To me GAF was the best of places and what Patcher once said about “the worst site on internet”. It was both, since you had people like Dyak or Jaffe here, insiders and leaks. But you also had atrocious moderation which get you banned if you suggested that the 360 sold more because of the banned consoles.
After the split you’d think all that moved to reset era but only the bollocks moderation moved. I’ve been following next gen here mostly and all the 13TF leaks about PS5 from Era have proven to be wrong. So now GAF is not the best of places because I hardly see anyone with a name posting here, but at least it’s not the worst site Patcher ever visited.
I miss that Portuguese guy (Monk) who started all its post with “hello, fellow gaffers” and Wollan, tho.

The fact that Resetera is now defending Joe Biden shows their hypocrisy.
I can dig up some posts but I still remember during the Kavanaugh Trial, they instantly vilified him and refused to believe a man can be innocent of rape charges.
But when Joe Biden won the nomination despite ongoing rape accusations, they're now quick to silence anyone who dares question him.

I'm moderately left-leaning with politics and always have been, but I can't stand what I would refer to as "leftists" and they can't stand me either. I might as well be a full on alt-right Nazi KKK member goose stepping up and down my living room doing Hitler salutes as far as they're concerned. All they've done is split left-leaning parties into two groups, lessening their chances of winning anything, and the further left candidates/parties go in an attempt to pander to them, the worse it gets.
I'm fine with having a discussion and coming to a compromise. It might not be exactly what I want, but it's a realistic outcome. They are all or nothing in a way that often leaves them with nothing, radicalising them even more and making the whole thing even worse.

I've tossed loads of insults at Trumptards and only got one warning.
Not knowing who has been warned and who hasn't makes it hard to know for sure, but if the mods were biased in favour of a certain political leaning, they would have given me the boot a while ago.
I think the political section is a huge waste of time because of the low quality of the posts there, and I fully hold my hands up to contributing to that on quite a few occasions, but only because I'm like "when in Rome.....". I know people say "be the change you want to see" and all that, but that relies on other people at least wanting to try and do the same. There's no point putting effort into making a well-reasoned, well-sourced argument for a particular stance when the responses are gonna just be people cheerleading for whatever team they're on, who probably have only read the thread title (something that you've actually fallen for yourself in the past).
It's one reason why I like r/neutralpolitics on Reddit, but a sub like that requires a lot of moderation to make it work.

OK, I’m gonna be honest. Regarding the gaming news, I go there but if I wanna have discussion I come here. There is more traffic over there, some devs are apparently active and posting and notorious leakers usually go there. That’s it. It’s mostly to see and hear latest rumors.
But I despise everything about them as most people do. They are cult, plain and simple. Like a video game branch of DNC’s left wing caucus.
They also hate this thing called freedom of speech. They like the Chinese model better. I guess that’s not my thing.
Unfortunately, they even wield some power in this industry, albeit very very small but still, they can make your life harder than it should be. I’m absolutely sure some center of power is standing behind that site and those people because it can be very useful to influence gamer population in this way. They didn’t give up after old Neogaf crashed and burned, they continued their crusade with same fervor over there. That tells me this is more than gaming.
But anyway, coming from over there to here is like surfacing after long dive. You can finally breathe fresh air and feel the sun on your skin. I just wish site will continue to grow and attract members and possibly overtake that hell over there one day.

I’ve never played ball with the corporate powers (threatened with blacklisting many times) and have always tried to keep things neutral and pro-indie in the gaming space. Journalists never liked GAF much, either, since we were always critical of how they were mostly huge shills and incompetent at gaming, and so a lot of the gaming press were happy to fan the flames back in 2017.
That’s one of the critical differences between GAF and Reset. Reset fellates certain gaming press personalities from the top down at every opportunity, and they’re more than willing to sell out to corporate industry interests.
