Can't see the vid at work, someone let me know what it says (probably just, "Thank you for your support, we look forward to pleasing you in the future, blah, blah, blah).

Pretty much.

Basically, yea. "I hope you like it, and stay tuned."

I'm not sure I buy that list -- Emma Frost doesn't really make much sense. She'd been pulled by Marvel in other games because she's not a brawler at all. They considered her for MUA2 and she was pulled. Taskmaster is just stupid -- no offense to the people that like the character, he just adds nothing to the game. And, there are zero cosmic representatives - Thanos, Nova, Silver Surfer, Quasar, etc ... so, I can't imagine they'd totally pass on that. Tron Bonne over a ton of other characters on the capcom side? Really?

I think it's really close, but not accurate.
That's not true at all. The potential that he can copy other characters moves makes him an exciting character for the game in a game play sense.

He looks a bit stupid design wise though... if this guy is actually in the game then that would put doubt over the silhouette pictures because the shadow of Dr. Doom could easily be his.

M2 - Taskmaster?

I can't believe no one mentioned that MVC3: Fate of Two Worlds is long for MVC3: FTW...

FTW!

Pretty much. I hope he does make the cut.

The FTW thing was mentioned like a billion times already.

Taskmasker wouldn't be able to copy the moves that matter -- energy based or supernatural, he's just another street brawler - he's not that unique when you already have Marvel street level fighters.

"While you could be right that it's not 100% (it is just a rumor, after all), going by your logic, Trish *definitely* wouldn't be in the game.

The difference is that Trish fights physically -- Emma is all mental, mental attacks don't really work well in game. I mean, yeah, she could go all diamond and be defensive, but her martial skills aren't all that.

Oh I do like the character! I dont like his forced sense of humor sometimes, but great character when done right. In a fighting game hell have some good options, as long as they dont make him too much like Cable.

Yeah, i dont like wit for the sake of it, but as you say, when used wisely, its really awesome. Guess the fourth-wall-breaking is what separates him from others in this manner.
He`s a no-brainer in this game, and one could get ideas for a moveset considering he`s been in the Ultimate Alliance games lately.

No Cyclops -> no buy.
He is THE leader of the X-Men, as of now.
And I seriously doubt he would lose the power play presented in Second Coming to Magneto or Emma.

Meh Cyclops is a douche.

I hope that Deadpool breaks the 4th wall in MVC2 as well... that would be EPIC.

No Psyloche, Mega Man, Cable, Strider, or Cyclops on that "leak"? That would be disappointing. But with the ~30 characters thing, I wouldn't be surprised if they left out some of these characters in favor of new ones.

I listened to the Kotaku podcast last night that featured Chris Baker (manager for licensed games at Marvel) as a guest. Here are the interesting points:

- There will be no licensing issues. Given that fact, I'll make the implicit assumption that Spider-Man is a lock for the roster.

I'm so glad that question was asked. That was the #1 thing I wanted answered. Puts my mind at ease, as there would be riots if he wasn't in. He's probably just not going to be featured as prominently as there are other characters with upcoming movies and other things they need to exploit sooner for hype (e.g. Iron Man)

While you could be right that it's not 100% (it is just a rumor, after all), going by your logic, Trish *definitely* wouldn't be in the game.

This I disagree with, since taskmaster is pretty much a power mimic, like rogue was.
His powerset emulates the fighting styles of others (though he's not super-powered per se) but he's also notorious for running around with replicas of wolverine's claws, Cap's shield, hawkeye's arrows, spiderman's webbing, etc.

you could treat him like an "edgemaster" kind of character, or just have him steal/mimic on a short term basis like rogue did. I don't think he's in there, but he would definitely add something to the game.

Nah they'd work fine as mental energy attacks like in the X Men Legends games. Plus she can turn into solid diamond and knock someone's block off if she wanted to. Doubt she is getting in before other more popular X Men characters though

So going by the that supposed leaked list the game should be renamed X-men vs Marvel vs Capcom. Marvel has far better females and villains in general than Emma Frost, Magneto and Juggernaut.

Better and more popular villians then Magneto? What?

WHAT?

Trish isn't a viable character. Not enough exposure, generic looks and trademark action moves.

I've said it before Dante is the only guy you need from DMC and that's it. Give the slot to someone else.

Ugh, come on guys, the list was proved to be fake. Move on
Yes, can we drop the analysis of the fake roster? It is already confirmed that it was a troll post.

Also, I just remembered about another cool quote from that podcast. It dealt with the personality of a certain unrevealed character. I'll have to see if I can pull up the quote when I get home.

Except Taskmaster is an amazing Avengers villain and Super Skrull is an amazing FF villain. So we have great non Xmen villains.

I know, but I just don't want to end up with a game full of X-Men characters and Street Fighter characters. Both sides have enough people that have never been showcased in a game before or at least in the VS series.

I'm going to assume that list is a fake because I can't believe Shuma-Gorath made it in again. He's barely in 616 Marvel Universe and, despite his shape, wasn't all that interesting gameplay-wise in MvC2. However, I could see Tron Bonne and Taskmaster in the final product. Tron Bonne had a unique fighting style. By breaking canon a bit, Taskmaster could be a Mokujin-style character that seems to be common in 3d fighters.

If it's THE Super Skrull, he's not so much of a villain anymore -- he and Nova have fought together on several occasion's - including Kl'rt helping Nova get to Earth during the Skrull invasion. So, we still need more villain's in my opinion :P
