Generally net worth is the barometer of being a millionaire. I'd wager that there are plenty of people in this world that are technically millionaires without realizing it when it considering the value of their homes.

Yes, but it's quite literally money being set aside to ensure my kids have a good college education and then of course retirement. We live like we are middle class - we don't have a brand new car, it's a 2014 model. We don't have a big house - it's around 2500 sq ft and valued at $195,000 and hardly any land (less than an acre). I have a pretty beefy computer and gaming laptop, primarily because I need the powerhouse to do the work I do. I have an iPhone 7+ and my wife has an iPhone XR.

The most we really splurge on are games, books, and some travel. We don't go out of the country either. Though, we are planning a trip to Japan.

I mean honestly, we've got all this money but we are pretty average people. We don't need much to make us happy.

I know people who make $100,000 a year, and could have been a millionaire in 15 years (have to account for taxes and bills, so it's not 10 years). But they have only $100 in their bank account and would lose everything if they got fired from their job. If you are not in the right mindset, then having a million dollars still want help you. You have to fix YOU. Just look at all the fail stories of lottery winners.
