It's Fright Night for me, Clive.

Ah it’s close for me. Actually had to pause and think it over.

I went with TLB, just. I prefer the setting.

We just talking about vampire movies now? K

1. Horror of Dracula
2. Let the Right One In
3. Thirst
4. Near Dark
5. Blade 2

Those are probably my top five. Maybe George Romero's Martin over Blade 2. That's a tough one.

Christopher Lee Dracula is the GOAT. Horror of Dracula is just so classic in every sense. It has to be the best, by default.

Tod Browning's Dracula with Lugosi doesn't hold up for me these days like it used to. Kinda boring tbh. I used to love it. I don't think it's even a top 5 Universal monster flick now.

EDIT: The Buffy movie would be a guilty pleasure. Because it birthed the best vampire franchise ever, but it's so gaudy and unrefined compared to the TV series. The studio botched the script and it shows.

I also enjoy watching Paul Reubens go full ham as a vampire in this.

Such a weird movie. It almost feels like a alternative universe version of my beloved IP.

There... that's better.

So much better.

Buffy wins. Thread closed.

Between those two movies, The Lost Boys is better. Better acting, better cast of characters, better comedy writing, better soundtrack. Both are 80s classics, but The Lost Boys is on another cinematic level.

Yep. Definitely not movies for 10 year olds.
Come on man just pretend all the chicks are dudes in drag.

On topic. The Vampires in Lost Boys are some of the weakest vampires every portrayed on screen. While the vamps in Fright Night are right up there with the most bad ass.

Fright Night is the better vampire movie. Lost Boys is the better movie overall. ....and brap just sucks but we love him anyway

Never actually seen Fright Night surprisingly and I'm a big horror fan.

But TLB is a bona-fide classic I grew up with and still love to this day.

I doubt Fright Night is better.

I had a feeling TLB was gonna be one of the options!

Do yourself a favour and watch it. It's great. Just avoid the shitty remake.

Saw Lost Boys last year for the first time. I love how dreamlike so much of it is. It’s shot like a music video in a lot of ways.

I like Lost Boys much more, but I do think Fright Night is the better vamp film. While both hit a lot of lore, FN does more with it and is a more logical film (the "you gotta have faith for the cross to work" has practically become vamp canon now, moreso than the "if you invite me in I'm immune to garlic"). But it isn't as fun or as well acted. It feels like a TV movie.

I actually saw Fright Night 2 before I saw the first one. I haven't seen that sequel in like 25 years but it's one of my childhood favorites. It's been really hard to find a cheap enough copy of that so I haven't been able to buy one to my collection.

I think I saw The Lost Boys after I had already seen both Fright Nights and to me The Lost Boys, while a good movie, loses to both Fright Nights.

Same here. Never read the books tho but now I'm intrigued.
Read them.

Interview covers the first book with the same name and Queen of the Damned abridges the next 2, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. Theres a few more books after Queen of the Damned and the entire series is worth reading.

Damn this is close, but I give it to Lost Boys. Fright Night is better as a more confined horror movie, more traditional for vampire fare. But I prefer Lost Boys because it kind of opens up the genre to 11/10 and has fun with it.

Both have really corny music. So they're tied there.

Fright Night aged much better than The Lost Boys. It's still a good horror flick and it has plenty of memorable scenes like this one:

I initially didn't like the remake, but after rewatching it I don't think it's that bad. Both movies have one thing in common - absolutely shitty sequels.
