Who is thinking in buying a GPX2

I´m seriously thinking in buying a GPX2. I love handhelds and it looks sexy enough.

But mainly, I´m thinking in buying it to use as my portable emulation machine and upgrade my 1.0 PSP to use it in the proper way, instad of buying a second PSP one that would be a more expensive option.

I don´t know, I would appreciate any comment from your part, especially if you have knowledge abouy GPX". I have a GP32 and I was quite happy with it until PSP arrived, and this new system looks really nice.

Emulation? I say wait a little longer.

I don´t think that is the problem. It´s a linux based machine focused mostly on scene developing. GP32 was big for emulation, and this system is going to be more. Emulation will be there, no doubt about it.

But my thread was addressed to people like Marconelly that understand hardware specs to speak a little about the theoric possibilities of the system for emulation. That would clear my opinion.

However I wouldn´t upgrade the PSP until I´m safe GP2X can compete with it.

I'm tempted by a GPX2 as well, I'd imagine the emulation scene would be massive given a short amount of time.

Never owned a GP32 despite lusting after one for a long while -- how did the control work out for you? I've been using my iPaq as my little emulation station and although I love it the thumbpad is a bitch for anything precision based. That and Morphgear wasnt quite full speed for SNES/MegaDrive emulation.

Not perfect, but good enough to handle. However, when I play old games I tend to play slow paced ones as RPGs, strategy and so, so I can´t say how I feel playing more active games.

One of the problems I see of GPX2 is the lack of D-pad (same as GP32), but is not such a big deal for me anyway.

Yeah, that's what I've ended up doing too -- partly because the games I want to play never got released in the UK at the time. Cheers for that; should be interesting to see how GPX2's pad feels in comparison.

I'll be getting it, but prolly not till early next year. I'm confident that the scene support will be there, but I just wanna give em a head start. As soon as SNES is up and running well, I'm there. Hope the "stick" is closer to the NGPC click stick (fine for fighting games) than a traditional analog.

Why not buy a Gizmondo?

Maybe I am not well informed, but Gizmondo seemed to have an smaller screen, poorer video codec support and not a very spectacular scene support, all that for a higher price. Apart that I find it quite unatractive compared with a GPX2.

Someone translate this for us
