Where's the snow?

This sucks, the northeast hasn't gotten any good snow storms all winter. Hell, we're not going to be getting any snow at all before christmas. That's never happened before in my lifetime.

It doesn't help that I'm in the southern part of Connecticut, so it's tough enough to get snow as it is.

I want my snow days, bitches.

I never understood people wanting snow days. All it does is shorten your summer, and I for one would rather have a day off when it's warm rather than cold and snowy.

Because I can have a snow day NOW. Summer is long enough as it is, I never miss the 2-3 days that is deducted from my summer vacation.

Besides, the last week of school is like a fucking jungle. Teachers have no authority over anyone, and you can just skip and they won't bother calling home.

Yessir.

Here in Milwaukee we had one beautiful night of snowfall, and nothing since.

I like snow. Sometimes it is pretty and fun to play with.

Wait, you people had time deducted from summer vacation when you have snow days?

Last school year, Grade 12 (Go Canada) we were out of school for five days after Hurricane Juan hit Halifax in September, and then in February we missed three days after we got about 90 cm (30-40 inches) of snow from "White Juan"...and we didn't miss a single day of our summer vacation.

You realize that statement is completely irrelevant here, right? Snow days don't somehow make the last week of school longer. It'll always be there, snow days or not.

But I digress...

Not for me, if I know I'm going to have my summer shortened by a whopping 2-3 days, I'll just make sure I enjoy my last week of school even more to make up for it.

But then again, it's only 2 or 3 days, so I don't give a shit. And besides, there are other things one can do on a snow day that you can't do during the summer.

So yes, I'd like it now, pops.

My penis is still intact.
I also had no idea you guys lost some summer vacation for a snow day.

How long do you get off in the US for summer anyway?

We have snow in Toronto :p While pretty, it's such a bitch to drive and walk through.

Not enough snow. :( Where do you live in T.O? If you're in the suburbs you might have more than what we've got downtown...I see nothing but pools of water (from the rain) :(

You're right, state mandates regarding the duration of public school years are clearly terrible. Down with education!

We've got that in Canada too...I guess we just say "Fuck it" more often.

Or our teacher's unions are cattier. "We ain't teachin' into summer, bitch".

Or you just don't know that the year was extended because it's often done before the year starts. I know my school district padded its calendar for practical purposes in anticipation of snow days. If they didn't happen, then the year would be shortened at the end. If they did, it saved the district from getting as much crap from parents that planned vacations and whatnot.

Keep the snow away, please. The retail season here in the North East is going badly enough, big storms keep away the shoppers :D

And besides, I fricking hate shovelling. Promised myself this year, if we got really dumped on, I'm buying my crew a snowblower.

God I hate snow. I used to love it as a kid...but when you're a grown up with actual shit to do and places to go to everyday, snow is the worst thing in the world. Oh sure, it was fun back when I didn't have a car to dig out. When I didn't have a college that I drove to, that also doesn't close down like a regular public school would. Fucking snow...fuck you!

I am all grow'd up and I enjoy snow immensely, even when it gets me into car accidents.

In fact, on my recent road trip, I made a point of driving up Hurricane Ridge in Washington so I could be in the middle of a snowstorm, which you don't get in San Francisco much.

It depends on the school and area, but traditionally, grade school through high school usually ends around mid-June and returns the first week or so of September.

College, on the other hand, gets more time off, usually out from early to mid May until late August/ early September.

Some areas vary, though, due to climate or other regional concerns.

Also, usually a certain number of snow days are already accounted for in a public school's schedule. I went to a private high school, so we didn't have such silly restrictions, but I think the public schools were allowed maybe 3-5 days off for snow before they had to start making days up.

Here in NC, it was in the 80s last week with lows from 30s to 50s. This week it won't even reach 60. i don't care what the temperature is, as long as it stops flip-flopping.

I'm in MINNESOTA and we got nothing. I move north 'coz I like the snow and I get NOTHING. Way to go, weather. We had one hell of a windstorm today, though :rolleyes.

Sooooo cold! :(

Yes, I know, it's been quite mild recently.

But dammit, this morning it hit me like a ton of bricks as I drove while it was 12F.

Yea, these winds are terrible. I saw a bus stop get blown over last night and all the glass windows smashed. Luckily, no one was inside.

snow? snow days? don't talk to me about snow days... Bismarck, ND doesn't have snow days anymore, one of the radio stations that reported school cancellations said no school for Bismarck, while the others said school is open. Only about 1/2 of the students showed up and after that the school board said (and put into it's admin code) no more snow days. So yeah, if it's -90 with the wind chill and snow mixed with blowing snow is creating a white-out blizzard... we had school! I'm so glad to be in Arizona now.

Whoa! Where? I was gonna take the bus downtown today, but I think I'll talk one of my room mates into giving me a ride.

1.[Persuade] Could I get a ride downtown?
2.[Persuade/Lie] If you give me a ride downtown, I'll make it up to you.
3.[Force persuade] You'd love to give me a ride.

On Snelling Ave and 94 right as you're getting on the onramp to go East on 94, in front of some gas station. Pretty crazy, those things are supposed to be bolted down!

You sent it to us! I swear to God there was a roof flying by last night. But recently we've had flurries and that light snow here. Oh, and it's absolutely freezing. I can see Old Man Winter sitting around playing MGS3, not giving a shit if I get ANY half days this winter. "HAHAHA, fuck you world!"

It snowed a bit in Boston a few weeks ago. Hasn't since though. And it usually doesn't start snowing heavily until Jan or Feb in the lower Northeast around the NYC metropolitan area. I live on Long Island, and I had plenty of years where it barely snowed, or didn't snow at all before Christmas. I guess Connecticut gets much more snow than LI.

And in regards to snow days, my school district was notorious for being basically the toughest when it came to giving out snow days, even though we had 2 built into our schedule just in case we got enough snow (usually needed at least 6 inches, and in progress through the morning). Our superintendent was a bastard from Buffalo.

My school district allows us two free snow days. And then if we get another it's deducted off of some weekend (memorial day? - I really don't know) And we've never had over 3 snow days before (our district is sometimes the only one that doesn't close down - very stubborn)

Monday, Dec. 13th in Cleveland: No snow on the ground

Later that day: received around 7 inches of snow

Tuesday, Dec. 14th in Cleveland: The Cleveland Municipal School District closes school for the day (and still snowing).

Like I always say, Cleveland has the weirdest weather.
