who is getting a white psp?

I am getting it for sure! White PSP with Advent Children followed by GTA Liberty City Stories (if the frame rate and loading are acceptable)
 
A friend of mine will be at TGS next week, so hopefully he'll pick one up for me at whatever the cost is there. I just hope these things won't be sold out (which they likely will eh?)
 
Yup, picking one up for £170, £10 cheaper than the UK RRP. Still debating whether to get Winning Eleven 9 with it as well though, PES5 comes out Oct 28th so I might wait and fill the gap with CMR and VT. Gonna wait for FFVII as well, don't fancy watching a film like that and not understand a single thing :D
 
I was thinking of picking one up when I'm in town for TGS as I still don't have a PSP of my own... I do have a few questions that hopefully somebody knows the answers to, though.

Is there any danger of them selling out on the first day? I was thinking of showing up in Akihabara Thursday morning to guarantee getting one, but will that be necessary? My friend already wants to queue up for both the Micro and the Advent Children set, and I'm kind of dreading the prospect of doing it three days in a row.

Also, is my recollection accurate that there's no region lockout for game software, but there is for UMD movies?

Oh, and while I'm at it -- my friend's all gung-ho about standing in line for product launches but neither of us have ever done it in Japan before. Which store would be the best to queue up in front of for any of these launches?

We're going to be staying at the Narita Hilton as always because we get a great discount, and I'm also kind of worried about finding transportation -- how early do the trains run? Should we just go into the city the night before and kill time?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me out with these. Thanks!
 
no region lockout for games, region lock out for movies.

I will get one at the end of the year, once all hopes of a US version died.

You know how those black PSPs are, always sitting around the house eating fried chicken, not paying any bills, and listening to "gangsta" music; the white PSP likes jogging, shopping at The Gap, and listening to Joss Stone records.
 
I'll consider it when I hear how noticeable fingerprints are on the white version.

And only if the chance of it coming to the US dies for good.

I'm here in Japan and it's difficult to say how popular the white PSP is going to be...but if you really really want it, I'd play safe and go buy it first day. Region lockout is only for UMD movies.

Trains start running around 5am. If this was the PSP launch, I'd spend the night before outside and kill time, but the white PSP? Nah, I don't think you need to, just come in early taht morning. Any of the big electronic stores in Shinjuku - namely Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera should be a good place to queue.
 
I'm sticking with the black one because I think it will be easier to play games on (less distracting?) also, dirt and crap will show up clearer on the white one. Plus, black looks sexy

Thanks for the info. Do you think queueing up for the Micro and FF:AC releases would be wise? My friend and I are both set on the Famicom Micro and he seems more than willing to part with a big chunk of change the next day for that figurine of Cloud with his bike.

I'd queue for the micro on that morning. The Famicom color is the most popular, and is the heavily promoted. As for FF7AC, I'm not sure how readily available it will be since they closed down most preorders. Your friend is just buying the LE boxset for the Cloud/bike figurine?

Yeah, though I personally suspect he'd buy anything with the words "Final Fantasy" and "Limited" in the name. He'll be pretty disappointed if he misses out on getting a set.

Do you think the big electronics stores will be stocking the Limited Edition? I'd like to be able to tell him ahead of time if it's going to be futile to try to get one, given that it would save me having to get up with him to catch the first train.
 
I'm not getting the white PSP, I won't be fooled by glamourshots anymore since I've seen a white DS in real life. Now THAT was ugly.

I don't like the white PSP. But multi colors don't draw me in, anyway. I already have my PSP so I'll just use that.

I don't like the white soft case. That image reminds me of that Battlestar Galactica (the "old" series young uns) where Apollo and Starbuck were dead and wearing the all white colonial outfits.

Not everything has to be white.

Is the softcase all white/ or is it just grey with white trim??

It seriously makes the PSP look like a freaking monster of a system doesn't it. I can't wait until someone takes pics of the Black iPod nano next to the PSP (and for those somewhat more daring, the white PSP next to the white iPod nano :D )

Heheh, Let's wait a few years when Sony releases the PSP equivalent of the PSOne and PSTwo then. I predict paper thin PSP for teh win!
 
The US is getting this too? This would look incredible with my car's brushed aluminum dash interior.
 
That Ipod is nice, very slick and thin too. I'd rather have a PSP though, since you can do more with it for the same price. :)
 
I picked up a white PSP and a Famicom Color GBMicro. I'm charging my stuff for the long ride to TGS tomorrow so I don't have an outlet to plug in my camera, and it's out of power, so I'll go ahead and post possibly the worst picture anyone has ever put up on GAF....
