Who else is happy that portable games are getting a head start:

Before the next generation of consoles hoards all of the attention, it's great that the DS and PSP have gotten their spotlight as the newest hardware released in years. I hope the excitement for handhelds justifies developers to devote more effort into their releases.

The older I get, the more and more I appreciate handheld games ... I simply don't have as much time any more to sit in front my TV for hours and hours and hours...
With Portables I can pop in a quick game on break at work, or in bed before I sleep ... I don't have to hog the TV from my girlfriend, and can instead sit with her and play my shyt (Attention for the girl, and ‘Me’ time --- 2 birds with one stone)
I've found that I don't even play console RPG's any more since they require such a commitment ... Portable RPG's are so friendly with saves, and usually unique and experimental.

I hope I'm not alone here... sometimes I feel like the only person who gives a shyt about how user friendly portables are.

I agree. If I couldn't play games on the bus I would hardly have any time for playing video games anymore. This is a huge shift from my high school and college days. Back then it was all console all the time.

I agree..gives us a bit of time to enjoy the new line of handhelds before the big boys make their way in late 05 & 06.

Without a focus on 2d gaming portables are worthless for me because I drive everywhere. When I am at home I would much rather play a game on my television (bigger is always better). Even my SP doesn't get as much use now that I have a GB player.

I'm not.

"Toilet gaming" is a wonderfully apt phrase; I think it's something that the supporters and detractors of handhelds can agree upon.
