

I would like to see MvC3 in 2d sprite form, but I know there's a slim chance for that. I prefer the look of a 2d sprite based fighter over polygon rendered.

Wasn't there an interview confirming that all future fighters from Capcom will be in 2.5D using 3D engines anyways?I don't mind as long as the presentation is good, though I do feel they shouldn't totally abandon sprites and still keep it alive in some form.

Eh, TvC hate is predictable that it becomes a parody of itself.

Seriously now. Is it the stigma of being Wii exclusive or does having relatively unknown characters really bug people that much?
If the latter, Chun Li, Blanka, etc. were all unknown at one point too

how ignorant. how many non-fps games were built on fps engines? thanks.

no but really, for someone that pretty much hates TVC - I'm gradually coming around to the idea of the engine being used for MVC3... but the GAME needs to be Marvel: Crazy, broken shit and fast insane action. Moves that hit inside / on the other side / on top of you / in your face at the same time. Things that hit underneath and become unblockable... broken shit is what makes Marvel.... Marvel.

Wow this is like Smash-tard level of ignorance. Maybe I just don't have that crazy mindset, but are MVC2 fans really that scared at the idea of a solid, BALANCED MvC game?

Oh and the MvC3 = TVC2 was kinda made tongue-in-cheek, just FYI.

Is this a Capcom character or a Marvel (Disney) character?
Haha, Disney character. Darkwing Duck is awesome, look him up.

Although I'd rather Disney stay out of this. It's Marvel vs. Capcom, not Disney's Marvel vs. Capcom. :<

actually what made marvel into marvel was the characters for the majority of people. I'd love to see a balanced mvc3

Even though I think Shuma Gorath is funny, he/she (I keep reading conflicting things regarding its gender) was probably included just because the sprites were already done, not because of some public outcry. Though I do think Shuma is a unique addition.
Oh i know why he was added to the mvc roster, but he was still an odd fit for marvel super heroes.

Oh I know who Darkwing Duck is... it's just that he was in a Capcom game back in the day.. and Disney now owns Marvel... so in Marvel vs Capcom, Darkwing Duck now might actually be closer to the Marvel camp ... but he's also Capcom and..... MY HEAD ASPLODES.

smash-tard level of ignorance? yikes. to even say that is frightening...

Was MVC1 balanced? No. Were ANY vs games "balanced"? There's a reason MVC2 lasted for 10 years and it was because of the crazy, random shit that just happens in that game. Would I care if every character had more of a purpose? No. I'm in favor of more characters having a purpose than more characters being there just to say you have a huge roster.

But I also don't want "balance" to remove 8 way dash, etc. because of the people that couldn't learn how to block within 10 years of a game's existence.

You can claim TVC is balanced all you'd like, but that is a completely different game from MVC series... so, that's pointless.

Ah, gotcha. Completely slipped my mind Capcom made a shitload of licensed Disney games. :lol

Obligatory "IS MAHVEL BAHBEE!!!!" post. :D

BRING IT ON!

Definitely needs some Dante/Vergil, Deadpool, Blade, Carnage, Phoenix, Zero, Ghost Rider, Bionic Commando, Frank West, Samanouske, FF4 etc. into the mix. There needs to be at least 100+ characters in this game or BUST.

Wow, I agree on one thing, it's definitely pointless to argue against logic like that, but I'll bite. How is TvC different than MvC other than cast and graphics to warrant such a hefty claim? I mean yeah there's a bunch of subtle differences, but it is still part of the Versus series (I mean if this were Marvel and SNK yeah they're different), Capcom themselves have said so. You're saying they're wrong? I just can't wrap my head around your thought process.

Is this the one we can all agree on?

Deadpool, Carnage, and Spider Man will all look too similar. They should just merge them into one character called Carpool Man.

:-/

I want sprites for the game but is unrealistic, new HD sprites for +40 characters is a huge work, years of work in fact, unless they hire an army of people from China. Take a look to Blazblue or Kof 12 (not HD sprites but superb animation and shadows), it took years to make the sprites and the rooster in those games is small.

Dude from Onimusha would be sweet. if it's 2.5D, make the megaman character look like the design from MegaMan Legends.

MV2 might have lasted for 10 years, but that still wont change the fact that it was a niche fighting game, the XBLA/PSN release has sold a lot because it has the name MARVEL in it, and is available for a very cheap price.

For a full priced product with an obviously much higher development cost, this ignorant mentality (saying that "cause people couldnt learn how to block within 10 year etc") will not be greenlit. It must be a fighter which has a casual appear, which has a learnable system, and some kind of balance.

They do not create games to become niche and to last 10 year when they got back in the fighting game genre. Capcom needs to estabilish a new age of fighting (which they started with SFIV), not to make niche shitfest broken crazy games which appeal nobody outside the very hardcore.

Whether the game is using the same engine has no bearing on the fact that this thread is about MVC3 not TvC2. And anyway the TvC engine ≠ TvC (I'm sure Capcom - if they are in fact using the same engine - would tweak it to be more representative of MvC)

The fact that people are saying they want this game to be like TvC confounds and irritates me. TvC came out somewhat recently - play that people or wait for its proper sequel.

I wish people would stop crashing this thread with talks about mutating our (i.e. fans of MvC) long awaited sequel.

I own TvC just to let you know.

I hope it plays like TVC

I hope it uses the TVC engine and the TVC characters artstyle over SF4's ugly ones

Also want TVC-like soundtrack over that jazzy shit.

IMO it shouldn't be like either TVC or MvC2.

There is an artstyle and music genre that is appropriate for Marvel/Capcom... but they haven't necessarily shown it in any game prior. I hope they discover it.

Well if anything, it'd be cool if they went back to the Comic Book motif from X-Men vs SF

But the cool thing that excites me is just to see how they're going to do it overall graphically.

TvC also has plentiful of victory quotes, with each character having a specific victory quote to each opponent, and with nearly all which are tongue-in-cheek.

I hope MvC3 has that. But alas...

lol. Exactly why I posted what I posted earlier. There's still talk about TvC vs MvC2 in terms of how Mvc3 should play. Honestly its ridiculous.

In the Japanese versions, at least, it was the same way for a number of the Marvel games, as well. It was just that CoA's translators was lazy, and didn't bother translating such quotes after like, MSH. :lol

I mean, "Shadow" actually had unique quotes in MSH vs. SF's JP version. But the English version just ripped Charlie's quotes from Xmen vs. SF wholesale. Yeah.... :lol
