I picked the Dreamcast because it's the most genre friendly. Even Nintendo fanboys liked the Dreamcast.

But as for my personal favorite, I just can't decide. Mega drive/Genesis is the one I play the most and has some of the best 2D games of all time.

The Saturn (🪐) is my favorite console in terms of nostalgia and is one of the best arcade port systems of all time, IF NOT THE BEST!
All three consoles are equally as good imo.

I have some great experiences on Genesis, and even Master System. But I think system-wise it's all Dreamcast. That system was so far ahead of its time, I hate that we're not in a universe where it succeeded and we got to see the evolution of Sega's consoles.

Megadrive, also known as Genesis in Murica. I never owned one as i had an Commodore Amiga back then, but my best friend had one so me and him played alot of 1vs1 and co-op games. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Streets of Rage, etc. The console could also be upgraded with a Mega CD and a Sega 32X, turning the 16bit console into a 32bit.

I owned and Loved my Dreamcast, still got it here, but Sega kill it way too soon to dethone the Megadrive.

Everything they've done is mid as fuck besides the Genesis and Dreamcast.

Dreamcast wins easily. I'm sure a bunch of boomers are gonna tell me I'm wrong.

Megadrive for me. Loved that machine, have so many memories of playing Road Rash, Streets of Rage and Sonic. But then I was a teenager at the time so was during my formative years. Mind you I still play them so…

P.S Also loved my SNES, but got that later!

Genesis. I grew up playing mostly nintendo with a hint of sega (sonic and ecco specifically)

While SA2 is my favorite sonic game ever, I preferred the GC version so the dreamcast doesnt really have anything of interest to me.

Admittedly, I haven't explored the Sega CD yet, so maybe my opinion can change in the future.

Objectively, the Dreamcast. It was the first system that actually had 1:1 arcade ports, had internet standard and VMU was neat tech. Personally, it was the Genesis for me though. Excellent library and I love the sound chip. It also had a fast CPU which was forward thinking and allowed it be competitive long into its life. The downside was that it didn't handle speech well and the color palette was low. Still, it was such a moment in game history having two systems going head to head with radically different games and even different ports of the same game.

So you're saying you did not played one of Kojima's masterpieces?!

There are a few gems like Final Fight CD, Sonic CD or Popful Mail but that's it.

I'm voting genesis but my personal fave is saturn. I love that era in general. It's by far my most used retro console and I've kept two for many years. I'd like to invest in getting them professionally maintained along with more.

In 1991, I had the choice to get a Genesis or a TG 16. I chose the former. Something about the Genesis just seemed so damn edgy, cool and had a killer line up of games. No regrets.

Real shit..... I want a Vectorman 3 DAMN IT.

MegaDrive/Genesis
Extremely biased as it's the console that helped shape me as a gamer.

- Phantasy Star 4
- Shining Force 2
- Theme Park
- Road Rage
- Probotector (european Contra: Hard Corps)
🥰

Dreamcast with Genesis a very close second. So many bangers on Dreamcast in such a short time. Even the games that weren't widely praised I found super enjoyable.

Game Gear.

When I showed up to school with that bad boy it was the shit. Fucking Sonic the Hedghog 2, Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, and Shinobi were the shit with beautiful colours, amazing music, and a backlight. This is when the competition was the original 2 colour Gameboy. My friends and I couldn't believe what we were witnessing. The Genesis and Dreamcast get their flowers all the time, the Game Gear is a massively overlooked system.

Obviously Genesis. Loved being able to go to my local renting place and being able to pick any games from the snes or genesis. Those were the days.

Megadrive.
Boatloads of badass 16-bit goodness, and it differentiated itself from the (amazing) SNES with its edgier style and high-speed gameplay.

Dreamcast was also peak though and the Saturn is underrated.

Probably Genesis as it enjoyed healthy support until 1995 or so. It had great games over a good few of years. Groundbreaking IP. It should be objectively the best.

But I usually tie it between Dreamcast and Saturn. It changes depending on what I want to play. Saturn does have a bit bigger and more diverse library I think, it was on the market for a bit longer and during its first year it pretty much went 1:1 with PS1 in terms of third party support.

Genesis. I remember playing Shinobi 3 in 1993 and completely blown away both in regards in graphics and sound despite having a SNES and a Sega CD.

Genesis and it isn't close.

Real competition is for 2nd place between DC and Saturn. DC is good but Saturn library is quite strong, especially once you factor in imports.

I remember growing up with my Sony Genesis / Mega-drive. It was an amazing console, and I have lots of fond childhood memories with it.
