Yea, but that wasn't the picture I was talking about. The other one isn't so cut and dry. But you're probably right, since the other one doesn't have the V that would be on Joe's helmet.

I havent been hearing more than thirty. In interview is was more like around thirty. As in, probably not much more or less than this number.

We could do a completely meritless extrapolation of Capcom's previous character roster size announcements.

Ono originally said around 8 new characters for SSFIV. They ended up adding 10, or a 25% increase.

They're saying that MvC3 will have a roster size of approximately 30. Let's go with a 25% increase to 37.5.

37.5 characters confirmed!

Him or Nemesis would fit so well on the Capcom roster. I'd much rather have both of them instead of Chris and Wesker.

My bad then. I haven't seen every single picture or background that has been released. I'd imagine that the pictures that single Joe out would have been discussed on GAF by now.
 
I edited my boss list after something about The Sentry hit me.
He would be the perfect multiform boss for Marvel.

The Sentry (mulitple form:1st Normal Sentry, 2nd posessed by The Void Sentry, 3rd THE VOID)

This would make for one badass boss fight. The only other thing that comes close would be fighting Angra from Godhand.

Speaking of which could that be Gene in the image in the lower right near Captain America?
 
By the way, there were some recent comments in different places that they were still finalizing the roster -- nope, it's done. Agent M from Marvel tweeted this today when asked if there was a way to lobby for characters: Not particularly. The crew has the character list pretty much locked down, we're just not showing everyone right away.

Not suprising. In the interviews the director aid that Capcom and Marvel negotiated which characters should be in the game from both companies. I am sure they had to lock all that down before going into full production.
 
I know it wouldn't really make sense to do this, but I'd love to see a completely broken team of 3 regular sized badasses, for a Boss Team. Something like Wesker (completely overpowered superhuman), Carnage (took an entire team of heroes from varying groups to take him down), and Nobunaga (legendary warrior/leader).

Unfortunately, if they were going to take the time to make three distinct characters, they would probably make them a part of the regular roster.

learn to double tap light kick and punch. Some launches an opponent in the air.... combo then launch a super while they're in the air. Dhalsim is like a god at doing this.

Okay We know we got Super Skrull, Deadpool, Felicia and Chun Li as well (not gonna bother with highlighting her shit just yet).


But who is THIS guy? It clearly looks like a Mega Man Master Robot...but I can't tell which one. It bears a strong resemblance to either Metal Man or Quick Man, but I am not sure.
Also, right next to him kind of looks like Gorgon from Marvel to me. He's a villain who works for Hydra, but again too vague to tell.
Not only this but on the far right We obviously got a guy wearing a trenchcoat next to someone in a suitcoat. I am thinking Dante or Devilhand for the coat guy. Devilhand because he looks like he has shades on and maybe Frank West or Phoenix Wright for the suitcoat guy. The jury is still out on these guesses though.

My main concern is who is that robot master. Feels like I'm watching Pokemon and playing Who's that pokemon...
 
Damn...your right it's cap. Morrigan's damn wing had me seeing an anime face on that head shape which made me forget about cap's wings.

That half the roster and levels will be DLC while you'll still be paying for a $60 game.
 
I don't quite get why people think Trish is in the game. I mean, yeah the silhouette kinda matches, but I don't see why they'd add both Dante AND Trish, but then I'm not too familiar with the series. I would think they would save multiple reps for bigger more iconic series like Resident Evil or Mega Man.

I was going to note. MvC2 was trash with character selection. Half the Capcom roster was just Street Fighter. If they actually spread them out this time. Like one from DMC, One from Onimusha, etc with all characters having individual movesets and not just clones with alterations. It would be allot better.

Man, I hate to say it, but you should probably make your peace with Gambit not being in the game, and then just take it as a bonus if he makes the cut. A lot of deserving characters are going to get the axe because of the smaller number of roster spots, and it doesn't help Gambit any that he hasn't been featured in any of Marvel's recent major media. Best bet is to hope Capcom is able to crank out more characters than expected or that we get a nice upgrade amount in SMvC3 (assuming there is one).

The silhouette doesn't just kinda match, it is damn close to a perfect match of those promo pictures, much like Frank West's silhouette is. I think it is a puzzling choice, but the silhouette match is so compelling that it seems safe to assume Trish unless proven otherwise.

I hate this argument. Like others have said, unless you are playing at tourney-level (aka 1% of the gaming community), more characters = more choices = more fun. MvC2 is my favorite fighting game of all time. I probably put in over 1000 hours of edge of your seat matches against friends and local community at the arcade. A lot of that fun was having so many characters to use and trying to use many of them. It was also nice because if you weren't playing hardcore fighting game enthusiasts who know the tiers, almost every match was you playing against a unique team since everyone had their comic book and capcom favorites.

Out of the 56 characters I'd say only the joke ones or clones were a waste. All the others were good fun to use.

I'm ok with MvC3 having 30, but I expect to enjoy mvC4 with its 50+ character roster quite a bit more when it eventually comes out, just like I expect to get far more playtime out of SSFIV than I did SFIV because of the much improved roster.
 
X-Men villains were overloaded in the first two some here's hoping for Doctor Octopus!

Jill had better make the cut as well or I will be a sad member of S.T.A.R.S.


Everything else like Viewtiful Joe and Dante are pretty much givens.

So the reports that they would have at least 30 characters are true. If they've already got 30 characters in the late stages of development then the ceiling may be at 40 characters by the time spring rolls around.

What I find puzzling is that already there are two Darkstalkers characters. Morrigan being a "poster" character on the level of Chris or Ryu is big in itself, but then there's Felicia too.

Can this please, please be an indication of a new Darkstalkers? :pray:

Devil May Cry is Capcom's fourth biggest franchise. Just under Mega Man and RE. And Street Fighter is still number 1 in sales, last time I checked, but that's because of SFII ginormous popularity.

Gambit was one of the main characters in the Wolverine movie! Blob confirmed?
 
I hope that giants count as 2 characters,with 3 character teams. And instead of assists, The giant always stays out and does random stomping and shit like a monster movie. When you switch to the giant, the other character rides on it's shoulder until you call in an assist. And the giants need to be bigger than in TvC.

Yea, it's kinda stupid. Even supposing that Felicia is about on par with Morrigan as a Darkstalkers icon, she was probably the least played character in MvC2.
