I can understand your concern, as your Hotmail account's storage space is still reflecting 2 MB and it has not been upgraded to 250 MB.


As you know, MSN is upgrading storage limits for customers. With over 170 million Hotmail users, this is going to
take some time. I can inform you generally when your account will be upgraded:

• Initial markets (US, UK, JP, CA, AU, DE, FR, and ES): Yes, MSN is increasing the storage limits on Hotmail to 250MB. However, this up gradation process has already started and the selection of the specific accounts is purely random.

• Remaining World Wide Markets: We are in trial in other markets with increased free storage today to ensure a great user experience before we launch broadly.


Please be aware that you do not need to do anything! You will be upgraded automatically.

Yeah, I've actually had my 250MB for several weeks now (mind you, my Hotmail account is about 10 years old now). The problem is, over the last 2 months or so, it takes well over a day for Hotmail-to-Hotmail deliveries to pipe through their system. I've had to switch over to my Yahoo account to write some people same-day.

Apparently it's been occuring for a few months now. The transformation is occuring lot slower than I anticipated. My 10 year old account (still got a 4 char password ) still hasn't been upgraded, yet my sister's (a few years old) has.

my GF has two hotmail accounts, the newer one that she never uses (don't ask) got the upgrade like 2 months ago but her old one that's in use is still at 2MB.

I have gmail with like 23 total invitations left (3 accounts) so I'm not worrying

I moved from hotmail to yahoo a couple of years ago and never looked back. I keep the hotmail one as a legacy account but I'll move all my important stuff sooner or later and just let it expire. Compared to yahoo and gmail, hotmail sucks. I may also ditch the yahoo account eventually...

Edit: 2 hotmail accounts, 2 yahoo, 1 gmail. Silly I know
